Scottie Scheffler arrested, released before PGA Championship Round 2 | Dan Patrick Show | NBC Sports
/ nbcsports - Спорт
The fact that he was booked and released in record time. Shows the cops and DA know they screwed up bad. Most people would be lucky to post bail after days in jail after an assaulting an officer charge
is golf really a sport?
No, he was released because of who he is. He still broke the law.
sorry this case is over the cop is in the wrong
@@bobl703 because he is white
Luke Bryan...
"Attached" himself to the vehicle? You mean the crazy cop jumped on his car.
it means if he was black they would have Swiss cheesed that car. Privilege. “Attached himself to the car” means dragged the cop.
@@kinglexicon3924Shut up
He should be fired
@Rocky80537you sound like you missed the klan meeting.
Jumping on moving vehicles, great idea, folks 😅
Welcome to Louisville where we have some of to poorest excuses for policing in the country and its been that way all 30 years of my life. ive seen them drinking in marked cars tossing out beer cans right before speeding off to a call. devil works here.
U seen that so much why didn't u record
Must have come straight out of BLM University
Double standard for black folks
Back the blue
Remember?
Hilarious!
They should fire these mall cops.
At least Scottie didn't have to carry his clubs
That's all the FOP hires.
Can they put any more junk on their desk?
The fire marshal will not like this.
chandler?
As an OCD sufferer and a minimalist, that desk makes me break out in hives.
I was just thinking the same thing lol
Condolences to the family who lost their loved one.
Scotty will be fine. World no. 1 player will do his thing regardless
This is the only comment that recognizes that someone DIED.
Amen 🙏
That criminal going to jail!!
@Rocky80537uhhh yeah it is? It’s why the road was shut down.
The point you’re missing is that it’s Alleged charges at the cops discretion. The cop deciding to jump on the car in this scenario doesn’t sound like assault to me.
This is how easy it is to get a felony charge. With idiot robot cops it will never change. 😮
And getting it removed will be a process. It's like a tick. Easy to get on you, had to get off.
Well, if he hadn't broken the law, he wouldn't get a felony charge.
Scotties messed up. He has a temper if he assaulted the officer, second degree. He is felon now. Let's see the body cam if it actually shows Scottie assaulting an officer someway, somehow
@@chriskramp5174he's not a felon now 🙄😂
@@Nite2012Mare he got charged assaulting an officer second degree! That's a felony charge. It's just facts, sorry
Who else wants to see him play in the orange jumpsuit? Would be epic.
😂😂
Retired police. Police officers are NEVER trained to attach themselves to a car. Ahhhh - that is a rather ignorant move on the part of the officer. What an oddity situation. Scotty Scheffler is not a criminal. Scheffler did not assault a police officer. The officer assaulted a moving car.
You should not just go by reports, video is paramount.
Nonsense. He dragged the cop with his car. Anyone else would have been Swiss cheese.

Scott the Thug 😅😅😅
Very good reporting. You nailed it. He makes birdie on the first hole and the crowd is going nuts.
This is all going to turn into a huge misunderstanding with all charges dropped. I’m betting by the end of the day.
Probably right but only because it's scottie. Anyone else has a court date and then a plea deal
.Don't you just love this justice system 😂😂😂😂😂
I’ll take that bet
@Rocky80537 That is exactly what is going to happen..pay $1000 fine and some sort of worthless deferral program.
I think theyve already been dropped
Yep, the PGA brings a lot of money to that city.
Kentucky is not adept to handle such sporting events, including the Derby.
AGREED
Were they supposed to let him drive through?
It was an accident scene.
@@SmartDave60 no it wasn't
@@wgsmit02 then what was Scott driving around?
Ridiculous how cops just pile on charges at will, whenever they decide they want to punish someone excessively. Maybe he should have stopped and at most would be a misdemeanor.
Anyone black can’t tell you countless stories of this. Bro nearly dragged a cop. They rephrased it as “cop became attached” to the vehicle. He dragged the cop. But he’s white, so he didn’t get popped.
Black folks have said this for decades. 🤷🏾♂️
Made up charges. Usually cops do this to arrest a suspected criminal so they can interrogate him. In this case its to save face. Court would dismissed if not all, most of bs charges
He did. He pulled his window down. Slowed down and said who he was. Then the cop decided he was special forces. Jumped on the car trying to break the window. Pulled him out and arrested him
They pile on the charges hoping that one or two will stick. It makes complete logical sense. If you charge someone with just one or two offenses, the DA might drop both charges, or plea them down. So then it's a complete waste of time and resources for the cops to stop that criminal. So the cops charge the suspect with all of the laws that they broke and hope at least a couple of them will actually be charged and prosecuted.
Kentucky’s finest! Sure everywhere else on earth he would have been allowed to go in and do his job. Way to go Kentucky. Other words the security is smarter and more informed than Kentucky’s finest. You must be proud.
They should cite the cop for stupidity in jumping on his car.
Street cred Scottie 😂
It doesn't matter who he is....follow the rules, stop and follow the instructions. Everybody making excuses for this guy.
Some people just want a police state
Talk about overcharging. Wow.
That's what happens when they screw up.
The cop cars and the rain slicker were not marked as police and players go around security every time. This was a complete misunderstanding that was solely escalated by the police. Under what police training is jumping on a vehicle considered correct action? The copes realized they screwed up, so they dump charges on him. He will be cleared of this but will likely have to pleaded guilty to some misdemeanor and pay some small fine because the cops won’t admit they are in the wrong. The press needs to stress they weren’t marked.
Kentucky can't stop Kentucky-ing.
The most danger you can be in is when interacting with police. period. Forget this at your own risk. Good luck Scottie !
Scott the Thug 😅😅😅
Don't do the crime if you are worried about interacting with the police. Period.

@Rocky80537 👮♀💩
What a stupid take lmao😂
Sounds like another ego-driven cop who can’t be reasonable.
It also sounds like scheffler committed attempted manslaughter by trying to run over a police officer. Sheffler is not entitled to run people over in his car.
100%
Now imagine how people who do not look like Scottie Scheffler feel. Who don't have his social clout.
It’s crazy how being a cop is a profession/job where you can’t make any mistakes. Yet they make so many mistakes and still have their jobs.
They are humans but still. Insanity.
They have strong unions. And also a large part of the civilian population idolizes them and feel they can do no wrong, so that helps too.
What about the people who try to predict the future and tell us the weather? They're wrong every day but still have their jobs. Same thing with politicians.
I have a better idea. Don't try and drive through an accident scene after you've been told to stop.
That cops treated him like they would have anybody else. Is that wrong ? A person was killed in an accident and he was driving around it while being told to stop.
@@BAMyankees614 I agree with politicians also. But weathermen/weatherwoman is totally different.
Sounds like some flat out lying on the police report, assault, dragging cop down the road? The only thing assaulted was the cop's ego.
This is the thing i don't understand about police charges.... Assaulting a police officer. The cop attached himself the the car himself. He didn't have to jump on the car and hang on.... They could have stopped him other ways. Its not a fleeing felon.
Hole #1 at Valhalla has a unique jail hazard.
😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂
Should he use the wedge and punch out or go for the green??? Gonna be tough in that baggy jumpsuit they were so quick to get him into
There’s a good chance that he did not attack the police officer who pushed him, but was charged with assault by a cop pouting about not getting enough respect.
he didnt attack any cop. He is charged with assault because the cop grabbed his vehicle and got dragged.
So it was entirely the cop's actions that caused it, and he is being charged with assault.
Sure he is probably guilty of minor charges like not following the police orders, but definitely not assault of a police officer.
They'll give anyone a badge.
This is complete crap. He was probably having a hard time following POLICE ORDERS because they were probably yelling at him in MONOTONE! Now he's gotta play the whole second round with THIS hanging over head! I would be LIVID!
No he was probably not following orders because he thinks he is special and above the law!
@@adamcalhoun6683 OK, maybe he's a bit ENTITLED, but these police basically YELL @ YOU in freaking MONOTONE, and think you can understand what they're saying. Totally stupid they put him in a jumpsuit. The cop should not have jumped on a car .
Huge misunderstanding. Wanna see police cam .
Even if the guy was NOT a cop but just a traffic director, I say ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION. Stop, obey the commands, and if there is a misunderstanding, calmly settle it. But do not just drive away when told to stop. That is arrogance, I’m sorry.
Video proves you wrong......he was going 12mph on the side of road in a MARKED PGA vehicle......the cop had a powertrip
It does not matter what “trip” the cop was on. If an officer says “stop”, you STOP, no matter who you are. He drove away after being told to stop. (And "power trip" is TWO words, not one.)

La Bohéme, and to which Scottie replied - it's an opera.
If I was chef I would leave the event. I wouldn’t play for the city. The idea that the police chief didn’t know is absurd. To put a mug shot on him Is outrageous
You cant tell me they didn't know this was Scottie Scheffler!!! Im sure he had ID!!! Ridiculous!!
People don't watch golf like that. It's like arresting an F1 driver in Texas or Florida, here for a race. I'm willing to bet most cops won't know who they are.
This officer better be fired by the end of the day
They do not get fired when behaving this way with ordinary citizens going about their lawful business.

Typical over reaction of police sheeeeesh
Hope that cop liked his job… he’ll be on a desk answering phones the rest of his career.
It’s a big misunderstanding by Scotty - nothing here folks
Big mistake by Louisville Cops........fixed it for you
@Rocky80537 Why is it both? Witnesses and Scottie are stating that the cops told him to drive around. It was just that this one cop didn't follow along and took it out on Scottie.
The cops told him to do exactly what he did. In any other situation that would be entrapment. The cops told you to do something and then another cop immediately assaults you for doing that thing. This reminds me of the cop who told a driver to get his wallet out of his pocket at a gas station and when he reached for it another cop standing right there shot him for reaching into his pocket.
Scott the Thug 😅😅😅
@Rocky80537 No....arresting cop had no clue the other officers told him continue......the arresting cop wasn't even part of the PGA detail and didn't know players and media were allowed through
This is great for golf ratings.
All tee times were pushed back because of weather delay
No, they were delayed because a shuttle struck and killed a pedestrian. That was the cause of the traffic stop too
EGO TRIP in a yellow vest, sick
I ve been to several foreign countries. Including 3 rd world. I hate ti admit it but in those countries the police treat their citizens with more respect. There was a policeman just standing around talking talking to people like they were family. I interupted to ask for directions and he actually drew a map on a sheet of paper and happily gave it to me. Then he went back to talking to the locals.
If Scottie can make the cut after all this, then kudos to him. We know he is mentally tough and stoic but even this would be very hard to compartmentalise. I am rooting for him.
Let me guess. The cop was assaulted by the car.
The weather delay was caused by the accident early in the morning due to the incredible traffic around the course so players and fans were having a hard time entering the course. While there is a rule for ‘exceptional circumstances’ of missing tee times this was not used since his - and everyone else’s - tee times were all moved by an hour and 20 mins due to the delay.
Cop boy got his 15 minutes of fame.
That dumbo cop is at fault! He chose to endangered his own life.
Cop might of thought he was fleeing a fatal hit and run. He was doing his Job. Scot should of stopped and waited for clearance . not drive off with anyone attached to his car.
@@matzrat5006 the accident happened way earlier, genius

Scheffler : Don't You Know Who I Am ?? Cops : Nope.
Love the way the subs refer to his "TEA TIME".
As a former Law Enforcement officer, recognizing that 99% of the commenters AREN’T, going around cones or traffic accidents / stops is actually VERY DANGEROUS to first responders. But no, please suspend all rules for athletes, entertainers, and the wealthy.
THEY had told the golfers that they would be allowed to enter. These aren't football players, they are golfers. We all know that cops are doing a tough job but we also know that many of them get power hungry and turn into AHoles.
As a current first responder it’s totally out of the ordinary for cops to block the road and direct traffic at major golf events and totally out of the question that cops and security staff are told to let the players and media pass all blocks to get to the course early so this was DEFINITELY not a misunderstanding by an ill prepared cop (emotionally and informationally) who acted irrationally (jumping on a moving vehicle) as a former LEO you 1000% know that’s more than likely what happened but sure frame it as tho he was attempting to run a Road block to kill people at 5mph and the cop was totally acting within his rights 😂
Good chance he didn't know there was an accident though. It was a pedestrian hit so no wreckage would be visible, and he probably thought it was a weirdly crowded entrance stoppage. Plus it's dark and raining.
...but grabbing the hood of a car like some jackass Rambo re-enactment is VERY SAFE for first responders? What a load of crap.
I think it's safe to say the charges will be dropped there was a lot of confusion any sensible judge will understand the situation if there are any sensible judges left in this country
The stupid cop didn't think that the rich and ALL his bosses, along with Judges are not only fans but will be there for that tourney. That cop has ZERO friends left in that state. If I'm good Chief, I'd be furious to be woke up to this stupidity. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
In terms of that police officer, how incompetent do you want to be?
Sky’s the limit for these costumed clowns!
So he basically disobeyed someone who looked like a regular security guard but it was a police officer. Lesson learned I bet!
It's spelled - overzealous.
And he was released quick enough to compete? He assaulted an officer with his car. Hold him for a hearing.
The PGA let this man play even though he got arrested, if I was arrested and my Job knew I would be suspended.
I had a Deputy wave me around a truck wreck then call the city cops to chase me down. City cop said he was told I disregarded the deputy's direction and drove around him and the wreck. I told the city cop he waved me around. City cop was at least upstanding enough to say he wasn't there so he couldn't do anything. This was in Spearman, TX. I was driving an old Mercedes but any Mercedes screams rich to lots of lowlifes.
Look, idk what happened, it seems like there were massive mistakes made ALL around. But what I DO know, is that if anyone of us watching this video had those charges placed on us, we would NOT be walking free right now. These charges are either going to:
a) Be dropped within the next couple of days
or
b) This continues to show that society is not made for normal people like us.
I prefer it's the former. Mistakes happen and it seems like everyone made a mistake here and that should be how this ends.
Nonsense. White privilege has occurred in front of everyone and the talking is about everything but privileged Americans.
You will be walking out on bail or even without posting one.
@@Kilgore_Trout_jr welp, the charges were dropped like I mentioned. White privilege did NOT occur here, but corrupt police behavior certainly poked its ugly head.

So that is the only entrance to the golf course and Scheffler arrives . He's driving a marked PGA vehicle.
Vegas really does not want Scotty to win this week.
He could miss the next 8 events and still be ranked 1 in the world. What a world. Ha
The reporter stated Scotty thought it was a security officer and not a police officer he never said he didn’t hear them asking him to stop and he continued to drive after the officer jumped on the car
Exactly. There is no room for honest mistakes anymore. Everything is escalated to a crime. Younger people making minor bad decisions are thrust into a lifetime cycle in many cases .
Would the PD yellow jackets having clearly visible police insignia, versus obscuring their regular uniform, not have prevented this whole incident? Might be something for the PD to address. Seems understandable he thought he dismissed directions of tournament officials, not potentially arresting authorities.
Imagine getting run over by a shuttle and dying... And this is the story... Nobody asked who died? Ffs
Were the 50 cops that were there going to bring the dead guy back to life? Or does it take 50 cops to figure out that being hit by a bus can be fatal.
Do they automatically know the details? Or is this the proper response for a fatality? Let them do their jobs, recognize there aren't 50 emergency cars there for traffic and donuts, and don't drive with a guy that is on your vehicle. There is a poor person and his family that will never be the same, but Scottie and all the fans will forget by the next round.
I was there yesterday.. just fyi there were probably 50 cops lined along the whole road that leads into entrance of Valhalla. Traffic is a disaster for the volume of fans in attendance. It’s an unfortunate event but I think the LMPD officer who arrested him was caught up in the emotional event of seeing someone die and made a rash decision. Yesterday was such a great vibe in Louisville, no drink a-holes, drama or anything at all that I saw. Sucks to wake up to this today
@@JayJay-jx3zg so you're the only person with a consciousness? gtfoh
@@tannerlock2 It's all very unfortunate, especially for the family who lost someone. I would add to that the volume of other emergency vehicles, like EMS. I would image, just visually you would be able to tell that something happened. Their interior lights were on, but the vehicles were unmarked. Likely looked like civilian event security.
It looks like the police were in unmarked vehicles as well.
Doesn't matter. Scotty still tried to go around other vehicles which is against the rules. Then the cops identified themselves and Scotty didn't care and broke the law by not following their orders. Then a stupid cop attached himself to the car and Scotty kept driving, which again is breaking the law. Scotty put himself in this situation.
In an update to this story. Scotty was instructed by another officer to pull around the bus that did not have a driver so he could enter the club. It’s a huge misunderstanding on all involved.
What a weird situation. Uh…the cop is got to be questioned for going over the top here! Valhalla should figure out a way to make traffic control better. Wrecks, a fatality, this incident?? Gotta be a better way. Scottie is a new dad and a great example of faith and living pure. Should have never happened - or at least gone this far!!
Obviously poor communication by Scotty. Cops acting foolishly and not understanding how to handle it was for sure. Although you need to communicate before driving wherever you want also
