- You can still not buy the Atari VCS in Europe. Via a detour I managed to order one from the Netherlands. In this video I tell you how this went. I also show you how to install the VCS, with its usual update problems.
Because many are not aware that Atari still exists and it has also released a system, we will briefly go through the history of the Atari name.
Finally, I also show that you can use the Rii X8 keyboard very handy with the Atari VCS.

Excelente video. Somos pocos los que tenemos un Atari VCS, pero es una excelente consola. Ojalá vaya creciendo la comunidad y Atari le dé mayor soporte.
El Atari VCS todavía no está disponible fuera de EE. UU. Pero afortunadamente nos va mejor con el 2600+ y el 400 mini.
Wat ontzettend tof om dit verhaal te horen! Ik heb hem zelf ook net binnen. Ook net de Black Friday Sale gemist vanwege onzekerheid voor transport naar NL, en ook in de holiday sale kunnen springen. Ik heb de mijne ondertussen uitgerust met een interne SSD, geheugen uitgebreid, en de heating pad vervangen voor Arctic MX4 koelpasta. Maar ben nog aan het kijken hoe ik hem het beste kan gebruiken. Ik denk een toegewijde Retro machine voor aan de TV toch wel mijn voorkeur heeft. Leuk te horen dat er meer nederlanders zijn met het apparaat!
Wat leuk, nog een VCS in Nederland. Je hebt hem al direct volledig uitgebreid, zo te zien. Wel grappig dat, ondanks dat de VCS niet verkrijgbaar is in Nederland, wel al veel hier gebeurd rondom de VCS. Zo heb je Orange Pixel, wat een Nederlandse software ontwikkelaar is. En de programmeurs achter Unsung Warriors zijn ook Nederlanders. En nu heb je weer dat Atari gaat samenwerken met Utomik, een bedrijf uit Eindhoven. Atari moet echt snel de VCS in Europa gaan uitbrengen.

Een jaar geleden hetzelfde gedaan, speel er bijna dagelijks op. Mijn zoon van 2,5 jaar oud vind BPM boy leuk om naar te kijken. Windows 11 draait goed vanaf een erg snelle USB stick, hiermee draai ik emulators.
Wat goed, nog een VCS in Nederland! Ik wil zeker ook Windows gaan installeren. Ik dacht zelf aan een externe harddisk, maar als een snelle USB stick ook werkt, is dat ook te overwegen.
Nice overview of the Atari VCS for beginners. I ordered one during the 50%-off sale end of last year. Good to learn that before I can play any games, I have to jump through a lot of hoops to be able to update the system. I can see why this system isn't a success :)
Atari must find a solution to the update problem fast. I think you can't sell a system that doesn't work out of the box.
@@gespy I received my Atari VCS today and had no problems updating the machine. In about 20 minutes all updates were done and I was playing games from the Atari VCS Vault.
Hi, great video. I just got my new VCS import from USA into UK. Just a quick question: did you need a step-up transformer to adjust from US to European voltage? Or can I plug it straight in?
I was able to plug it straight in. The power supply is 110-240 volts. I only had to connect another power cable.

It depends where you live. Here in the Netherlands I bought it at Bol.com, but you can also buy it at Amazon.com (www.amazon.com/Keyboard-Rii-Portable-Controller-Rechargeable/dp/B07D2BG6R5)

I actually like that keyboard mouse combo. I might look into that
