    That bike looks fast just standing still! Shorter travel makes everything a little more spicy and exciting.

    I don't have a true XC bike, but one of my mid fat bikes has a 69 degree head angle and a longer stem. It is my bike of choice for some of the trails I ride due to the tight turns and switchbacks found on those trails. It's also by far my best peddler too.

      I love having different experiences with different bikes. It really changes your perspective on local trails and keeps things interesting.

    Thanks for the video and the inspiration! I've got a Diamondback Recoil 29er. What's a good upgrade for someone not trying to break records (or bones)?

      Thanks for watching! Good upgrade as in new bike? Oh man....there are so many great bikes out there. My Jeffsy is 150mm travel front and rear, and lately I've been thinking it's too much travel for SA. If you don't care about jumping/being the fastest that much, I would look for a well spec'd trail bike with 130-140mm of travel. It can handle a little bit of everything (except maybe aggressive downhill), but for what we have around here I think that's a great starting point.

    Hi- looking at getting this bike in Spring. Pretty set on this bike, and trying to zero in on size. LBS Owner/Pro kn owe I'm right at large or xl size, but want to make the right choice. I'm 6'1" 190 (old guy 60 but fit) What size were you riding and do you have recommendation?
    I'm a roadie but now going to do 1 good mob ride per week on a local trail to supplement riding and training.

      Hello there! Congrats on getting a new mtb. I rode the size large. I'm 6'0" with a 32" inseam. I would say ride both back to back and see which feels the most natural. You're right on the border of both sizes, so can be tough. If you also go to Scott's website, they have a "find your size" tool. It asks for your height, arm length, and leg length, then gives you the possible best frame size. I think a large bike will feel more playful and you'll sit "in" it more where the XL might provide you more efficient pedal strokes, but feel more like you're on top of the bike (if that makes any sense lol). I hope this information is helpful, and good luck with the bike! Let me know what you end up getting.

      Cobra Kyle thanks echos what shop said. Just realized they have a 920 a little more travel with dropper too that may even match my riding better. Size large coming up on fitter with 34 inseam thank you. Oddly enough heading to San Antonio in 2 weeks for Air Force graduation. Thanks

    I love my 170mm front and back YT Capra for most riding in San Antonio.. But when I want to go fast on easy trails I will ride my Cannandale Trail Six XC Hard.Tail.

    • @CobraKyle
      @CobraKyle  4 роки тому

      I pretty much only ride my hardtail around San Antonio lately. I use the Jeffsy for Spider Mountain and scarier places.

    You were flying on that bike, maybe you were the one who killed that deer on the trail! You could step on BKXC's toes here with a new channel: CKXC!

      LOL I thought of using CKXC when I did the race. I was going to reach out to Brian to film a joke, but never did. I think I've had enough of XC for now. Spider Mountain very soon.

    Is it worth XC racing???

    • @CobraKyle
      @CobraKyle  4 роки тому +1

      I would say yes. I'm not an XC racer (tried it out once), but this bike was far faster than anything I ride. I like to think I know a lot about trail and enduro bikes, but I've never really researched XC bikes a ton, so can't say if this bike is better than any others. I had a really great time riding it, and it felt incredibly quick.
