Lol! I grew up to Shorty Long..love pur music. We're the Baby boomers of the good ol' days..
This was one of our favorite dance song. We use to get down dancing at House Parties. This song brings back so many memories of the 60’s early 70’s. That’s when it was real music. “ Function At The Junction” it was a hit.
That's right. I grew up during the sixties in a small provincial town. There was little to do. So we were dependant on houseparties. On thursday we started to ask ''is there a houseparty anywere', and we got tips from our frieds. So more thans once I found myself at some house party in district I was was never before and in de house of someone I dit know at all. But all that didn't matter. Is was the sixties and it was de best music ever made.
This Is My Favorite Song in the World!😀😀😀😀😀😀🎼🎼🎵🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶🎹🎹🎹🎺🎺🎺🎺🎷🎷🎷🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤🎸🎸🎸🎷🎷🎷🎺🎺🎹🎹🎶🎶🎶🎵🎵🎼🎼💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Absolutely they don't make music like this no more greatest good old Motown ❤
I used to sing this and would gather an audience I can still hear my friends chanting sing Landy THOSE WERE GOOD YEARS!
THIS IS ANOTHER MOTOWN CLASSIC ! HE DID THAT !
James Jamerson killed it at the end with that bass!!! BEST PLAYER EVER!
My mom & dad used to play this song at birthday partys you know the ones where you had to go to BED the good old days
Memories of teen house parties. Colored lights. Red, blue and green in Los Angeles. Dance called the Philly dog!
don't say the PHILLY DOG, please don't say the PHILLY DOG ,..😀😀😀
This is the way they did it in the 60's folks!! ....end of lesson...........
The perfect July 4th song. Having a barbecue or cookout filled with spare ribs, corn on the cob, chicken wings, French fries, hot dogs and hamburgers! Now, I'm hungry!
I have a big sister seven years older than me. When I wasn't being the bratty baby brother from age 4 to 9, I was my big sis dance partner. Function At The Junction came out a few months before her Sweet 16 B-Day Party in September 1966. For about five years, little precocious me was having great times dancin and hangin' with (what I thought were) my sister's 'women' friends. It all came to screeching halt at her party. As I told to keep out and away from the evening festivities.
I stayed fixated on "Tell one, We gonna have a ball. Tell'em about the function at the junction..." I couldn't wait to throw a party the way I like it...and show my sister.
We both relocated from Cleveland to Southern California during the late 1970's. Me turning 23 by 1980 (both our B-Days are in Sept), as full circle was achieved as I played this song and pointed at my original dance partner told her COME ON! We partied the night away with 30+ people in my 2 bedroom apt with a bit MORE than soda pop being served....
They'll never be another you shorty!!!! Function at the junction will never die!!!! I have 6 generations listening to this song.we play this song at every event and we party hard!!!! Thank you your highness!!!! 💋❤️🙏✌️
Truth Indeed
This is SUCH a great song. I gotta tell you- in the 60's we had a LOT of social problems----but DAMN~I remember going to high school in Brooklyn....and Sat. night was teen night. We danced to this and other Motown classics....mixed crowd and we danced and danced and danced...and had such a good time.
@kersanthemum53 ‘71
Was just minding my own business and this song hit me in my spirit like so. When this plague (COVID-19) has passed, somebody somewhere BETTER play this here 🙏💜🕺💃🌌
Thanks for the memories. To remember when these songs were played on the radio, at parties, and in our homes. To remember when 45's were a great, big deal. To remember everyone breaking to the dance floor to dance to this song. To remember a time when we lived for the next record to be released from Motown. How good the music sounded when it hit the air waves. How good the music made us feel. Everything was alright. Uptight! (Stevie's meaning, of course.)
Motown was 'HOT' back in the day.....That record company, the singers, producers, musicians, songwriters, arrangers, composers, kept the hits coming back in the day.......
Yes......
CheckMate657879 I came by to hear this great classic once again.......
I had a record player, looked like a suitcase, it opened up
And the speakers were on the side. My mom kept tellin me "Keep it down, the neighbors!"

@@carolynntubman1461 : it was the golden age of raw talent and musicianship. The "beat box" killed it all. So now all we have is hipHop canned garbage.
+C C Have you ever heard of Justin"THE BIEB" Bieber?. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
What I always say. Check out Tuck and Patti for some stellar music and songwriting.
Grateful for the true musicians may they prosper. Peace

Yep! That was The Funk Brothers!!! They are the music behind Motown.
Sad to have to agree, today's music really does pale in comparison.
Lord, I remember sneaking to listen to my dad's 45 to this song. I was about 11 and I was like this is perhaps the greatest music ever made. So sad that Shorty Long died so young.

I LOVE THIS!!!!! I had all but forgotten this song that I grew up loving. Then I found your re-mix and I am in love all over again!!! This brings back so many memories of growing up in Detroit with the Motown Sound. I attended the Motown Revues for many years and Mr.Shorty Long MC'd a couple while he was here. His untimely death on the Detroit River was tragic...but his music lives on! Thank You for this re-mix. I Love It!!!
Back in day we use to party off this song
What a brilliant soul single! It really didn't need to be extended, yet it keeps 'dancing' in my mind!

💐❤💐I REMEMBER SHORTY LONG, AND THIS SONG "FUNCTION AT THE JUNCTION"❤💐❤AND I REMEMBER "HERE COMES THE JUDGE"💐💐💐
Mosogotam! Came back for another dose of your magic...Shorty Long must not be forgotten.
I was in a mood to reminiscence after speaking to my older sister (cousin) who I grew up with. She now lives in Delaware since she retired 5 years ago. I remember a party she had in my aunt's basement / rec-room - Jamaica Queens, 1965 I was 13 Y.O. that was the first time I heard Function at the Junction and learned a dance called "the goose and the Gander".
My big sister really knew how to dance: all the dances from the 60's 70's and 80's and she could Mambo (Latin we used to call it). just as good as the Latinos from the old neighborhood. Funny how a song and a phone call can trigger a memory. She also introduced me to my second wife in 1997 who I'm still married too.
Love you Sarah Jane

You have to go to the 6th the
This re-mix does so much justice for Shorty! I like the fact i can boogie for a few extra minutes, thanks to your talent. Sound and presentation are spectacular! I love the organ and drum fade-out the most, so i'm going to replay the whole thing again.

They use to play this at the Dome in the East Village in the early 70's. The dance floor would be packed. What a good time back then.

And then today, i actually had time to see, witness, and experience again all those photos you collected to achieve the fine and final result. The music will always be great, but i think your personal vision will stand the test of time. It is your genius tribute to a long-forgotten time that needs to be remembered, now. Groove on mosogotam!
