you know, Jevhova's Witnesses aren't true followers of God. then again, neither is the strawman calling itself "God" that is this game's final boss, or the so-called "angels" working for it...
As someone who grew up going to a Christian congregational church, I've long known the story of a supreme and benevolent Creator loved His free-thinking creations so much that He made a human version of Himself and through him suffered painful mortality for their sake. He made Himself experience as limited an existence as such an unlimited being could possibly be, all in order to try and coexist with His creation in a way that made some semblance of any dang sense. He loved humanity THAT much. Rather than the literal story itself, that message of love has always been my primary takeaway, the idea that loving someone or something means becoming a part of their lives and vice versa, getting involved and putting their needs before your own comfort, and in so doing making the world that much better. To me, what matters isn't calling the goodness of reality by a certain name or insisting a certain backstory is canon. What matters is taking in reality, warts and all, and still deciding to keep on being a part of it and everyone else in it around us. That, to me, is the heart of the entity we refer to as "God". This version of YHVH is, therefore, not the same "God" by that nickname from that story (or rather, my interpretation of it) any more than this Dagda or that Krishna are the same beings as THEIR sources, and that's the whole point. It is, in-universe, an empty simulacrum of the famous nickname and seemingly-supreme power with NONE of the heart (he made everyone in the world fodder for a glorified game of friggin' Solitaire just to build up a fan club). And this is why it fell to their rejections so easily. Because it was only the branding and none of the substance. But the catch is, I admit, that even what I think of as "God" is itself just another interpretation of reality just like this thing claiming to be the real YHVH. And that's my other takeaway from this story; that I need to live with the possibility that I might be wrong, and accept it if that turns out to be proven.

I thought it was cool, the endings just didn't gel with the rest of the game's themes. The anarchy route is super well written, but it really is jarring to go from happy shounen apocalypse anime to killing all of your friends. Especially since Dagda's nihilism is incredibly unconvincing at that point. The bonds route doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, especially some of these rejections feel like non-sequiturs, but it fits a lot more in tone with the rest of the game.
@@thomaswood8405 I mean in what way were they non sequiturs? Pretty much all of them related to the experiences that seen throughout the game, especially Gaston.
@@dailydoseofvitaminc6565 Because so many of them make almost zero sense in context. Why is Asahi talking about like she's breaking away away from YHVH when she was never a part of his flock? Most of these characters weren't even aware of YHVH or his machinations until VERY recently. Gaston talks like YHVH is some sort of overbearing parent gone mad, but YHVH is a deliberately cruel god that uses an iron fist in order to fuel his own conception. Why did he bring up love at all? Hallelujah is a refutation of what YHVH is saying, but not what he is. What YHVH does is that he embodies the concept of a savior, and through that he gains a massive amount of power that he was able to reduce all other demons while propping himself up. Nozomi just talks. Nothing said that's wrong, but nothing that contradicts YHVH. "No other gods can emerge with YHVH reigning." Yeah Nozomi, that was literally his expressed game plan. Not exactly a hot take. Navarre is the only one that REALLY works as he was a minion raised by YHVH's cult. His refutation works because he directly defies something YHVH stands for. Naming YHVH an unclean one is an inversion of YHVH's truth. Toki works to a lesser extent, but the Ring of Gaea was always anti YHVH, believing in the concept of personal strength. It's thematically appropriate. Part of what's undermining it is her simping master schtick which kinda falls under YHVH's messiahnism umbrella. Only Gaston and Toki should have really affected YHVH, but that's not really enough. What should happen is YHVH comes back into reality because all the citizens of Tokyo and the Eastern Kingom of Mikado are still believing in Flynn and Nanashi as saviors, which should probably end up with Nanashi and Flynn suffering the same fate as Aleph; and endless cycle of reincarnation under cruel circumstances. The refutations work on the massacre route because it's soft implied that you're pretty much the last human on the planet. Nanshi denying YHVH works because Nanshi is the last remaining source YHVH can draw power from. Once Nanashi defeats him, he can supplant YHVH, but the same can't be said in the bonds route.
Matthew 5:3-7, 9-12 (KJV) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Im probably gonna start a shitstorm but these arent really great arguments. On toki's point for example, i dont know anyone who thinks God's forgiveness means you can do whatever you want as long as you tell God youre sorry. You have to actually repent. Gaston's argument is really more against the self righteousness of some but not all believers than anything. YHVH could pretty easily defend himself on some of these. But yeah its just a game.

I don't care what anyone says, i thought this game was great, at least anarchy route. Flawed, but still great. Just like nocturne.
I honestly really liked bonds too. Handled the idea of human connections being vital but not solely relied on better than other games I’ve played
@@thomaswood8405 Before even rewatching the video, first thing that pops out to me is that I that i think you confused Navarre’s refusal with Gaston’s

I think this game would be so much better if YHVH actually responded to the arguments they made.
@@christopherbravo1813 His arguments would have no strength and be baseless, because that is what they have been for thousands of years as people try to justify everything using mental gymnastics to explain away why the atrocities done by God and in his name are "ackshully" good things.
@@Entropic_Alloy again, people argue about "oh, God is evil" without giving any examples as to *why.* honestly, why do you argue about God's morality so much? if you don't believe that God exists, why bother trying to convince people that He is evil? if you do believe God exists, then what do you hope to accomplish by turning people against Him? @@christopherbravo1813 If God is All-Powerful, All-Knowing and Omni-Benevolent, Evil cannot exist. That has been the unchecked argument for over a millennium.
