    Hi, Great info!
Just to mention the kind of bottle used for Atom paints tends to dry the paint in the bottle in a relatively short time (a couple of years) sine the air seal isn't great, while I have some Tamiya and Gunze opened 30 years ago and the paint is ok yet.
Ak offers almost twice paint for the same old price, but I do not like their dropper bottles

Thanks for the video Phil, been looking into the Atom series of paints and trying to find out what sort of thinner to use with them. Not sure if I am ready for the leap to spraying lacquer paints and they look to go down super smooth.

I ordered one of the Atom 12 paint ww2 tank sets directly from Mig and was a little disappointed to find out that the first colour, periscope green I believe was a standard older style 17ml pot from the normal range (not an Atom paint at all) It quite clearly states that there is 12 x 20ml pots on the box.😡I love these paints but this practice Is not acceptable.

The plastic bottles have a tendency of going hard at the bottom. Much harder to shake the bottom lose imo. Glad I kept the glass bottles and will just refill.

I've gone 100% acrylic recently and I really enjoy using the AK3G and ATOM ranges. Any plans to review the new AK Real Colors acrylic markers?

I love the ATOM colors, they are my new goto colors for both brush and airbrush. I thin them with 3rd gen, but only 10-20% otherwise i feel they get to thin. I have never really gotten 3rd gen to work with airbrushing.

I use my own DIY thinner which has ipa in it and works GREAT! Ipa alone is the problem.

That's an Interesting test you did with the various thinners and Ammo Atom paint.
ALL the other posters I have seen do similar tests using X20a and MR Levelling Thinner have turned out excellent results and have turned out better than thinning with ammo acrylic thinners Airbrushing results with MLT have been superb.
What lacquer thinner did you use in your test?

I read/saw the same but I just tested what Flory did and had the same (undesirable) results with Mr. Levelling Thinner and 99% IPA. That being said, using the ATOM thinner, these paints have been a game changer for me. They spray beautifully, even the finest lines are no problem, no tip dry whatsoever even after spraying lengthy and fine things like German 'ambush' camo, which is always my benchmark.
They dry so fast and on proper primer they are nearly indestructible. Couldn't scratch them with a finger nail after half an hour, had to use a metal implement for that...
Translucent when you need them and great coverage when you need that. They level out fantastically, brush paint lovely. They are extremely benign and mixing them can be done very much leisurely and they forgive being flooded by levelling out nicely.
I don't know what magic they did but they sure lived up to the marketing hype (for the first time since I use hobby paints), in my experience.
They have now replaced all my other paints (MRP, Tamiya, AK 3rd Gen for brush painting, AK Real colors). Trying out with the new VMS primer in a couple of days.

@@Diregecko Thanks for the response, it's good to get different views from posters.
I was just curious about Mr Flory's lacquer thinner he used in the original video.
I've ordered £50's worth of Atom paints direct as they offered free post to the UK and I'm keen to try them with various thinners and none at all to see if they blend and work with my work.

The Atom paints also thin well with Revell Aqua thinner and Vallejo thinner.

New RC bottles are much easier to use, I dont like the old , they are messy.

I've had a Fengda 183 for about 18 months now, the slightly more expensive one with the Iwata style floating nozzle. It's replaced my H&S Ultra at nearly 1/3 the cost. Absolute bargain.

  • @laszloharsanyi8320

Thanks for the review! Unfortunately the new RC colours are not the same as the old ones - at least not the colour. I have a glass bottle SCC.15 and bought one in the new "livery" and they are VERY different shades of green. Not slightly, very :(.
I also tried the AMMO and those are not exactly sturdy. Very nice to spray them, lived up to the hype, but even after a few days of curing if I scratched the paint with my fingernail it left a mark. Didn't removed it, but the scratchmark was visible. It became shinier than the otherwise very matt paint.

Good to know! I only used them on the test but I'm now hearing that the drying time for the ATOM paints is 48 hours or more.

@@florymodels sounds like an enamel might be better than the atoms if its taking that long to dry/cure

Hi! Ak got a lot of criticism about the SCC15 perhaps they corrected it?
You can look for Mike Starmer reference colors for UK ww2 vehicles

    • @laszloharsanyi8320
      @laszloharsanyi8320 Місяць тому

@@donfulgencionqn I have his updated Tamiya mix list, but haven't tried them yet. However, only the IRL test will tell, if this new AK colour is better or closer to Starmer's take, as screen colours are very, very, very deceptive.
On the other hand, I'm not purist, can live with a slightly different shade as I don't take my models to exhibitions. However, if a company claims that their colour range is "THE" perfect match, even publish a book about it and then launch a VERY different shade a few years later, that raises some questions about their take on accuracy.

Apart from modelling I restore old m/cycles and recently ordered some parts from Strasburg which travelled clear across France and entered the UK within forty eight hours. I recieved a demand for import tax which I expected and sorted. Now two weeks and two Emails later, no response and no parts! Royal Mail is Fecked!

Ohh Phil... You cut back to you when She was obviously sad.. Nice touch. This world is getting crazy. People are gunning/stabbing each other down on our own streets. And we are afraid about terror. You are just Shutting down the "little mans" way of living. I am by no means saying that your business is small, but I hope you get my meaning. Bad guys get their guns, but you get overflowed by paperwork. This is NOT the way... Regards from Denmark....

How is promoting plastic bottles over glass ones greener again? Besides the one time shipping cost? Same ruse as acrylics dispersed in water solubles over more volatile solvents. Y’all sniffing some glue. Fo sho.

It's very annoying all the problems with parcels in the post...even I stopped ordering in the UK......but we all know the reason for that. It wasn't a good choice, I think.I´m sorry for that. Cheers
