Something similar happened to me playing with Mordor. After ordering his two sons to assault Minas Morgul and have them perish miserably, Denethor left alone for the Black Gate, asking the Lord of the black land for vengeance. What he got was a privileged stay in the dungeons of Barad-dûr.

Hey Galu, I think one thing you often forget to take into account when doing your unit descriptions is the number of soldiers in a unit. You bring it up occasionally when dealing with very numerous trash-tier archers (hobbits and goblins), but you seem to lose sight of it when comparing other units. For example, in this overview, you say that the Osgiliath Veterans have less shots than the Ithilien Rangers, becuase the stat-box lists them at 30 shots vs 36. However, because the Veterans have 25 extra archers in the unit, they will actually put about 150 more arrows into their targets as a unit (I don't know exactly how many non-shooting captains and banner bearers each battalion comes with, so I can't do the exact math, but if they have just one captain apiece, then it comes out to OV 3750 vs IR 3600). This numerical effect is going to be reduced for infantry and cavalry, geometry means they can't all attack at once, but it is a factor worth considering, especially when talking about longevity. It doesn't come up to much in Gondor's roster, but in other factions you will sometimes get units that look very similar in stats, but you don't mention the major difference in unit size. For example, in the Dale roster you talk about Barding Marksmen having a dual function as both archers and line infantry, which is supported by their stat card, but you don't mention that they come with 50 fewer soldiers than the Longbowmen and Swordsmen they are supposed to be upgraded from. In fact, Barding Marksmen, although much better at shooting down medium tier targets are actually inferior to Longbowmen for dealing with swarms of Mirkwood Goblins, and they straight-up lose to Dalian Swordsmen in a melee fight. So in reality, while Bardian Marksmen are a good, versatile unit, they need to be supported by your earlier tier troops, which only makes sense if you take the unit sizes into consideration. Anyhow, I do love these faction overviews, I just want them to keep getting better. Keep up the good work.
Man when I saw the Sons of Numenor unit I was kinda hoping there was some sort of Reunited Kingdom Mechanic, but it sounds like there may be on on the table for the future? I hope! Love me some Arnor!
That unit was intended to be for RK only, but after RK was pushed back they were just made recruitable out of the House of Kings since it'd be a bit of a shame to let them go to waste. After RK is finally out they'll almost certainly go back to being RK only.
Was just watching a faction overview and this pops up. Love watching these, thanks for the uploads and amazing mod! Been following dac for years and loved the evolution of it.
Found one really easy thing to keep mordor away from E.osg. just get a couple of units and siege e.osg. mordor won't attackt, just re-siege each 8 turns. Mordor will then only attack you at cair andros, but will take a couple of turns. So you have time to get the economy together.
Galu will you ever make an army overview for all the mercenary-only units in middle earth? I think it would be quite interesting to see, especially with Bree being able to side with them :)
I started playing this mod in my GCSE days and I still do very occasionally as a uni graduate every now and then. Just thought I’d check the channel out and shocked to see version 4 is out. I still think I’m on 2.0 right now.
i have played Gondor, it was one of the hardest campaigns ever. i would give it 5/5 i have rushed to attack E. osgiliath on 2-3 turn, than i had to destroy an easterling-mordor army coming from the south and than had to rush to minas murgul, than i was attacked while besigiening it, so i had to fight minas murgul battle facing 2 enemies, if i didn't had my ithilien rangers i would have been in a bad situation. after that i had to repel 2 stacks with olog hai trolls , olog hai armored Trolls early game ! just an example: i was left with 1 unit of 15 soldiers and 2 unties with 3-5 soldiers (from 1500-2000 army in Cair andros), that's the impact of the first stack. the second one had faced my better army i have placed in minas murgul, so it did serious damage to melee units, but that's about it. all that while facing ar adunaim raid on the cities, and a clipping money situation, the Gondor economy at early game sucks what i eventually did was to conquer cirith ungul and that black gates and give them to isengard, basically sealing off mordor away from me, than i was able to build my economy and eventually able to afford large armies and navies.
My playthrough of te Ar Ardunaim was rather interesting with regard to the Merchant Guild: I chose to invade Mistrand at game start, and having dealt with Rhun, Dorwinion attacked me out of the blue (a show of post-traumatic retention, if you ask me). In Mistrand, I had found and since upgraded the Merchant Guild, but in the first town from Dorwinion I took, I got another. Never one to back down from turning trade into profit, the purple people-pleasers had apparently upgraded another Master's guild in Caras Scant. Then, taking Carvarad, I realised that they indeed had gotten the Headquarters there. In the end, having conquered Dorwinion, I could field five merchants, who traded the rich metals found in Southern Rhun for eventually over 11.000 gold per turn. Needless to say, where others might conquer the world in order to enslave all human factions under the black banner, my mission in life is now to get as many merchants as I can and create a trading empire, the likes of which has never been seen. PS: I'm also having a lot of fun using my magnificent profits to purchase bits of Morder. It feels so weird to have Sauron sell off swathes of his land to anyone, but here we are. War with Gondor was apparently getting expensive!
Yeah same, I've got 4 merchants sitting around thanks to Gondor rebuilding the 2nd tier of the merchant guild adn then me capturing it :) Once a nation loses a settlement with an upgraded guild, they get the offer to upgrade one of their existing guilds to that level. And thus, if you slowly take down a nation with that 2nd tier of merchant guild, you can get them in pretty much every one of their cities because of how the guild system works :)
I don’t know if it’s possible but I think a good thing to implement would be to have large armies in Minas morgul, Morronon, and Cirith Ungol but not having them be able to move. To make so rushing Gondor right of the back is really hard but you also don’t lose osgiliath and Cair Andros in 20 turns ti Mordors huge armies they have right off the back plus all of their Nazgûl.
So I just did the math, Lossarnach Axemen are extremely cost effective against Minas Ithil Guardians. Effectively the Guardians have 16 defense against the axemens armor piercing axes, whereas the axemen have their full 17 defense. While the guardians still have twice as much attack, the ace men will still trade extremely effectively
I have a minor suggestion that has been bugging me for a while now, why do the Ithelien rangers have more accuracy than the Dunedain, while the Dunedain have more attack? It feels like it should be the other way around, because the Ithelien rangers have the backing of the forges of Gondor for their arrowheads, whilst the Dunedain have lived their lives in the forests of Eriador.
And what enemy did the Dunedain of the north have faced ? Snaga ? Gondor is fighting for hundreads of years regular battles involving thousands of combatants. Of all Rangers, the Ithilien ones are the ones with the most experience bar none, they operate literally on Mordor`s front lawn.
@@Shatterfury1871 Very true, though, despite that, It is still said that the Rangers of the North are still better, as rangers/archery though I think, than the Rangers of Ithilien. And I guess that I live with that (unless they start getting called better in things beyond the forces and abilities themselves, so experience, because there's no way the south gets even touched on experience by the north ones, for the said and obvious reasons; Gondor can't be touched in many of his forces, let alone their vanguard and most active one and in an experience topic), it's not as shocking as seeing the general Gondor, so the one carrying and doing the heavy lifting (aside carrying his two allies to begin with), regularly and for centuries, in the defense vs the shadow and with Mordor itself as the opponent with Sauron having It as his main target aside the ring, being evenly compared/disrespected to Rohan in general or something.
@@dusk6159 Ithilien rangers have never been directly compared to their counterpart, and they did not fighg behind Gondor's armies, but on their own in Ithilien, as Gondor's sole regular force in the region. Moreover botg groups were made up of Dunedain of notable quality.
It would seem balanced if there are bonuses Denethor gives when Mordor is destroyed and him still alive to reward the player, giving an incentive more than roleplay but probably rational event since Denethor wouldn't deteriorate further and improve previous deterioration from decades of influence.
Hi Arachir. Just wanted to thank you for your hard work. Both on UA-cam and the forum. I really enjoy playing the submod while this is a very hard time for me. Cheers!
One of they key changes is that having siege units n your armies doesnt reduce your campaign movement speed.Gondor has access to trebuchets and the biggest problem they have as an army roster is the lack of tactical superiority since they lack cav and archers.I think that now having trebuchets in their armies is a must.
Thanks for removing the requirement to rebuild Osgiliath to recruit the Guards of Osgiliath. They single handedly won me my campaign when I had to go up against Nazgûl and fully upgraded Uruk-hai.
Looks like Blackroot Vale Archers are Ready to fight the Corona Virus :P love your videos though and Gondor is just amazing with how many unique units/bodyguards are in it. Something small but would love to see Osgiliath Guards and Sons of fallen maybe get a Halberd look Upgrade. The weapons seem very rough and not clean polished like other unit weapons. Maybe a Lucerne Hammer look for Osgiliath Guards something like a Pole Hammer.
I hope one day you guys could be able to create a custom map of Pelargir if that's possible. As the heart of Gondor's naval operations and sea trade it is arguably one their most important settlements next to Minas Tirith. However the concept art and images of it are quite complex so I don't know if this can even be possible in the game.
@Zachary Brinson true, but it would be fun to talk about, since every mercenary unit is extra important for certain factions. sellswords are, as an example, a very usefull mercenary for any western good faction, because they can cut through hordes of goblin and wildmen trash.
note that in minas tirith you can recruit gondor infantry spermen and archers from turn 1 because you have your barracks at a higher tier. so you dont have to wait for the barracks event
Anyone always crash on cair andros battle map? idk if this is one of the things getting fixed in 4.5 or not. i have played to turn 200 on 4 factions so far and no issues but gondor crash at that battle map every time
"Mordor has only trash in the early game" I just lost both Cair Andros and E. Osgiliath like fifteen turns in because Mordor threw a massive amount of heavy infantry at me like Morannon guard, who are dummy powerful.
Mordor campaign its even more fun, Gondor have 2 full stacks armys, one with post barracks gondorians and another with a mix of early gondor and post-barracks amrothians, good luck fighting that whit only morranon guard, orc archers and orc maulers
@@marcelpopa347 Mordor is a very easy campaign. This is coming from someone who lost their Gondor campaign at turn 46 trust it’s easy. You just need to stay in Mordor for the first 10-15 turns. You just have to watch out for khand turning on you and sending 2 full stacks of elite troops through your back 💀
I guess Khand. My reasoning comes from the descriptions you made at 56:30. They have fast cavalry, their units are slightly golden and red and, most importantly, many of their cavalry units are archer cavalry.
That perfect for speed running to complete the game has fast of possible. Also I defeated mordor entirely in 18 turns but I lost both boromir and farmare in taking their last settlement xd
As a naval power, I'm surprised that Gondor does not have crossbowmen. In the Hundred Years' War. France hired Genoese crossbowmen. I learend that the Italian crossbowmen evoved out of Genoa and Venice being strong naval poweres by virtue of being primarily merchant ciy-states I would also think that, as the kingdom of the Numenorean Faithful, the Gondorians would also have strong relations with the Elves and could get some Elvish archers

@@SpacePatrollerLaser This 11 months later, but the Numenoreans had little need for crossbows, what with the steel-bows providing both a strong punch, and a lengthy range advantage against most counterparts. Of course Gondor did not have access to steel-bows at this point, with either the design being forgotten, too expensive to produce, or unwieldable by the Gondorians, what with most of them losing their Dunedain gifts to the point that they barely lived beyond a century, rather than the two or three they did on Numenor. Furthermore, crossbows were never really mentioned in the book, as LOTR was set more in an early or mid medieval period setting, with plate armour receiving either no mention, or only hinted at in regards to the Swan Knights. Also, Gondor was far away from any remaining Elven realms, what with Edhellond being abandoned long ago, meaning they had few relations with Elves, especially at this point in the Third Age, where Gondor had little ability to strike beyond its immediate neighbours, unlike the past, when Gondor could host armies all the way in far Eriador
i dont knw if some people know this exploit but if you put a single unit on the bridge between the two osgiliaths. the ai wont sally out to attack meanining you only have to defend against mordor only at cair andros
Territorial Guardsmen just look soo good, in later game from all militia I tend to use only them just for the looks :) And now even other militia don black/white colours, can't wait to play them when 4.5 Is out :)
Gondor is absolutely impossible. I can spread out my forces in the west to maximize my economy where I'm going positive and I can hold Osgiliath. My issue is Cair Andros is always constantly getting attacked every single turn and I can't replenish my troops, but Mordor also seems to have all 9 nazgul right away and stacked in one army so I CAN'T hold Cair Andros with a good army anyway because they melt through my army. This was by turn 9! I thought Mordor was supposed to be scripted to get a nazgul every 10 turns?
when mordor take east osgiliath siege them with 2-3 units they never sally out, repeat the siege all the time. this way you have only cair andros to defend, put alla ilithien rangers and faramir to command there and 2-3 generals to counter elite mordor troops and all else can be cheap ass militia to hold the line in the fortess courtyard as the rangers blow them up. that can hold them forever and when u build the siege engines will be impossible for mordor to take it
Idk if I’m just bad but I only made it to turn 46 before I considered it a defeat😂. I fought like hell but in the end I was so outnumbered by Mordor. Like I couldn’t even get fresh troops into settlements like cair andros and osgiliath because they were always under siege. I had lost both osgiliaths.( I had claimed eastern osgiliath but couldn’t get fresh troops into it). I lost Boramir and the axe guy. I had roughly 5 units in minis tirith and 11 in cair andros. Both under Seige by full stacks. Mordor also had 4 EXTRA 3/4 full stacks chillin on the east side of the anduin and a half full Nazgûl army about to leave minis morgul. I was just like “bro I tried”😂.
In a shattered alliances campaign I invaded Dol Amroth looking to get access to their units, but It didnt give me any from unique buildings/normal garrison buildings, and I cant build the Amrothian Barracks anywhere but Tarnost. I guess it doesnt really make sense to me that you can train Amrothian troops in tarnost, but not in Dol Amroth. Given that Dol Amroth is just a fiefdom of gondor, I would think there would be some way to get a limited roster from them (kind of like how the N dunedain used to work with the beacon of hope before it was changed)
They do once the barracks event happens you get like 3 or 4 cav units and 2 infantry units. Gondor isn’t a beacon nation so you can’t conquer human nations and get their troops
Not even playing Medieval 2 anymore, and just fully engrossed in Bannerlord. Yet i watch your videos. It relaxes me somehow, amidst all the chaos outside. Have you ever done videos on the M&B Warband LOTR mod?
I feel like the horse of the pinnath galin cav and the gondor cav should be switched. Especially taking in the new charge bonus formula, the more armoured horse is more fit for a heavy charge elite unit I feel
What is the song at 43:38, it's very common in the faction overviews but I can't find it in the channels linked in the descr. EDIT: Never mind I just found it, if anyone is interested its ua-cam.com/video/jiwuQ6UHMQg/v-deo.html and it is called "Where I belong", also many other songs from the overviews are there.
I was recently playing isengard, and the same kept crashing at the same point around round 70 after i had claimed the ring as saruman. Are such crashes what is beging fixed in 4.5?
I had a crash with Ered Luin at the end turn and how i fixed it was by loading the auto save moving my general that was attacking a city ended the turn the game crashed again i then loaded that auto save and its been fine since. Not sure if this will help.
You really crippled Gondor’s economy in this. It’s almost as bad as Dale’s at this point. Let some of the settlements like Pelagir and Minas Tirith make more at the start because you can’t even field your starting army without leaving 8 units in your forts else you go bankrupt
I spent all of the initial money on building buildings that gave free upkeep, just to stabilize my losses. After that, I had negative income for about 10 turns or so, until I managed to cheese the two western settlements with the general cav(only sieging with a cav unit lures the enemy to sally out, so that you can lead them to the edge of the map and then rush the town square).
@Brett Mitchell until you finish off Mordor and go after Isengard. Then you realize most of your post-barracks infantry aren't that good, your archers do nothing against their armor and your cav is only good if they are the Dol Amroth version that can only be recruited in Tarnost.
The nerf to Gondor was way too extreme, I get that it's meant to be a challenge but currently it's way overboard on VH VH ofc. If ur gonna give more doomstacks to Mordor at least make them fightable pre baracks event, because currently the Uruk/Rhun/Nazgul deathstack combo is impossible to deal with in the first few turns, without a 95% chance of losing your best generals to combat the spam. Good luck fighting these units with militia and guardsmen.
It is actually quite possible if you know how. Step 1: pull your Ithilien rangers back and spread them out over Cair Andros and Osgiliath. Step 2: remember that sallying out doesn't mean you have to rout the enemy. Simply going out with your archers and unloading all of their ammo and then coming back in allows you to deplete the enemy army by 1/3 to 2/3 quite easily without losing any troops. Step 3(optional): Turn off the battle timer. If you deplete their forces by about ~10% with archers and then pull back, the AI will follow you all the way to the walls. Your towers will then start firing with infinite ammo, while the AI will just sit still and take it. You will need to quickly push your general out a few times to get the AI to reorganize their units to get fresh troops in range of the towers. I literally defended Cair Andros with an Ithilien ranger and a couple of milita archers against full doom stacks without any sweat(though it was quite boring).
17:00 May someone please explain to me how to build that Numenorean Foundry in Minas Tirith? It's under the Castle tab but the city is a "Huge City" not a castle. Its rather frustrating because the only reason I played Gondor was to have those shiny white knights fighting the char black orcs of Mordor. Yet, without that Foundry I can't make the armour.
Shouldn't Denethor get a better bodyguard unit like maybe fountain guard? Considering he's you know, a very important figure in Gondor being it's leader and all. I find it very weird for him to have a standard bodyguard

Pike bodyguards aren't very useful. Any other elite bodyguard would cost you a lot every turn. See 45:40 in the video.
@ a unit of citadel guards could be recruited after x turns and Denethor's bodyguard would be housed for free. At the same time citadel guard could be restricted only to Minas Tirith, and to only one unit.
I feel like the madness script could do with some caveats. Taking back cities from Mordor should have a positive effect on Denethor's mind; it's hard to push someone into despair when they're winning land with every fight and you're increasingly on the defensive. In my game, I had Barad-dur in my hands and Mordor was restricted to a few mountain provinces and I was still getting 'Denethor is falling into despair!' warnings. I crushed Mordor soon enough and ended it, but by that stage in affairs, I should have had Sauron's palantir and the matter should have been over. Denethor's madness came from the overwhelming odds he was facing as much as his losing mental battle with Sauron. If anything, I'd expect *Mordor* to start sufffering penalties once Denethor has the military upper hand.
The overview could have been much shorter, something like "Gondor is fantastic".... Now let's see who are we up against 😀 If Pinnath Gaelin cavalry is fantastic, what can we say about the Eldarinwe Lancers (Roquen)? Can't wait for the HE overview, will count their "fantastic" units 😀

That unit was intended to be for RK only, but after RK was pushed back they were just made recruitable out of the House of Kings since it'd be a bit of a shame to let them go to waste. After RK is finally out they'll almost certainly go back to being RK only.
@ Man plz, give the people some Reunited kingdoms, the mod's quality will skyrocket(with already being high).
P.S A gondor fanboy speaking :p
I'm crossing my fingers that Reunited Kingdoms scripts are still a possibility with the Dunedain at least
Confirmed to be coming in V5
21:30 "If Denethor is killed, whether willingly or unwillingly..." it's like you are reading my mind.
Was just watching a faction overview and this pops up. Love watching these, thanks for the uploads and amazing mod! Been following dac for years and loved the evolution of it.
I will not go to bed... New faction overview, sleep can wait
Pathetic.
The Denethor script is a lovely lore touch. Nice job DAC team
Found one really easy thing to keep mordor away from E.osg. just get a couple of units and siege e.osg. mordor won't attackt, just re-siege each 8 turns. Mordor will then only attack you at cair andros, but will take a couple of turns. So you have time to get the economy together.
You can do the same at Cair Andros. Constantly Seige, Reseige and then Mordor cant cross. LOL
Craig Johnson it’s wayyyyyy better now than v2. It’s come a very long way
I really like faction overviews, I'm quite new to the mode, so for me those are fantastic to get acquainted to game.
It would be nice with a "best general" video. With all the custom generals of the game.
Also ofc the next factions must be the High Elves!
i have played Gondor, it was one of the hardest campaigns ever. i would give it 5/5
i have rushed to attack E. osgiliath on 2-3 turn, than i had to destroy an easterling-mordor army coming from the south and than had to rush to minas murgul, than i was attacked while besigiening it, so i had to fight minas murgul battle facing 2 enemies, if i didn't had my ithilien rangers i would have been in a bad situation.
after that i had to repel 2 stacks with olog hai trolls , olog hai armored Trolls early game ! just an example: i was left with 1 unit of 15 soldiers and 2 unties with 3-5 soldiers (from 1500-2000 army in Cair andros), that's the impact of the first stack.
the second one had faced my better army i have placed in minas murgul, so it did serious damage to melee units, but that's about it.
all that while facing ar adunaim raid on the cities, and a clipping money situation, the Gondor economy at early game sucks
what i eventually did was to conquer cirith ungul and that black gates and give them to isengard, basically sealing off mordor away from me, than i was able to build my economy and eventually able to afford large armies and navies.
Great overview, I wish everyone a happy easter Sunday, I hope you are all doing well in these darker times
My playthrough of te Ar Ardunaim was rather interesting with regard to the Merchant Guild:
I chose to invade Mistrand at game start, and having dealt with Rhun, Dorwinion attacked me out of the blue (a show of post-traumatic retention, if you ask me).
How the fuck did you get to mistrand?
@@swamperytooter8891 He moved his army there instead of taking Umbar
@@goryanadazaghal1206 yes i know you can go whereever you want but like from the anduin mistrand is very far away
@@swamperytooter8891 why most of the time i start in dorwinion
Playing Gondor VH/VH on vanilla third age: "Abandon your posts, flee! Flee for your lives!"
The most dangerous thing about Mordor is that rhun army that it gets which is basically unbeatable if it comes at you within 5 to 10 turns.
Farmhand Pikemen, aka, “The Bridge Holders”.
I think it’s just to give Gondor more help against Mordor
It's an insanely difficult game for Gondor. They should cut unkeep cost of troops.
"Some horse archers in there...."
Rhun
"Bits of gold in there too"
Rhun
"Youve prolly guessed it by now, high elves!"
....
I love the Rightebruder wings on the helms of Gondor elites .
Thanks for removing the requirement to rebuild Osgiliath to recruit the Guards of Osgiliath. They single handedly won me my campaign when I had to go up against Nazgûl and fully upgraded Uruk-hai.
Can't wait to see all the changes to the N. Dunedain script
Another solid overview! Thanks for covering the factions in such detail, helps me pick what to play next
Always an exciting sight on a Sunday morning. Love this overviews
So I have a question, just out of curiosity, is there any plans to give the osgiliath guard a visual upgrade?
They should already have a visual upgrade from blacksmith like most gondor units. The osgiliath veterans are arguably the most affected and beautiful
I did a spit take when you showed the family. The image of Húrin is King Richard from Galavant and that is phenomenal.
Ohh gold!
Anyone remembers that?
Darth pal Palzang haha i say his phrase all the time... even when I find a penny out in the real world haha etc

Should put in a script where you can call for aid from other factions
And who will come? Elves? Dwarves? We are not so lucky in our friends as you. The old alliances are dead.
Just three words, Gondor. Is. Awesome!
Yes! The high Elves are next!
I hope one day you guys could be able to create a custom map of Pelargir if that's possible. As the heart of Gondor's naval operations and sea trade it is arguably one their most important settlements next to Minas Tirith. However the concept art and images of it are quite complex so I don't know if this can even be possible in the game.
will you do a mercenary overview?
@Zachary Brinson true, but it would be fun to talk about, since every mercenary unit is extra important for certain factions. sellswords are, as an example, a very usefull mercenary for any western good faction, because they can cut through hordes of goblin and wildmen trash.
@@weenniethepoop5667 sarlain mercenaries and axe men privateers are decent units too.
Good to see Gondor can still be a challenge cant wait for the High Elves video
Gondor calls for aid! And Arachîr Galudirithon will answer!
note that in minas tirith you can recruit gondor infantry spermen and archers from turn 1 because you have your barracks at a higher tier. so you dont have to wait for the barracks event
Solid piece of sunday enjoyment! Can't wait for the dunedain overview.
Anyone always crash on cair andros battle map? idk if this is one of the things getting fixed in 4.5 or not. i have played to turn 200 on 4 factions so far and no issues but gondor crash at that battle map every time
Un-Upgraded gondor militia in winter cause it to crash
"Mordor has only trash in the early game"
I just lost both Cair Andros and E.
Build up trash army’s and economy at seregost. ALWAYS Seige cair andros and East osgiliath while you clean up east anduin regions. Then you just prepare your armies and sweep Gondor.
Oh bolex. I promise, I will get ONE faction right!
DannyO_swan do you mean bollocks?
That perfect for speed running to complete the game has fast of possible. Also I defeated mordor entirely in 18 turns but I lost both boromir and farmare in taking their last settlement xd
As a naval power, I'm surprised that Gondor does not have crossbowmen. In the Hundred Years' War. France hired Genoese crossbowmen. I learend that the Italian crossbowmen evoved out of Genoa and Venice being strong naval poweres by virtue of being primarily merchant ciy-states
I would also think that, as the kingdom of the Numenorean Faithful, the Gondorians would also have strong relations with the Elves and could get some Elvish archers
Maybe because crossbow is from dwarves and Gondor doesnt have a dwarves neighbour??
@@zaki6548 The arbulest is the ideal reanged weapon for medieval shipboard combat. Being premier sailors one would think that the Numenoreans would have developed it well before the island fell and the dwarves got it from them. Also, weapns travel, by the 15th century this was in use from East to West, North to South. Did anyone know that the wood from which the famous English longbow was made did not grow anywhere near England. Staves of Yew were imported from Italy
. DIT ua-cam.com/video/S8pivOifGFQ/v-deo.html
Not sure if it's intended but I've noticed that archer militia carry shields but still have a 0 value in the shield stat.
Yes the high elves, my favorite faction
Best thing to watch on sunday outstanding video as always
i dont knw if some people know this exploit but if you put a single unit on the bridge between the two osgiliaths. the ai wont sally out to attack meanining you only have to defend against mordor only at cair andros
@Zachary Brinson i meant it more as an exploit tip rather than asking for it to be fixed, hope it makes ur campaign easier
Territorial Guardsmen just look soo good, in later game from all militia I tend to use only them just for the looks :)
And now even other militia don black/white colours, can't wait to play them when 4.5 Is out :)
Are there any plans for scripts or events regarding the "Return of the King", to replace the regent?
I was really hoping to hear about the Arnor script... But no luck
There isnt one. That is for V5.
YEEEEESSSS! I can't wait for Rohan though. They are my favorite faction!
I thought Mordor was supposed to be scripted to get a nazgul every 10 turns?
the only solution for that is to quickly take minas murgul and black gate and give them to someone else, then Mordor can't touch you.
Gotta use siege weapons homie
when mordor take east osgiliath siege them with 2-3 units they never sally out, repeat the siege all the time. this way you have only cair andros to defend, put alla ilithien rangers and faramir to command there and 2-3 generals to counter elite mordor troops and all else can be cheap ass militia to hold the line in the fortess courtyard as the rangers blow them up. that can hold them forever and when u build the siege engines will be impossible for mordor to take it
Idk if I’m just bad but I only made it to turn 46 before I considered it a defeat😂.
HIGH ELVES YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!! CAN'T WAIT
Yes a High Elves faction overview is very much wanted!

Gondor is wild fire i tell you that
You really crippled Gondor’s economy in this.
Then you realize most of your post-barracks infantry aren't that good, your archers do nothing against their armor and your cav is only good if they are the Dol Amroth version that can only be recruited in Tarnost.
downloading now cant wait. the day i decide i want to play third age again and there happens to be a new patch :D
Its 6am and I havent slept yet you bastard
@ Well, you could simply made citadel guard available in the same way that fountain guard is.
@@valentintapata2268 Not without making Minas Tirith very powerful at turn 1 as a recruitment centre.
FOR GONDOR !!
i think denethor should get his high upkeep bodyguard back so that he more clearly represents the high upkeep burden than he is
