There is another comic coming!
They both have unrelenting faith for the emperor, both have had very heretical moments in their groups past which they wish to redeem themselves from. Both are devoutly anti heretical. Basically it would be both of them working together in a war zone to fight off heretics. The kriegsmen was assigned to protect her along with his squad who was wiped out. And the two bonded over torturing a heretic. And they just kept traveling together. They probably geek out together over their favorite prayers to the emperor.
They both tried to die for the Emperor together
If the krieger has a reason to live, Khorne better give up at that point.

Why do I feel these emotions? Why do I feel these emotions? Why do I feel these emotions? Again and again and again I keep asking this same question over and over. I am supposed to die for the sins of my ancestors, yet I keep doubting. Every time I charge towards the enemy, I become wary of every bullet, every lasbolt, every piece of shrapnel that just misses my worthless corpse. All because of her. Why did she give me a reason to live? I want to not care about her, but it never comes true. Every time she is gone from my sight, I am more worried for her than disobeying my superiors. Every time she is in battle, I pray to the Emperor that she will live. Every time I am not with her, a melancholy spreads throughout my body. Am I cursed, just because I want to live? Did I do something wrong other than being the sins of my people? Will this accursed cancer stay with me for the rest of my life? If so, then I wouldn't mind accepting it, if it means I can be with her.
That kriegsman looks a little bit annoyed. It's just a hunch, but I think he's not very happy to find these guys have hurt his wife. I'm just spitballing ideas since you can't see what's under that mask.

Death Korps Guardsman are not simps. Perhaps he will be willing to aid an Imperial ally but will not change his reasons for fighting
Reminder that Kriegers are conscripted to fight for their redemption at a very young age and that the suicidal tactics their armies employ means that very few of them survive for long. This means that there is a pretty good chance that the Krieger in the comic is probably only 14 or 15 years old, maybe 16.

What are the odds the next Black Crusade, major hive fleet intercept, or Waagh occurs on Krieg itself. I’m not much of a fan of Krieg or the Death Korps since everyone and their mother & pet dog seems to be, but the carnage would be incredible. I’d read that story. I could get into that.
