Interesting. Definitely different than what I'm used to with mach3. I use the same Edge tool setter.....LOVE it!!!!
So, do you just hang onto that number for the spindle(zero tool) for down the road when you add another tool, or do you just go ahead and remeasure the spindle height first? I wouldn't think that it would change, so in my mind, remeasuring it would not be necessary.
    What's the zero button for?
    Great vid Aaron! :)

bluehandsvideo hey Mike. That original measurement from the spindle nose to table (offset gauge) should never change because it is always referenced from the Z Prox sensor when homed. You can use a spread sheet to work it all out for you. I will include this in the description link below ASAP. If I had height tool I would reference that in my tool library. The one I have wont fit my er25 collet. Hope this makes sense?

But....you always use the number for the spindle distance instead of setting it to zero...or more accurately, at 4" in your case? I set all my tools in G59.....that way I can set the spindle at 6" (edge tool height, plus a 2" block since the spindle nose won't go down to 4" off the table). That technically puts my spindle at zero on the table......same as how you're doing it. But....can you use zero for you spindle height....eliminating the math. In mach3, I can set my offset to 6" and it will do the math for me when I tell it to apply the tool offset. Hmmm......might one work for you if you can use your height setting tool. I have my Haimer as tool 1. Hmm...I have it straight in my head, but I'm a bit fuzzy right now, so it may not be coming across very clearly. Anyway......
Is the shaft of your height gauge too big, diameter wise to put in the ER25? You can make your self an adapter so that you can use it. :)

Hi Mike, yes you do it the way you're doing mate. Chris Atack suggested the exact same thing. I did it using Math hoping it would make for a better explanation. However, in hindsight it wasn't the smartest thing I've done. I think I've ended up confusing more people then I've helped. I will do another video to amend / compliment it highlighting using the controller as a DRO. Thanks for keeping me on my toes mate. Cheers, Aaron. PS, yeah my bloody height setter is to big in the diamond to fit. I ordered a 16mm from eBay which just turned up. Guess what, said approx 16mm did, but it measured out at 20mm. Muddah Farkers!

Argh! That's more than a bit frustrating when they don't list the dimensions correctly!!! 20mm is nowhere close to 16mm. What type are you using?
The only real difference between how I do it and you showed is that mach3 does the math for me. :) I brought up using the zero ref...as did Chris.....as an option to you having to use the math. There's plenty of ways to skin a cat. :)

Hi Aaron, I see that you were previously a Mach 3 user. Would it be possible for you to objectively compare both systems from a software stand point? With regards to features etc? I am yet to complete my own system build and have been eyeing off the Masso since its Kickstarter campaign, I'm considering purchasing the masso. Cheers, Rein

Hi Rein, can you contact me via email please. I won't list it here, but go to my "Channel" and select "About", scroll down to see my contact or business information and it will show you my email address. Thanks mate, Aaron.

I did mine a little bit differently, I came down and touched the spindle nose and zeroed out in the software then I put the tool in and brought it down to the same point on the dial indicator and just looked at what the reading was in the z dro in the software. that way no maths involved and you just put the next tool in and repeat.

Chris Atack Hey mate. Yes your method is much easier. I did it this way hopefully so it would make more sense to the novice. However and in hindsight your way using the mill (G92) as a digital readout would have been simpler. Thank you, I will bring this up in the next video mate and quote you if that's ok? Cheers bud, Aaron;-)

Hello Abram. I'm very sorry but I don't know how to help you. However, I found this link on google masso.com.au/docs/masso-cnc-controller-documentation/motors-and-drives-connections/teknic/
I no longer have my machine and I used my machine with closed loop stepper motors. Please contact Jatinder from Masso directly for more assistance. Regards, Aaron.
