I know right! I loved the moments whenever Aelin blinked at Fenrys in that secret code of theirs and only the both of them knew what it meant. And even in Wendlyn when Aelin had just escaped she was using the codes because words were still to hard for her. It just melts my heart to see them share this special code, something just between the two of them and that no one else knows the meaning to, not even Rowan. I loved it!!
Abigail Maceira I love their friendship!!!!!!! Oh my god !!!! My heart broke when Fenrys and Aelin took the blood oath !!!! I am in love with Fenrys ! I can read a whole book that revolves around Fenrys!! I love their arc through the books ! I am in love with the part I think in the 5th book where Fenrys and Rowan had the “ kill me if I am given the order to kill Aelin and the imma miss this court “ and “ I’m thankful to have had an opportunity “ situation! I know it’s kind of a sin but I kinda pair Aelin and Fenrys..kinda hard 🙈😜💔
Manon and Dorian definitely deserve their own novella. All the couples actually could have their own novella I wouldn't be mad
fenrys was SO SO SO GOOD in this book, the bond between him and aelin was so cute wow I love their friendship

Queen of Shadows is my all time favorite too from the series. So sad this series is over. I hope we get a spin off down the line like we are with ACOTAR.

I agree, a lot of things I was super looking forward to in this book got left out! Hollin wasn't in it at all and neither was Vaughan, we never got to see the Wastes, I feel like Eyllwe got underrepresented, and the worst part for me was that NOX OWEN one of my favorite characters in the first book, whom I waited for for 5 books to reappear, made it in as a MESSENGER. That's IT. He delivered a couple messages for other people, but he NEVER DID ANYTHING HIMSELF. HE AND AELIN NEVER REUNITED. I am just so mad about that #noxdeservedbetter
Wow. Sarah could have definitely fit that in. At this point I think Sarah should split her series finales into two books to fit everything and make it satisfying whilst emulating her vision because it's the second time they have been called underwhelming.

This series was amazing, definitely one of my favorite of all times; although I agree that this book is not my favorite of the series (don't get me wrong, it is amazing). The scene after they rescue Aelin and she screams "take it off" is heartbreaking, and with the audiobook it was just agonizing. (Also, I couldn't help but notice every time Sarah wrote "her throat bobbed", "she said quietly, but not weakly" or "not an ember", it is just so unique to her books and they come back pretty often).
Loved the book. But I was hoping that Aelin, Chaol and Dorian goodbye was more. I needed it to be more! I just suffered through 8 books of this series and I get just basically one paragraph 😭
SAME. Their farewell didn’t do justice for how much they went through and how much they grew as individuals but most of all their friendship 😭😭
I mean honestly, if I'm putting myself in their shoes and we all just went through indescribable shit for an extended duration of time....I wouldn't have much to say 😅 id be at a total loss for words and probably just withdraw for a year or two. So it didn't come off as weird to me. But I can see how it would be disappointing to some

Queen of Shadows was one of the most fulfilling books I’ve ever read! Definitely the best enjoyable build up/pay off for me of the series :)
I have never seen anything more relatable than having to put (part one) in the title because Kingdom of Ash was such a HUGE book that it needs two parts😂👏

I started this book when I was in middle school, now I’m about to be a senior and I’m not ready to leave these characters.

Listen I haven’t mustered the courage to read this book yet because I’m not ready for it to be over and I’ve already cried over it twice.
I'm gonna be honest, this book wasn't my favourite. I didn't like how we didn't get to delve particularly deep into each character because she has so many characters and she jumped between too quickly, but also, it didn't make me laugh as much as the others. I would happily read another book with Manon and Dorian tho

If anyone tried that i feel so bad for them, too many characters you wouldn't get to know PLUS the two plot related things revealed in tower of dawn that ARE NOT gone into detail in kigdom of Ash PLUS Chaol's romance PLUS watching Chaol change as an individual

Oh my gosh yes! I agree with everything. I cried to much throughout this book too and I was a complete wreck when Aelin finally got out of the coffin. I loved how that whole piece was a combination of them saving her and her saving herself because if it had been one or the other it would not have felt as real to me.

SAME!!! Watching the characters being serious was painful to watch, understandable but still painful. This happened to me in the Medoran Chronicles and now its happened here. Seeing Characters who are snarky, "playful" and who love to laugh being forced to be everything but that is just not fun to read and results in a floodful of tears.

I love this series and adore (most) of the characters but I had a TOUGH time getting through this book. I found myself getting bored in places, which isn't something I'm use to with Maas' work. I think it had to do with the fact that the book felt like one giant battle interspersed with small plot points. Not saying I didn't thoroughly enjoy PARTS of the book, but all in all, not my favorite. Unfortunately, I'm disappointed by this book and was hoping for a bit more from the finale.

I felt the same way! The major plot points happened towards more than half way through the book and the build up to them shouldn’t have been as long as it was. Still love the series though, my heart is definitely heavy because it’s over!
