Clonking from the Universal joint on the propshaft, am I missing something ? FWD Mr FD 😂😊 I owned a 03 plate Rover 75 1.8 exactly the same spec and colour as yours (Non Turbo though) Wish I never sold it 😢 It was a beautiful comfortable car, I love the way the doors shut with a quality thud. The car went to live in Spain with it's new owner.

From the video the car is filthy underneath, you need to get the Rover up on a ramp, thoroughly wash the whole of the underside, wheel arches having removed the wheel arch liners, THEN apply any form of rust protection.

My neighbor bought a new Rover 75 when the model was released, and I liked everything about it. I was shocked when BMW killed it. The undercarriage of this Rover seems to be in good shape with a minimum of rust, which is great for a car of this vintage.

When the 75 was released, the press wondered why you couldn't find them in the UK. It was because they all seemed to be in Munich! I went to visit a friend at the end of 1999 and the number of 75s on the road there was amazing - the Bavarians really took them to their heart.

Well done and glad it was an easy fix. Just replaced the front lower wishbones on my 90,000 mile MK6/7 fester. At low speeds on potholed roads esp turning into side roads it sounded like a loose exhaust clunking at the rear. Eventually tracked it down to 2 or 3mm movement in a front suspension balljoint... amazing how sounds echo around the body shell.

Generally I've found the following is normally right for diagnostics on rover 75:
'Clunk' when braking lower rear wish bone.
'Rattle' over pot holes drop links or balljoint.
    'Moooooo' is wheel bearings.
    'Clang clang' is exhaust hangers
'rattle' from the trim is engine mounts
'Crunch bang bang' is upper rear arms.
'Tick tick tick' from the back is dead handbrake shoes.
'Whhhhhhhooooop' your fan is gone making the air con over heat
'twang pshhhhhhh' you've bust a front spring.
'dagdagdagdag' your boot stops need adjusting

Ooh, i need to get the 9-5 Aero up on a ramp pronto because I’m having the same issue. I was thinking subframe bushes etc. I did think about the exhaust but I can’t see any missing hangers either. I’m going to have another look, because a full set of rear subframe bushes for a 9-5 come in at between £150 and £200 , plus labour because I’m neither equipped or confident enough to attempt the job myself. Also there are a lot of them in the full set - around ten apparently. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Regarding the intermittent cutting-out: my BMW E60 started doing this before finally coming to a stop. It seems (according to the garage that is looking at it) that the box with the ECU has got waterlogged at some point, corroding the ECU connections. If the 75 takes a similar approach to housing the ECU, I'd check that out.

Nothing more annoying than a rattle or clunk that can't be identified, had a new Cortina estate that had a rattle that appeared to be coming from behind the dashboard but no one could find the cause of it. Wasn't until she was two years old was it found, an enamelled mug in the heater air intake still with dried tea stains and the owners initials. It had finally moved so was visible through the intake grill. A scratching of heads as to how it got there and over the cost of it being removed, Ford didn't want to do anything and denied all liability, I didn't think the line workers could drink tea on the line. The heater and vents worked better after, it actually blew a gale.

Re pricing cars, as i have said before i have a Honda Civic 1.6 SE Executive with all leather interior and 58k on Clock. Phoned up "you buy any car "Blah Blah and got a valuation off of them. £530 if the car is mint. ?? needless to say they wont be getting it. Another thing is this ULEZ crap which basically makes any car over 1600 cc a liability. All this stuff affects the price of your car.. I sincerely hope you get the cash you are looking for . Later😊

I'd love to import that Rover to Canada, but it would be a rust bucket in a matter of months. I just don't trust our roads.
