Mod idea: Every time Mario picks up a moon, he moves a little bit slower. Carrying all those moons around is heavy work! Depositing moons back in the Odyssey returns Mario to full speed

The funniest mod I can think of is a bonk counter. Every time you bonk, it adds 1 to the counter.
No use other than to make the player feel bad.
(Bonus idea: if you get more than 3 bonks, you're locked into the clown mario outfit for the rest of the game)
I bet CJ could get plenty of use from that

3 is a little harsh, I say make it at least 5 and preferably closer to 10. Locked into clown outfit is a major debuff.
Mod idea:make the starbit counter actually work with the starbits on the moon
iirc she said they're just starbit-shaped rocks, not actual starbits
All purple coins are now star bits, even if you change kingdom, your starbit counter stays the same
When Fir was playing she said she forgot that Moon has actual Starbits, so I think she might, if she or anyone ever plays this mod again lol
That and the ammo counter should work. Sherms can only shoot 3 bullets, so it would be good to know how many bullets are left to fire. I love the dumb features that do something, but not much.
For the bird counter, imagine it’s actually interactive and only counts the birds when you first person and see them
This is surprisingly similar to when DougDoug added a hud element every few minutes, just somehow even less helpful!

Mod idea: I worry about Mario’s health. And I would feel better being able to keep an eye on his physical health through a Step tracker with a heartbeat monitor of course in the UI style of Mario’s Apple Watch. Overexertion at his age could be damaging to his overall health 🤫

I think adding in an Ace Attorney health bar instead of the regular one would be so cool! Watching each segment explode when you take damage would be extremely helpful for Mario gameplay.

For real though this is actually amazing, reminds me of DougDoug's video where he adds progressively more HUD to SMO, but the fact its interactive makes me want more of this lol.

I love how in the video a guide said that in the game nerds actually enough coins to buy every outfit no more no fewer and I was just thinking in Luigi’s balloon world you can get infinite coins

I saw "DVD screensaver" in the intro and thought it was SO much worse. Imagine if Mario bounced around relative to the camera while you played
We need a seperate mod where you can only play the game as wikihow wants you to play it, and not listening to wikihow’s important advice will instantly kill Mario until you get back on track and listen to wikihow. If wikihow tells you a fact that is false (ie, no capturing hat wearing enemies), the game must be changed to make that fact true.
“Hat-wearing enemies can’t be captured” I’m pretty sure that breaks the game lol, at the bare minimum Pokios are required and wear hats.

Mod idea: functional rhythm game hud. (First thought was DDR, but there’s lots of options. Find the one that works for you!) Would ideally update to match the current audio track, but making charts for every song in Odyssey may be a task to outsource if at all; random input generation would probably be simpler.

My idea was a Heat-O-Meter, it would go up to more closer Mario gets to something hot and he would die if it went all the way up! The only way it would go down is if you move away from the hot thing! I guess the temperature was basically like my idea.
Obviously missing a mustache integrity meter, gotta be sure Mario’s main feature stays healthy

Mod idea: Mario needs glasses, every time Mario blinks the screen gets 1% blurrier, but he can buy glasses from any store to restore his vision

The persona 4 HUD was a great idea. If you ever did it again you should add one for cappy as well. His health could be based off of if you have any cap jumps or not.

Mod idea: every time you make progress towards one of Toadette's stars, it shows that star's progress on screen for a few seconds.

Replace all instances of Mario's name with the profile name, like used on the Hide and Seek HUD

One mod idea that I've seen said before that's actually amazing is a Prop Hunt gamemode for SMO online.
the terrible giuse book you found in 2:30 -ish gave me an idea: a "terrible tutorial" mod, with funny/meme-y instructions appearing around different spots in the game.

Mod idea: Waluigi's Taco Stand. Every so often Waluigi will appear in his omnipresent taco stand and force you to buy a taco, price directly proportional to how much health you can heal. The taco heals you to full health, but if you can't afford it or declines the taco, Waluigi kills you and undoes the last 5 minutes or so of progress you made. Waluigi showing up also disables Mario's movement, but everything continues to move around him, either plays out like an interaction with the player advancing the text and choosing whether or not to buy the taco or an automatic thing where he shows up, rambles for an indeterminate amount of time, then either takes your money and gives you the taco or kills you.
You really saw DougDoug do this and said "OK but what if they were all FUNCTIONAL" and then went and put actual time into making functional silly hud upgrades. I love it so much.
Since this is Minecraft, Mario's needs a toolbar that shows the durability of everything he's using
hide n seek with the stamina mod could be fun to see how they manage it
If Mario does a certain action, something annoying spawns or happens. EX: If you bonk, you are teleported to the sphinx, and you can’t leave until you get the second moon questions.
Mod idea: quick time events! When trigger conditions are met, time stops/slows to a crawl and one or more button prompts appear on screen. If all prompts are successfully met, play continues as normal. If not, Mario immediately bonks. (Trigger conditions up to you, but the original idea was “when performing advanced movement” e.g. triple jumps, side flips, spin pounds, etc; things that you wouldn't do in quick succession but would be inconvenient to fail. Success/failure fanfare/effects and additional/alternative rewards/penalties may be applied at your discretion.)
Advanced variant: the QTE is an entire warioware-type microgame. (Do not do this.)
Y'know Amysis, Fir was right about it being a missed opportunity about the starbit counter not reflecting how many moon kingdom purples you've collected

Or better: present the skip button that just restarts the cutscene.
Edit: even more evil: remap the skip cutscene to a reset (update the text in the menu too) which restarts the game and autosaves.
Slightly less evil version sends you back to the start of the kingdom/teleports you to the Odyssey

this is what happens when your family uses the computer and adds more viruses and a bunch of stuff just starts showing up
the shrine tracker can track pretty much any creature or item type in the game when you upgrade it. you could've had it track goombas or something

If you do want to make another one of these you could have the luigis balloon world distance from balloon tracker always active for the closest moon or sub area.

ok, here's a list of some of these ideas I thought kinda neat
1. the bird counter, but I feel like that could be added upon, like you have the counter of birds in the area you're in, but every time you make a bird go away it goes down by one and a different counter shows how many birds you spooked/killed (Klepto)
2. the coins-for-a-shield thing is neat
3. so is the windows taskbar thing, also I feel like that could have some sort of use in a multiple-kingdom hide and seek thing where it either shows who's in what kingdom or just how many people are in what kingdom
4. the altimeter (short for altitude meter) I feel could also be utilized really well, in that instead of just showing how high off the ground you are, you could show elevation based off a major landmark in the area
5. make the starbit counter work (it increments whenever you collect Moon Kingdom purple coins, and this includes when you recollect them because in Galaxy they respawn)
also an extra thing, I feel like an isometric minimap would be really freaking cool

The fact that the temperature mod and bird counter are PERFECTLY accurate (game dev wise) is actually really funny to me.
Bwhoa, a lot of those mods were pretty ridiculous elements. The bird tracker was super groovy, though, keep that one alive please. ^_^

how about adding a dash to marios moveset similar to celeste's dash (if possible also include advanced movement like wavedashing)
You know weirdly the shield functionality is a pretty good hide and seek mod, maybe cut it down to like 50 so that it entices people to run around and collect them in hopes that they can gain a shield to withstand one tag before actually losing the round.
You should have added the wiki how guide text when Cappy tells you tips when flying to a new kingdom.
Mod idea: Whenever mario captures something, his hat gets more tired. after ten captures, cappy falls asleep and you need to idle for long enough for mario to sleep too or sit on a bench for 21 seconds.
20:18 Amy says there’s totally star bits in super Mario odyssey, but we knew she forgot about the moon kingdom, we all do.
Missed opportunity with the ammo being tied to the tanks, and could have made it so that after firing something like 3 shots it had to ‘reload’ and took a few seconds. Would make the metro fight more interesting:
Mod idea: when Mario dies, you play as Luigi. When Luigi dies, you play as another character like Peach, so on and so forth with how much different Mario characters you'd like. But! Make sure you don't hop back on a previous character, they're dead afterall, and there are no 1-ups in Mario Odyssey as far as I know. Also, to make it harder to survive, you can make it so you only have one or two health with no health-refill-hearts in the entire game. Don't want to make this mod go unnoticed once you made it!
Just thought of a funny mod while I was doing the dishes earlier: You should do a mod where there are no loading zones in the game, but the places that are loading zones just change the camera to that room, so what you need to do is place all loading zones in one kingdom. For example, Deep woods (Great example) Would be just below the kingdom, but in the same "room". I also think that the vines that usually go down after you jump back into wooded kingdom from the deep woods should just stay there after being planted, so that it makes more sense for going into wooded kingdom. Yes I know this is a very long comment, but I just wanted to express what I was thinking of as a mod for super mario odyssey.

Mod Idea: The Persona party tracker should track Mario's health (and stamina when enabled) for it's bars.
Should have added a CC meter from Mario kart, it tracks how fast tank captures and scooters are

Mod idea: Mario has a Fatigued bar. Basically the bar slowly goes down the longer mario stays away. The more Fatigued he gets, the slower he becomes/less high he can jump/more damage he takes per hit. This can be reset by letting him sleep for 10 seconds, but goes down to empty every 15-20 minutes.
Mod idea: randomly another mario appears in game but has a custom skin on and he just stays there no matter what happens.
Fir popping off for the birds made me so happy
Mod idea: makes every cutsceeen unskippable and any attempt skipping it will force you to watch it from the beginning again. Then hand this to any% speedrunner

Mod idea: Experience meter. You get experience from collecting coins and moons, talking to NPCs, and defeating enemies. Mario's advanced movement options unlock as you level up.
He starts with only walk (not run) and normal jump. Regular cap throw and capturing is unlocked when you get Cappy, but moves like cap bounce and spin require levels in addition to having Cappy.
The ground pound is unlocked obnoxiously late, requiring certain moons to be left out of a speedrun route. Crouching is unlocked fairly early, but rolling is the last upgrade.
This reminds me a lot on a video by DougDoug where he speedran Odyssey but every 5 minutes he added a HUD from a different game on top of it. Would be cool to see that idea in game, since it'd be very similar to this.

I’m just shocked you can’t see Mario’s current Level and XP to get to the next level.
Make it so that Mario has a jump limit that increases by 2 every time you pick up a moon, and starts at 12 (and make cap bounces count as jumps cause funny)
Ayyy nice mine made it to the thumbnail and Fir called it B-tier. Ngl I forgot how good y’all were at the game and that y’all don’t bonk often when speedrunning when I suggested that.

I feel like the bonk counter added to Hide and Seek could be hilarious fun. Maybe just take damage on hitting 0 instead of instant death, though. It'd be a way to spice up the chases!

god the fact that for the most part some of these dont bother me is hilarious
