I'm a Mr.Color fan, but I am trying to round out my range of MRPs, they are fantastic to spray right from the bottle. Just picked up some AMMO by Mig for some specific colors for a major project. Crossing my fingers.

hello, great video, do you think it's possible to use AK acrylic thinner with ammo acrylic paint ? regards

The mig paint should come out Matt. If its not you use it wrong. With mig you're better of using double action so you spray thin, dry it with just air and continue so on. Yes its some work but the result are very nice 🙂

I've been using my double action since this video. It sprays great. Very thin layers and flashing between. I will post a new video on this soon as the results are ten times better

The Ammo came out glossy because you sprayed it pretty wet. It's finicky paint, and needs to be sprayed in very light layers. It's not bad, but I don't think it's worth the hassle.
Curious why you kept fiddling with the mac valve while spraying the Mr Color?

Q-have you had a chance to try any of those Academy enamels{Korea} as yet....? i,ve got some on order from eBay but still waiting. i did overhaul my enamel and lacquers section with large quantitites of the new ones from Tamiya and they are excellent....i wish they,d export and stock them here in the US through "normal channels",i had to have all of mine flown in from Taiwan by DHL air couriers. damn shame about what,s happening to Testors recently....during the "heyday" of Model Master, they had just about every sort of paint, tool, supply and accessory a modeler could possibly want/need at a reasonable price compared to imports and always easily obtainable. if Testors really does go bye-bye,i hope some new enterprenuer here can come out with something to fill the vacuum. i,ve heard of a guy in Ohio who makes a line of enamels that are supposedly almost a clone of the old Pactra 'Namel series. not that a big outfit like Rust-O-Leum cares about guys like us anyway....we,re just a drop in the bucket compared to their household/industrial market......also,as long as the USA has a Steel Navy, good'ol Rusty,s ALWAYS gonna have a large contract for topcoat paints, primers and anti-fouling paints.....!

Have you ever tried Privateer Press? P3 line. They are supposedly liquid pigment based.

Thank you for these different tests!
Did you test the mechanical resistance of these paints on your test spoons?
Did you do the test to lightly scratch the back of the spoon with your nail and especially the AK 3rd paint?
What size of needle, dilution rate and pressure?
    Thank you!

Awesome videos. Do you personally recommend acrylics or enamel paints for model painting? What is the best?

    • @barbatosrex9473

I would choose lacquers first then acrylics. Mr Color and Gaia are great lacquers. As for acrylics my personal favorites are Tamiya and Mr Hobby Aqueous. Those acrylics are actually a hybrid acrylic that has a slight solvent mix to them and they spray great. Thanks for watching

Besides their own thinner, what can I use with AK Third Generation?

    • @barbatosrex9473
      @barbatosrex9473  3 роки тому +1

I like to use Ultimate thinners from Universal Model Products. Get them here www.umpretail.com/
Even though they ship from the UK, you will get it in a week. I also use Universal acrylic thinner from Testors

I paint Warhammer 40k and also bolt action ww2 tanks what is the benefit of using glossy paint for gunpla I understand why a model car would need to be glossy but how come gundams are always painted in glossy lacquer paints as the norm in Warhammer 40k glossy paint is never used and always the most Matte paints are best

Glossy = clean and flawless, things that are heavily appreciated in gundam models, gundums are supposed to be well maintained peices of military equipment in the contextthey come from, like a modern battle ship, where in Warhammer there is a technological decay and regression where maintaining equipment is more in replacing parts ancient parts than keeping it spotless. Only the emperor should be in displayed gloss.
