You are the kind of teacher I wish I had in elementary school, jr. high, high school and college. Have never seen this level of presentation anywhere on you tube to date. Thank you. Wish you had more explanation about the controller and the 4 pin connector at the fuse panel at the driver side footwell. I am lost there.
I haven't installed that personally. If you take off the fuse access panel that is left of the steering wheel, you will see at the far bottom of the fuse panel a 4-pin female connector. It is taped to the fuse box connector harness. You will need to plug the provided adapter into that connector. There are 4 wires that need to connect to your electronic brake controller. The installation manual shows how to do this on page 14 - 15. I posted the PDF of the manual at www.palisadeforum.com/threads/2023-hyundai-trailer-wiring-harness-install.6958/page-3#post-69998
Thank for a great video. It gave me the confidence to order the OEM harness after U-Haul incorrectly installed a 4 pin set-up after I requested a 7-pin. I had to have them remove their harness. Their removal of their harness resulted in 2 error codes, significant time and money spent at the dealership as they diagnosed 2 expensive electronic parts as damaged by a voltage spike. Those modules have been replaced and I have no more error codes. However I still have this problem: I purchased my 2024 Palisade Caligraphy to function as a tow vehicle for our Mastercraft trailer and boat. The trailer has a surge brake that is de-activated when the tow vehicle sends a signal to the white (back-up) lights on the trailer. I have installed an Hyundai OEM tow wiring harness. When I apply a 7 pin test light it is properly illuminated in forward and reverse. My boat trailer can be towed and backed up by other vehicles I have access to. However, when I put the Palisade in reverse, the back-up lights flash on, and the go off in about 1-2 seconds. So if I need to back up the boat and there is the slightest bit of rolling resistance, the pressure on the trailer hitch fires the trailer brakes and locks up the wheels. This has been super frustrating and has curtailed our ease of using our boat this summer. Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution? This occurs even with the cross-traffic safety feature disable. It is as if the car cannot handle the small electrical load of the back-up lights, as if there is a safety circuit that is tripped that disables the flow of current. Do you have any advice as to how to further trouble-shoot this problem? Or do I have to take both my car and my boat to the dealership to have them find out if this is a Hyundai design flaw?
I have heard issues regarding the safety systems activating while backing a trailer and is a problem for some. This may be an issue. I think you need to disable the backup sensors because it thinks it is backing into the trailer and applies the brakes. Unfortunately, there may still be electrical issues because of the U-Haul installation. There are 3 fuses under the hood for the trailer, 1 under the drivers dash and 2 with the trailering harness. If one is blown, then it might cause this reaction. I know the Hyundai wiring harness comes with a brake controller connection as well. This is located under the fuse panel on the driver's side. A brake controller connected to this might also allow backing up.
The other issue is that the OEM wiring harness utilizes the CAN bus system (connected directly to the ECU/BCU of the vehicle) and the U-Haul harness splices into the light wiring. Splicing into existing wiring can create a different OHM reading and create issues.
my problem has been solved! I followed your advice to check on the fuses under the hood. All three fuses were absent.!!There were two 15 amp micro2, fuses and one 30 amp mini maxi low profile fuse. Once I purchased and placed these fuses in place the back-up lights on the trailer remained lit and the surge break was disabled so I could back up against resistance without firing the trailer breaks. it is as if the car was sold to me without those fuses in place. I will be taking this up with my local dealership.

Excellent video, Darren. Thanks for taking the time to do this. You've convinced me that I can tackle the hitch and wiring installation on my own and save myself $600+ that my Hyundai dealer quoted for the hitch alone. Crazy, I know. I purchased the OEM hitch (S8F61 AU300) and wiring harness (S8F67 AC700) from Hyundai and have been reviewing the installation manuals. Both documents say that the wiring harness should be installed first. However, on page 4 of the wiring manual (before the harness has been installed), it says to install the hitch. Huh? Anyway, I see that your Curt hitch was installed before the wiring harness and I plan to do the OEM hitch first, too. Do you see a reason why this couldn't/shouldn't be done?

Mine is a 7-pin wiring harness. See the description box for the part list that I installed. The Hyundai wiring harness does have a 4-pin connector for a brake controller that is installed by the driver's side fuse box. I have not installed a brake controller at this time. I'm getting ready to have the exact same harness and hitch installed. I also purchased the same EZ Mount bracket. Let me know if you find a sturdier one somewhere (hopefully soon). I like the clean look of the hitch cover...you bought that separate?
I wanted a receiver cover so that I could minimize the debris that can settle in it while not in use. The Curt one was included in the receiver I got. I was also looking on eBay for a Hyundai-branded one and I would have gotten that if it wasn't already included with my receiver.
The wiring in this video is complete. No additional power is required. The harness receives its power through the CANbus system. That is why there are fuses on the wiring harnesses.
Can you do me a quick favor. I am looking for the folding rear view mirrors for the 23 palisade. I need to know where to order them. They just don’t sell them in the USA. How did you contact corporate and do you have the number or do you have the Canadian number. Thank you for your time.
I'm sorry, but I live in the US and did homework on the trailering wiring harness. I would call Hyundai 1-800 number. There are models in Canada and Middle East that do have it, but because of blind spot it's not available in US.
I would have, but Hyundai didn't offer a factory hitch for 2023. It is now available, but at the time there was no hitch. I would use the factory hitch that sits higher today.

The wiring in this video is complete. No additional power is required. The harness receives its power through the CANbus system. That is why there are fuses on the wiring harnesses.
Will the palisade wiring harness fit the 2023 KIA Telluride?
I really don't know, but the installations should be the same.
What brand and make brake controller did you use?
At this point, I have not attached a brake controller. My trailer isn't that heavy.
So if I watched correctly…
Nothing is spliced in,
all wiring is plug and play correct?
That is correct if you purchase the OEM wiring harness. US Part # S8F67 AC700 and Canadian Part # S8F67 AC800. Same part different part numbers.
Would it work on my 2004 hyundai elantra? I want a 7 pin for it.
It is Palisade specific

I know yours is a 2023, but will that harness kit work on a 2024?
I think it will.
Thank you. Yes it worked!! Now I’m trying to find the plug under the dash for the brake controller connector. Any idea on where it is?
Why not buy with a factory installed hitch.

I would have, but Hyundai didn't offer a factory hitch for 2023. It is now available, but at the time there was no hitch. I would use the factory hitch that sits higher today.
Thank you so much a great video. We just got our Palisade Calligraphy a couple of weeks ago. I will get the parts ordered.
