    Great video 👍👍👍
    May I know why do we need to do the homing ? What is the importance of it other than the start up alarm. I have a PNC machine and it works without homing.

      Hi Ravi. you usually home the machine to find it's absolute zero in every axis. Nearly all CNC machines need to do this. However, more modern machine with absolute encoders do not need to do this anymore. An example is my Syil X7 CNC mill running the LNC or Siemens controller with an absolute encoder servo system. Hope this makes sense mate? Cheers, Aaron.

    Great videos keep it up, What are you using to control your factory spindle with masso, cheers

    • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering

      G'day Peter. Thanks for watching mate. Unfortunately I wasn't controlling the spindle with the Masso when I built this. I was still turning it on manually. However, the Masso is capable of controlling that function. I have since sold this machine and moved on to a turn key Syil X7. Cheers, Aaron

      @@DCT_Aaron_Engineering I do to, it was this Video that persuaded me to try it out and there's 4 Hercus machines that need an upgrade also!

      Spoke to Jatinder Anthony. He doesn’t have any older generation 2’s left unfortunately. How’s the conversion coming along? Send me a pic on FB when you get a chance 😉

    Nice! Is that the correct way for the jog to work? I get that it's the head relationship that is referenced. I have mine setup up so that the keys move the table in the direction they point. Way easier for me to keep track of when jogging around. But....when using the pendant, it's the way you have yours setup. Hmm.....I've broken a couple of haimer tips that's to the difference. lol So.....do all the commercial machines jog the way you have yours setup?

      bluehandsvideo hey Mike. I had you in mind and kept the video to 5mins long. See the effect you have on me ha ha ha. Yes mate, when jogging you envisage which direction you want the spindle to travel (not the table). However it is opposite for gantry style machines like CNC routers.

      Joe Musso The original one that came with the mill. Brushless DC motor.

    Nicely done Aaron. There seems to be more and more interest in this unit all the time. I understand the G and M code is somewhat limited at this point, and no backlash support. Your thoughts?

    • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering
      @DCT_Aaron_Engineering  7 років тому

      Hi Rus, yes. you are correct. It doesn't have backlash support at the moment. But Jatinder from Hind Technologies is adding more and more features constantly. He has assured me that backlash compensation is a high priority that will be added this year. I'm not sure about the G & M code that you've mentioned. The Masso is running version 3 software now so maybe these have been addressed. Cheers mate, Aaron.

      Is it possible to do drill cycles like G82 and G83?

    • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering
      @DCT_Aaron_Engineering  7 років тому

      Hi Ryan, you are correct. It currently doesn't support G80, G81, G82 or G83 drilling cycles. Hopefully Hind Tech can rectify this ASAP.

    After sometime using Masso, do you think it worths it?

      Hi Ro. To answer your question, YES I do. I personally know the man behind Masso (Jatinder) and he is a passionate and honest person. He is constantly updating and evolving the Masso CNC unit. That is my honest opinion. Sincerely Aaron.

    Aaron, you didn't explain why you homed your X-axis to the right? Interested to know...?

    • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering
      @DCT_Aaron_Engineering  7 років тому

      Hi Jeff, yes I was trying to keep the video under 5mins and hence omitted that explanation. Upon homing my machine (table to the front / left) all movements from this point are in a negative direction. When setting the work offset via software it would add the machine X - Y value instead of subtracting it. This is a software glitch and I have to wait for Jatinder to fix the bug. Hope this explains why. Cheers, Aaron.

    Hi Aaron I have a question to ask you about this controller. I tried to email you but couldn't get past the I am not a robot" question. How can I contact you?

      Hello Dsii, I don't want to post my email address here as spammers get it. You can send me a channel message or your email address via a channel message. That way it remains private. Cheers, Aaron.

      @DCT_Aaron_Engineering  7 років тому

      Thank you, I made this machine myself. I bought a Chinese milling machine and converted it to CNC using closed loop steppers and drivers etc... I used the Masso CNC controller to control it. Cheers, Aaron.

    It's great you're doing this, but please don't dumb it down. If someone is smart enough to build their own CNC machine, they probably don't need to know how to turn it on, what an 'enter' key is or any tutorials on how to press buttons on keyboards. Keep it short, sweet and technical please.

    • @DCT_Aaron_Engineering
      @DCT_Aaron_Engineering  5 років тому

      Hello Daniel, thank you for watching and for providing feedback. I don't believe that I'm dumbing it down (per se), but as an educator I shoot my videos with the novice in mind. From experience, what actually seems simple to you and I isn't always that simple for other people. This is because we all learn at different rates and with different styles (i.e. visual, auditory, and kinaesthetic). I understand that some people do build their own CNC machines, but many others purchase a machine that has already been set up. For example someone bought this machine from me, and they were a complete novice. I appreciate your time and thanks for commenting. Enjoy your day. Sincerely Aaron.
