another thing that makes scolipede great is it's move pool, it get's a surprising amount of good coverage options: aqua tail, earthquake, throat chop, superpower, stomping tantrum, rock slide this thing can hit so hard and can deal with the types it struggles with cause it's got the tools it needs
My favorite early route bug is probably the Grubbin line because I think it stays likable regardless of what stage its in. Grubbin is adorable. Its massive head, pouty face, and jellybean shaped body make it cute IMO. Charjabug is silly. Its a bus/battery/accordion thing with a funny cry. I kind of want to stack them on top of each other, but that’s probably just me. Vikavolt’s design goes hard. I don’t think I need to say much more than that. Just look at it and tell me it’s not cool.
Lokix is my absolute favorite Pokemon after i saw it. It combines three of my favorite things together and it's entire design is just Kamen Rider refrences
I'm sorry, but Bye Bye Butterfree is carried entirely by nostalgia. Even as an adult, watching the Stoutland episode from the Sun and Moon anime absolutely broke me.
A core childhood memory of mine was evolving my metapod into a butterfree on the ss anne, I had just beat blue and my imagination completely took over, to this day nearly 20 years later I still get the mental image of standing on the deck as the cacoon split open and butterfree fluttered out surrounded by sparkles just like the anime lol I was a very imaginative child
Galvantula in my Shield party. Probably my least used pokemon on that playthrough, but it's a fast special sweeper that covers bug and electric, which I was missing in my party. So when it came out it definitely wrecked things. Couldn't count on it taking a hit though.

Cutiefly and Ribombee shocked me at how good they were, I just assumed with last generations scatterbug line cutiefly would be the same, but Ribombee was a very solid mon to use

Hey lokixs is awesome. Also something interesting that ive noticed with myself is that because gen 5 was my first ever pokemon game, i appreciate the fact that the early bug archetype has kinda gone away somewhat in that its not just a pokedex filler you use for a few gyms. I just completed a shiny dream team where i used leavanny and the fact i had to work hard to evolve it at 20 and then by friendship had me really appreciate its place on the team as a permanent member

Gotta love that dark bug. And I can't forget the Grubbin to Vikavolt line when I played Ultra Moon! Bug pokemon are very good early game due to their early evolving levels Edit:except volcerona for obvious reasons it's bad early game but amazing late game
