    When you own a Tolly 44 the dream of moving up to a Fleming 65 is a natural progression. Our Tolly 44 was a dream for many years before it became a reality. Never stop dreaming!

      Agreed, all our boats were dream boats; our 34, now the 44. Sadly though this Fleming may be untouchable, but we never say never.

    Been watching you guys since you started, and have been lusting after a Fleming since I found Tony Flemings videos. I keep looking at the used 55's and buying lottery tickets, until the ages of the boats available and my budget intersect. Fingers and toes crossed. Love your videos. I have learned much from your adventures (and problems too!)

      Hi Earnest. Thanks for sticking with us for so long. We greatly appreciate you being here and watching. We don't buy many lotto tickets, I guess we are going to have to start if we are ever going to have one of these beautiful boats. We keep our eyes on the used Fleming 55 market as well. The intersection point still seems far off for us. Cheers to dreaming! 😃

    We were invited aboard a Fleming 55, Osprey, at Kichissippi Marina about 10 yrs ago while looping the Rideau/Ottawa/St. Lawrence rivers. It's been our #1 dream boat ever since. Unfortunately we'd have to win the Lotto Max (a few times) to afford one. *Sigh* Boat show looks like fun. Cheers! Rick & Lori

    Glad to see you guys back on the water after surviving another hurricane season. We are finally ready to buy our Fleming (I WISH!). Currently looking for something in the 45' range aft cabin. Wife and I really like the layout of the Bayliner 4587. Don't forget the Gulf Coast, there's plenty to see over here. Crystal River with the manatees, nice State Parks, Mote Marine, and unfortunately right now, red tide. Take care and happy cruising.

  • @jaquigreenlees
    @jaquigreenlees 4 роки тому +4

    You know, even though it is smaller ( by 10 feet ) I would say the Fleming 55 would fit you both better.
    Cruising at 4.5 - 5 knots will give trans Atlantic range on internal fuel tanks. ( speed vs range data graphs on flemingyachts.com the performance section ) Yet they are as well appointed with the same basic layout as the 65 you looked at. This would also show that going to the larger yachts isn't always the only option for long range cruising.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  4 роки тому +2

      Oh yes, we absolutely agree. The 65 was the smallest at the show that we could see. I'm sure the 55 or the 58 would be more our size. Just stunning boats all around.

    • @jaquigreenlees
      @jaquigreenlees 4 роки тому +1

      @@SearchingforCShels yup they are, though according to the speed vs range data the 58 is the worst performer of the Flemings. Same fuel capacity and engines of the 65, yet barely able to get to 3000 NM.

    • @fredscribner3688
      @fredscribner3688 4 роки тому +1

      @@jaquigreenlees the range charts on the 58 and 65 use the 800 hp man engines which are the base engines for the 65 and the upgrade for the 58. The base engines for the 58 are the same 8.3 litre 500 hp Cummings that are used on the 55. The 58 carries 1450 gallons whereas the 65 and 55 hold 1700 and 1000 gallons respectively. The 58 also has the option of a bulbous bow which if chosen increases the range significantly

    Didn't realize this was from 2018. Nice work, love seeing the sunshine on a cold, rainy November day. Flemings are nice little ships but 1600-2400 hp? And don't forget that the windshield is angled wrong. I see myself more as a Nordhavn guy though that interior looks like something I could get used to. Best of luck with your upcoming journeys.

    Fleming should hook up with that other company to do events. It would only help in sales and info/feedback from current owners. 2 companies working together to pull off a yearly or twice a year event,......why not? More hands lighten the load.

    • @lvthud
      @lvthud 4 роки тому

      It's not actually Fleming doing the event, it's Burr Yachts, one of their reps in the US. I get your point, but Fleming really doesn't need to do any promotions, they have managed to get themselves in a position where people come to them to order boats and their used boats sell themselves. The Fleming owners and company really do a great job of communicating with each other, it's one of the main reasons you will see constant upgrades to the model lines, though a 10 year old 55 may look the same, it's very different under the skin. The owner community is also very tight, i'm looking at buying one 4-5 years from now and honestly, if you go to the owners forum, you can find the history of just about every boat.

    • @SearchingforCShels
      @SearchingforCShels  3 роки тому +1

      That is a touch question, but I think it comes down to what you want to do. If crossing large oceans or circumnavigation was part of my cruising plans then I think the Nordhavn is better equipped for that. If Island hopping or crossing smaller seas like the Med or Caribbean Sea, I'd consider the Fleming. Hope this helps. Cheers Rolf!

      @@SearchingforCShels Oh, thanks for the super quick reply.
      Let's be honest, who always only wants to cross deep water? Most of us drive along the coastlines. I think that the Fleming is the better all-rounder with a draft of around 1.52 and it works from Norway to Iceland too or even further. The Nordhavn may be a little better for bad weather but "you always have to die a death". Cheers Captain.
