Opening scene of Lisa on Youth with You season 2, she open the show by dancing on stage infront of all trainee. That was so beautiful dance. Youth with you season 2, stage show of dance mentor Lisa.
That's why during the 5 years of being a trainee Lisa receives an A grade with every evaluation. Lisa wasn't in YG's plans, but YG had to choose her because of her talent. She was born to do this.
This is from a show called "Youth With You" (produced in China by a large production company called IQIYI (pronounced "ai-chee-yi). The first season she did was with 109 female trainees/contestants competing for a spot on a 9-member group that would debut with record deals, concert deals, etc. The second season was with 118 male trainees/contestants (also competing for a spot on a 9-member group. In addition to mentoring throughout the show each season, Lisa also did an "introductory" dance performance at the beginning of the season, did a dance demonstration to show the contestants a new choreography that they would have to master as part of the competition and, toward the end of the season, collaborated with a team of contestants that she picked out of contestants who wanted to be on her team. You can find videos for all of these. For example: "Stage Show of Dance Mentor Lisa" shows her introductory dance for Season 1. Dance Mentor Lisa "Lover" & "Intentions" shows her introductory dance for season 2. Collab Stage: Team Lisa - "Kick Back" shows a video she did with her team during season 2, etc....
'Youth with You' was a chinese reality idol çøntest where potential trainees from different chinese entertainment companies came together to fight for the newest idol group. 9 out of about 400 were chosen by chinese fans to be the top best contestants and they were signed-up by a large entertainment company who came up with this idea. Lisa was the only Korean idol invited to be their dance mentor. There were other mentors in charge of other elements. That was also how I got to know about Blackpink and became an avid fan from watching Lisa in that show. She left a very deep impression in me. Lisa was not just a tough cookie. She can also become be soft and sweet. She even cried when the last 9 was announced. One of the girls whom Lisa hope would made the cut did not got in and Lisa cried for her. All the girls loved Lisa. Every single one of them adored and respected her. I, personally was very moved by her humanity. She came across as being very real and truthful. She never faked a single emotion. Here is a clip that shows how endearing Lisa was at the show. ua-cam.com/video/m2j92wniMug/v-deo.html
Thanks for your reaction. For context, this is a show where 109 trainees/contestants (divided into graded groups) trained and competed (for several months) for a spot on 9-girl group (the big prize) that would then be supported with a big budget and production support for releasing music, perform in a national concert tour and have endorsement deals. Lisa was invited to be in charge of mentoring them to help them improve and polish their dancing skills. One thing to keep in mind with this "tough mentor" video is that it is essentially a compilation of some of the most intensely "strict" moments in her mentoring -- under conditions where she only had limited time to meet with each group and spot the most glaring problems in each group and help them fix those problems. Typically, the trainees would have around three days to prepare a performance for each round of competition. 109 trainees divided into several groups, based on A, B, C, D and F rankings of the trainees. And Lisa only had an hour or less with each group during their 3-day preparation for a "one-take" competition where the individual members would be rated (and some eliminated). Unfortunately, there was no time at all to spend significant one-on-one relaxed and empathetic individualized coaching. Everything was in the group setting and when a problem was spotted it became the responsibility of the whole group to help each other polish, based on the advice Lisa gave them. Accordingly, Lisa couldn't spend a lot of time trying hard to be diplomatic and tender. That would have wasted her time and the trainees' time (and the trainees/contestants understood that fully). In the case of the unsmiling girl, she was a rapper who had always projected a tough, cool image. Lisa spotted that her biggest weakness was that she didn't seem to think the facial expressions and smiling were a high priority. After her "wake-up call" from Lisa, she started focusing on her expressions and was praised by many for it. She ended up in the top 10 at the end of the show. The "tough mentor" video is not fully representative of Lisa's overall mentoring style. She was also very generous with praise and encouragement when it was deserved. For the most part, Lisa was usually smiling and cheering for them, while just matter-of-factly pointing out errors and showing them how to fix them. For example, there's a video of her with Yvonne Wang where she smiles and gets up and dances with the trainees when they forgot the moves. Another one where she hugged every member of the team because they did such a good job, etc. The "mentor Lisa in a nutshell" videos show some of those types of moments.
Thanks for the reaction! The thing is, Lisa said that she doesn't even consider her way of mentoring as very strict cause she said it is not even close to how strict their teachers was with them...so she was kind of shocked when she saw the student's interview saying that they feared her the most... which is kinda sad because on season 3 Lisa toned it down a lot, which is why I liked season 2 better cause she was unfiltered.
You do have to give south Korea props with the way they train there pop stars it's harsh but they are well prepared for life in the entertainment industry.
@@verygood9452 yup she's diffinitely toned it down on season 2 cuz she said that she'll tone it down because she realizes that she's being tough on season 1, but in season 2 when they didn't really get it right she'll turn into a tough one as one of the trainees said in season 2 lisa will get tough if they didn't get it right. But u know lots of the boys in season two knows how to dance
LOL you are just like me when it comes in remembering the seasons. Lisa did not start mentoring untill season 2. Season 1 the beginning of this show was with males and she was not the mentor for dance. When season 2 came up they asked her cause the dance mentor from the first season had no real experience with females to what I heard. So yea she came in on season 2 and then 3.
the girls were on a survival show it's obvious that Lisa has to tell them the truth since she went through the same thing and Lisa got an A on every test at YG when she was a traine.
