I’m so glad I came across your page. I’ve dreamt of fostering since I was a child. I even made my mom become a foster mom, but sadly she worked so much and every time we had the opportunity it would be at the most difficult times. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to take anyone in. Now 22 years old and I’m currently in the military. I’ll be going back home this summer for good and I really want to become a foster mom. Idk if I’m too young but I’d really love to be a positive impact in someone else’s life. Anyone have any advice for me?

The age to become a foster parent is 21 so you’re good 😊 The best advice that I can give is to make sure that you have a good support system, whether that be family, friends, or other foster parents. My husband and I are apart of a foster parent support group and it has been great having the support from others who actually understand what we’re going through.

Whatever you dont have your foster care worker should be able give you a voucher for. At least when i was a foster care worker we did that.

You can either go through your county’s Dss or find a foster care agency in your area to get licensed.
