Criminally underrated song
those violinists are amazing
True musicians!! So much talent
That cellist is hamilton berry
I hate your guts
To be fair, it’s also just a beautifully composes string part.
The slightly bigger one played at the beginning (between the cello and violin) is a viola. It’s cool to see it more in the lead, because it usually takes the backseat to a violin.
CT and Baio smiling at each other while "woah"ing was the cutest thing
Ezras voice is so unique
CT's face when he starts laughing before the "whoa" part's so cute!!!! Ah!!!
am i the only one still watching this masterpiece every day?
no
I watch it at least twice a week
Taking transit is one of the most inspiring aspects to a writer. This song is proof.
This video reminds me that there are TWO amazing vocalists in Vampire Weekend. The two harmonizing at 2:36 is pure euphony. Utterly in love, especially with this video. Beautiful.
Agreed
And especially sad now because Rostam left :(
Kelly he’s still working closely with the band on their new album, though. So that’s nice. He won’t be on every song but Ezra confirmed he worked in a decent amount of the new record.
One of my favorite pop tunes of the last 20 years. So beautiful
even ezra's hella impressed by the strings 0:39
Everyone playing this is smiling! It's so sweet
Song is a masterpiece 👏🏽👌🏽. I love the ending part where the violins are emphasized, they compliment the rest of the instruments so well.
Interestingly, the cellist in this performance is actually the same person that played cello on the original Vampire Weekend album. His name is Hamilton Berry and he appears to be the only string player in this performance that also played on the original studio recording of this song.
They really captured something special.
Ezra's sweater game is strong.
Still there in 2024 !
I really miss when Vampire Weekend made songs like this
How does this sound identical to the song on the album... Amazing!
Why does this song reduce me to tears, i love it and only listen to it with happy things in mind life doesnt make sense.
I love how everyone smiles in this
Best version!! 💜💜💜
I love this version of this song in the energy of the song itself produces another kind of energy of amazingness.....
Who can't dance to juilliard violins?
We used this song to walk out after our wedding ceremony!
amazeballs!!!
"so go, i know you would not stay"?
ahahahaha Nabila xD
Our first dance was to Step ❤
"dress yourself in bleeding madras, charm your way across the Khyber Pass" at the time it was written seems like a cutting insult, but I suppose Vampire Weekend would be happy for anyone to interpret the lyrics to mean whatever they desire.
@@nadiansyah4301 she's still here 😉
This video fills me with indescribable joy.
this comment section is hella empty last few months :( surely i cant be the only one that still enjoys this daily?
Still my ringtone......my daily fix.
I listen to them whenever I study, they make my soul happy 💖
Me too
Still watching bro, introducing people to it every time
@@maheranam318 letsgo
DAMN that viola player is killin it
GAWWD! THAT EZRAS FACE!!!!!
Chris baio looks exactly like the cello guy
Vampire weekends BEST song
love love love love love love everything and everyone
Anahita i love you tho lol
that viola PART !!
One of the best live band performer!
This band lived the life I wanted to live
Still watching in 2018!!
2020 too....
Ayyy 2023
Rostam :(
Miguel Soria ?
Sean Flores I guess he’s sad because he left the group
i miss him too, its not the same
Why he left?
Nazreen Shah I’ve always assumed that he didn’t like playing second fiddle to Ezra. His solo career has been fine but he hadn’t found the limelight like he hoped he would. I’m still predicting he’ll be back someday.
2022 and still sounds fresh
Can't believe this was 5 years ago... I'm in dire need of a new album
Holy shit the string trio was insane in this
Still watching this in 2016!!!!! AMAZING!
Absolutely!! I love love love it!
2018
2020 and couldn't be more impressed as a brand new VW faithful.
2021
This is fantastic. Can't recommend enough to watch, listen and enjoy this art.
I love this song! It sound even in my wedding
Victor Calderon-Zurita "go I know, you would not stay, it wasn't true, but anyway?"
Those strings are Phenomenal tho!!!!!! Nice!!!
I miss this VW :(
Damn good performance, a shame there wasn't anyone there to clap at the end
reminds me of my teenage years running on walls and shit
BurningChipotleCornhole good ol rub
SOOOOOOO BEAUTIFULLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW that was fucking great!
wholesome
It's going to take a little time
While you're waiting like a factory line
I'll fly across the park
Backseat on the 79
Wasted days you've come to pass
So go I know you would not stay
It wasn't true, but anyway
Pollination yellow cab
You walk up the stairs
See the French kids by the door
Up one more flight
See the Buddha on the second floor
Coronation rickshaw grab
So go I know you would not stay
It wasn't true, but anyway
Racist dreams you should not have
No excuse to be so callous
Dress yourself in bleeding madras
Charm your way across the Khyber pass
Stay awake to break the habit
Sing in praise of Jackson Crowter
Watch yourself along the arch of glass
So here I am making the comments section come to life again! Love this performance!
In my opinion, it’s their best song off their self-titled
@@TimAndMoby hard choice but definitely one of my favorites!
@@TimAndMoby I agree with you there!
damn, they sound hella dope live..
If you look up Jackson crowder Google says he was a room mate of some one in the band . That's cool !!!
So much talent in that room.
Que cancion mas buena
2:28 ♥
Chris baio is playing a fender!!!!!!!
Wonderful!
Amo esta canción
it just gets better and better!!!!!!
exelent !!!!!
Amazing

This is brilliant :-)
Holy Crap this is amazing
Somebody remind me why I don't watch this every day?
the drummers having a hard time keeping it together when then all yell
Nice .... good song
The guy cellist looks like Neville Longbottom.
fiera!

I was on this bus. Looking out the window. Thinking about this video. Feeling strangely connected; part of the living fabric.

"Racist Dreams You Should Not Hide" -Ezra Koenig 2:06
its dun gottin got
Ouch.
Those chicks cut it up.
The under appreciated three other members lol jk but really looks like lots of work 7 people song OMG
Just realized that in this video Rostam looks like David Arculeta
LMAO TRUE
Does anyone know the name of those strings trio?
ㄷ
bunk bed brawl jomm
Violins carry this one. And the kid in the blue shirt is clearly the alpha here.
Is that a Taylor 214 ce?
sheet music
Can someone explain why that man's playing a Spanish guitar instead of steel string?
Lol his side profile on the thumbnail looks way too much like Nathan Fielder
Would 10/10 left j
Is that a Taylor 214ce ?
man I wish they had vioinsists everytime they performed this live the violin version is so much better but hard to find a violonist to add to their touring band
especially since only a few songs require violins and they rotate their song list it would be a waste of time for violinists to commit long term to performing
@@Batman_Fan i know two violinists who might be interested.
