In Feb of 1977 I was riding my bike and looked across the quarry in Thornton, right as the sun was going down, the sky was bright orange! It was the horse track on fire! The entire race track burned throughout the night until pretty much nothing was left. The site of that horse track is right here!
Wow man your goated🐐. I really miss this Walmart I basically lived there shopping for all my needs. That Walmart felt different unlike the other Walmarts stores that just felt boring and modernized. This Walmart will always be a special place in my heart. Thank you for your service 🫡😢
How ironic this use to be a Kmart then Walmart moved in and closed Kmart now this Walmart is closing. You know things are bad when Walmart is starting to close stores. Enjoyed the tour and felt the Super Kmart vibes for sure.
It's still sad this Walmart had to close. Although I don't usually go to that Walmart very much, it's just sad to see it's now gone. Also, it took me some time to make the connections that it was once a Super Kmart originally when I looked at an older image on Google Maps Street View. But yeah, farewell to this Walmart.
This used to be crazy enough a superkmart it closed in 2013 it was one of the last superkmarts in Illinois to close that surprisingly managed to survive the 2002-2003 bankruptcy. But in the 90s before that the location was on the other side of town and you forgot to mention This was a former Superkmart and replaced a old Kmart in town.
Can you please do the closing Walmart in Pinellas Park it’s a neighborhood market with old-school letters it only has four days left before closing forever
By the way nice footage.. most people that covered this store for the last time don’t know how to film properly so thanks for not making me dizzy like the rest… smooth steady slow camera angles!
The old Kmart Stores and Super Kmart Center Stores have been taken over by Kroger Marketplace Stores,Meijer Superstores and U-HAUL STORAGE AND TRUCK RENTAL CENTERS. These old Super Kmart Center Stores were located in the Detroit and Southeastern Michigan area. And Wal-Mart has taken over an old Super Kmart Center Store in Sterling Heights. And to this very day and Wal-Mart is still open for business.
Alright guys let’s go to the one in Elgin il because it’s bigger and wider and they never torn there aisles apart and who can make a Elgin il Walmart video about there history of building at old and new location.
I used to shop at the superKmart. It had lots of crime and theft also. I’m sure it’s way worse now at Walmart. I’ve never been there and would rather shop Meijer. Too much insanity at Walmart. Thanks for the nice video tour of the store. Wonder what will go there next.
It's very unfortunate. This community does still have a Target and a jewel but losing a Walmart is pretty bad I would think. Walmart could have prevented this by getting rid of self checkouts maybe at certain locations. At this location look to the north and look to the South and you will see why that this location probably had a theft problem.
Walmart let that store go to hell. The aisles were torn apart a year before that store went under. I have no tolerance for the 'Shoplifting' innuendos making them look like the victim here because other retailers on Halsted continue to do well. And Walmart was given a huge tax break which the village rightly rescinded. The large casino is opening up soon and it could have made Walmart a huge profit. And the gas station was always busy too

Interesting. Thanks for the info.

I remember the kmart before this and the old walmart which was replaced by this one

I don't live down there I'm sorry I'm from Illinois
Walmart used to be a few miles south of there in Glenwood, non super-center. That store closed when this store was built.

Can you do a abandoned Tuesday Morning at Northpoint in Arlington Heights, Illinois?
It's very unfortunate that this Walmart is closing. I hope and pray that the one in Richton Park doesn't close.
That's incredible!!! This Walmart has only been open for around 7 years. WTF!!!

Maybe in the next Walmart that’s gonna be closing is Altoona Iowa because that store is always a mess and it’s not safe.
Illinois is slowly dying. It'll be nice to finally get away from here (I'm moving in 2024)
I’m in will county so I usually go to Schererville Indiana Walmart or sometimes Bourbonnais Illinois Walmart
Small towns in Iow now have more Walmarts than Chicago.
This used to be a Super Kmart.
No food no meat or anything must be close soon
Wow another one!!
You should try Aurelios Pizza in Homewood whenever your in the area. They got really good pizza!
I think we have some of those in our area as well up here. I think I've had them once but it was a while back they are very good
Since Both Kmart and Walmart failed for this location, look's like Meijer might be it's last chance...
When your filthy Rich billionaires i guess it's nothing to close down stores whenever you feel like it 🤦🏽♂️

Is this former Kmart closing again?
