Hi John, Changing the "aggressiveness" is the main reason for the adjustable razor. But doing it with 2 or even 3 differents razors is a really good idea. Thank you for sharring. Wish you well.
Happy Memorial Day weekend John! Great video with excellent informational content. Your mix and match idea is sound and is tantamount to an adjustable. The late 1950's Gillette Super Speeds would be super candidates to employ in this manner. Enjoy the graduation! Take care.
Good thoughts on mixing and matching razors there John. Normally when I use my adjustables I start with a more aggressive setting for my first pass like a 7 or higher on my Gillettes then I dial it back to a 4 or 5 for the cross grain and go super mild with a 3 or sometimes a 2 for the ATG with an Astra blade usually. results in 0 irritation and a comfy shave. This method would also work if I didn't have adjustables
Thank you for a great video, I usually use a couple of razors to complete a shave and this because I usually test a new razor. I'll try your suggestion tonight with the Rockwell on 6 first pass and plate 4 on second and touch-ups.
I've done it and you are right and it works. I used the Merkur progress on 6 for the initial pass, then on 4 and touch up on 2. It was a BBs shave with no irritation although I have to say the progress is not among my faves.
Thanks for the titbits! I have previously tried a variation of the method shown in this video but I am going to try the sort of "inverse" technique as explained. And congratulations on your God daughter’s graduation. I hope you have an enjoyable celebration.
Personally, I like a 'loud" shave like the one you got with the razor you used for your first pass. Even your second razor gave a decent "loud" shave, IMO. Your third razor was still louder than my Feather..... I love Feather AS-D2 Razor and Feather Blades. While they do give me a smooth shave in two passes, they are too quiet for me.
its all down to the oil you use in your engine ... - engine razor - oil blade ... everything else is purely to preference . - thanks . - then again , just use an adjustable ?????
No you’re not on Utube anymore but just reviewing some old videos
You were the best love your work

You remind me of Herman Munster. 😁✌️
Did you try the tech head with a heavier handle?
