From DreamWorks Animation comes a new adaptation of a literary sensation, Peter Brown’s beloved, award-winning, #1 New York Times bestseller, The Wild Robot.
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot-ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short - that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
The Wild Robot stars Academy Award® winner Lupita Nyong’o (Us, The Black Panther franchise) as robot Roz; Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) as fox Fink; Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek, Best in Show) as opossum Pinktail; Oscar® nominee Bill Nighy (Living, Love Actually) as goose Longneck; Kit Connor (Heartstopper, Rocketman) as gosling Brightbill and Oscar® nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once, this summer’s The Fall Guy) as Vontra, a robot that will intersect with Roz’s life on the island.
The film also features the voice talents of Emmy winning pop-culture icon Mark Hamill (Star Wars franchise, The Boy and the Heron), Matt Berry (What We Do in the Shadows, The SpongeBob Movie franchise) and Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible films, Pulp Fiction).
A powerful story about the discovery of self, a thrilling examination of the bridge between technology and nature and a moving exploration of what it means to be alive and connected to all living things, The Wild Robot is written and directed by three-time Oscar® nominee Chris Sanders-the writer-director of DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon, The Croods, and Disney’s Lilo & Stitch-and is produced by Jeff Hermann (DreamWorks Animation’s The Boss Baby 2: Family Business; co-producer, Kung Fu Panda franchise).
Peter Brown’s The Wild Robot, an illustrated middle-grade novel first published in 2016, became a phenomenon, rocketing to #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The book has since inspired a trilogy that now includes The Wild Robot Escapes and The Wild Robot Protects. Brown’s work on the Wild Robot series and his other bestselling books have earned him a Caldecott Honor, a Horn Book Award, two E.B. White Awards, two E.B. White Honors, a Children’s Choice Award for Illustrator of the Year, two Irma Black Honors, a Golden Kite Award and a New York Times Best Illustrated Book Award.
Ok, the fox drop kicking the baby into the water was hilarious.
Yeah it was funny. I little mean but funny. Fun fact Fink The fox is being voiced by Pedro Pascal. The guy who plays Din Djarin in Star Wars The Mandalorian. That guy can do anything. And I’m glad that he is still on the role of raising a child. Even if he’s not the father.
punted
dropkicking is WILDLY different
the robot was SHOCKED
Thats how they teach filipinos to swim....😂
@@sapphirewingthefurrycritic985 TRUE😂
I actually love how monotone Roz's voice is at the start but it will probably sound more and more natural as the movie progresses and that it just the chef's kiss on this will-be masterpiece
see that’s why i don’t know why people are upset that they HAVE voices. the details like that are important in humanizing the robot and the animals, and adds more to the story overall. also, this seems like a movie meant for kids too and they aren’t going to be able to understand a silent film (aside from chirping and screaming)
That's literally all in your head. I would love if they did that, but they very clearly didn't. You just watched them show how much they DIDN"T do that. I don't think you even know what monotone means.
@@coneyislandqueen476 it was a book and the robot learned how to talk to animals by studying them in the books
I know I’m going to cry when I see this movie, of both happiness and sadness
I almost cried watching the trailer dude. I'm very emotional
i definitelly cried reading the books, so i wouldnt expect less
something weird, i think it would be more charming if no one talked, just a few beeps and boops, but it still looks good
I definitely understand the appeal and I would love a movie like that, but trying to market that kind of film to big execs is unfortunately not going to get you too far unless it’s incredibly good. Big studios do love to flex their celebrity voice cast.
@@jaydenrush3919this film was originally a book, the animals and stuff did talk in the book
@rudstar64 thank you, I was aware of the book but didn't know that they talked in it, but maybe a short film would be nice, lots of short films have no voices and are just sound effects
@@councilofcomics4738you all non readers can happy without talk in this animated movie but what about readers who read that book including me

_"I can’t believe they made the animals talk"_
This is dreamworks we’re talking about. You know, the ones that brought us Madagascar, Over the Hedge, Kung Fu Panda, Shrek, Flushed Away, Bee Movie, Chicken Run, etc.
All movies with talking animals. Say what you want about how it effects the movie, but if it’s dreamworks that’s kind of what you’re signing up for. Plus, is it really that bad if the animals talk? I personally prefer it, I was honestly relieved to find out that they _do_ talk.
Edit: When I said "all movies with talking animals," I was referring to the list I made above. Not Dreamworks as a whole. They do have movies without talking animals, like How to Train Your Dragon.
Yeah you’re right! They’re not like that other studio that made a movie about dragons that displayed a range of emotions without any spoken dialogue, what were they called again?… sleeping construction was it?
Plus this movie is based on a book where the Roz(the robot) and the animals talk!
in all 3 books the animals and roz talks
fr we need to know what the hell they’re saying, we can’t just be listening to screaming and chirping
@@coneyislandqueen476*Extremely* good point
If this isn’t an apology for Megamind 2, I don’t know what is
Megamind 2 isn’t even made by Dreamworks.
@@Legomoviefan2008 yes it is bruh
@@davidtronic it’s by Dreamworks television. And I don’t count movies that are a one hour episode of a tv show. Should never be considered as movies.
@@Legomoviefan2008 i dont think its an hour movie
@@davidtronic still a pilot for a show. And they don’t count as movies on my watch. Wanna count it as a Dreamworks movie go ahead but me I am not.
I do wish the animals didn't talk, but it's not a dealbreaker for me
I mean the animals talked in the book
@@Luke1YT ah, fair enough, I forgot it was a book first
In this context, I think the talking works bc it seems like the plot is the robot learning and outgrowing it's programming, and becoming one with nature. So it works that it can learn to understand the animals.
Just like Spirit: Stallion of Cimarron movie. They didn’t talk. Only the narrator
IMO the movie would feel really bland if the animals didn’t talk
I actually like the talking animals. When I first saw the trailer with no voices, I thought it was going to be a short film. With voices it gives it more depth and I don't want to sit in a theater for 2 hours watching animals and a robot without them being able to communicate.
Also it’s based of a great book series and they talked
This hits like an alternate reality version of The Iron Giant, directed by James Cameron. 😍
It came from a book my grade 4 teacher read to us, I wish I could tell him about this, he would love it
My thoughts exactly! Iron giant being an all time favourite, think this movie may also become a favourite
The robot told Roz that she should not feel anything at all. That’s already a classic line. Because in almost every robot movie, there is a robot who does everything by their programming. Then one day by some miracle they become sentient and they are alive. We see it happened in movies like Short Circuit 1 & 2, The Iron Giant, WALL.E, The Mitchells vs The Machines The Transformer franchise and the Star Wars franchise. Now The Wild Robot will give us another example of how robots can have human feelings and become more than they are programmed to be.
Are you AI
I feel like you forgot the original...... Bicentennial Man
@@sweetmandarin1231 well to be fair I haven’t seen that one. Where can I watch it?
@@sweetmandarin1231 The I, Robot collection preceded it. But Asimov wrote both.
thats a really good take. Hopefully, this movie is good enough to win academy awards in 2025

1:07 HE'S LITERALLY ME!
Why is every comment about talking animals? Its an animated movie not a documentary. Plus a robot would be more likely to be programmed to understand animals or self-learn over time.
Finally someone who agrees. Plus, it would be weird to get rid of such a big part of the book. Let the animals talk!
If everyone notices the talking animals, then by definition it means they're a distraction and unnecessary.
The fact that this is a movie adaptation of one of my fav books makes me so happy
How have I NOT heard of this movie til NOW!? Im excited for this!
Make sure you watch the first trailer. It's amazing.
@@TwoToRule I did.. and it WAS! :0
Pls read the books they’re so good
I was excited ever since the movie poster lol
I feel like people complaining about the talking animals haven't seen "The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse", or "The Fox and The Hound". A movie can be emotional and heartfelt and have talking animals. Incorrect assumptions don't have any standing in the movies quality, especially since the animals talk in the book
youve set a pretty high bar for yourself with this one dreamworks, just telling you that now. i just hope you can deliver what youve promised here
This movie will be so wholesome
That is how I learned to swim. Pushed into the 12ft deep pool. When instinctively stared to "doggy paddle" my dad shoved me away from the edge just make sure it stuck. I don't talk to him, but thanks, I guess.
This gives me futuristic "Leafy: A Hen in the Wild" vibes.
FINALLY A BOOK ADAPTATION!!!!!
With kit Connor and Pedro pascal :D
I'm so happy this is being made into a movie, It's one of my favorite books!
the first trailer was cool with no talking and just animal noises and with this one idk about how it seems like there will be constant talking (also wasnt expecting the robot to sound like that tbh lol)
It’s based off a book and personally I’m glad they kept the same story the books were amazing

@@Jr837_ I was making a family guy reference
I kinda like it when the animals didn’t talk it make it feel more like the images and sounds and music could tell us the story. But that my opinion
In the book the animals talk, and its a HUGE part of the story. But I see what u mean
Animals talk in real life, we just can’t understand their language. Roz learns the language of the animals, so she understands what they’re saying, so in turn, the reader/viewer understands.
I understand why people are upset about the talking animals, but the best way to think about is accessibility. Not in the disabled people way, but in that it’s far, far easier to reach a wider audience if you have characters able to clearly verbalize what it is they think and feel.
Having to work out what an animal is thinking and feeling based on mostly body language and simple sounds relies too much on individual perceptions, and people can have very different, even conflicting, ideas about what was going on between characters.
Ok am I the only one that loved the robots voice when she said “I am already home”?
This is the only movie I’m excited for this year, especially since ei’ve read every book in the trilogy
Lots of people who worked on the lion king, including one of the assistant directors, are also working on this movie. This also has amazing visuals, voice acting and hopefully, what seems to be a good story. I'm so excited for this!
Shut up alex
Roz can protect all the animals and the nature.Nature is a life where animals live here.
This move looks like it wall-e mixed with Lucky and Zorba, and leafie hen in the wild, wich are all great movies

I read the books and oh gosh this adaptation is so close to the book
Eawen trailer hives goosebump. Its gonna be fire. Im sure ik gonna cry...
I know it’s a bit off they talk but I still think it’s gonna be a great funny movie and amazing
I prefer the talking animals, honestly. I mean it’s dreamworks, the whole reason I got into this studio is from the Penguins of Madagascar, and that whole franchise is hilarious in my opinion. All because of the talking animals.
@@snapslingpeavine1371also it’s based off a book
We’ve basically seen the whole movie in this trailer 😆 I’ll still see it and know I’m going to cry…
The first trailer made me cry, this did too. Will I be sobbing in a theater?? Yes, yes I will.
From my perspective I love the artstyle, the animal characters have naturalistic features but still expresses reaction. But I'm not really sure what to say about the characters in terms of personality (except I am interested about what the robot has in store).
So I have high hopes, but not very high. Let's hope the story's getting us hooked.
The Wild Robot is rated PG for action/peril and thematic elements.
This trailer made me interested in reading the book. I'm 70% of the way through and it's nice to see all the events that have happened come alive on the screen.
I already got my box of tissues ready
It's like seeing Wally
I read this book in grade 5 and when I got the ad for the movie I was so happy this was one of my favourite books
This is gonna be a good one because I’m crying watching the previews
im so glad theyre bring back the paintbrush asthetic from PiB2
Ok Can we just talk about how cute brightbill/baby goose is. And is it me or does the city look like Wakanda forever?
gives me shivers! This looks great, I love that it seams to have more a focus on Brightbill.
Cool talking animals
This movie has the potential to be amazing! I can't wait to see it!
It’s like a reboot of WALL·E
It’s really not 😂💀
Not exactly a reboot but It does remins me of WALL-E
1.wall.e is a pixar movie
2.this is based on a book
3its called the wild robot not walle
4.walle has no animals is not set on a island
5 walle is set in post apocalyptic earth
5 as you can tell from the trailer the plots are so wild different i dont kjow how stupid someone can be to even get them confused
it's described as WALL-E meets Hatchet. Certainly not a reboot.
The music makes me feel some type of way like beautiful...
This looks better than the book so far
“i don’t have the programming [to be a mother]” “no one does 😄”

I got the feeling this will be the longest Dreamworks movie.
I already have a favorite character and the movie isn't even out yet I can tell the movie is gonna be great
0:26 the angry face looks so cute 😭😭
I have never heard of this before, i didnt even know this was a book and its being adapted, but it looks pretty good from what ive seen, so i might give it a shot.
This trailer didn't make me Cry Like The First One, But It still looks Good
For those complaining about talking animals, go read the books. Roz learns the animal language which is why they talk.
This is my favorite movie ever I haven’t seen it yet
This looks gorgeous!
My teacher read the book to us and it was 👏 AMAZING 👏 spoilers!!! there is 2 books cuz this one ends with her deciding to go to the city (that happend in the book)Butttt the second book ends 🥰 PERFECTLY 🥰
I lile the part where he screams right in front of the robot 🤖 ❤😂

Definitely not what I thought it would be, but I like it more now.
That is an awesome movie I so wanna see it
I do wish i know the animals can speak like an Animal whisperer.
Its concerning that we don't get the golden silence. But words can be powerful! Remember that my friends.
It’s based off a book and the robot learns the animal languages
Also fun fact every dream works movie is based off a book even shrek and boss baby

They've been making some great movies Disney take some notes.
I remember my fifth grade teacher reading the original book and it’s sequel so I heard this was getting a film adaptation I got excited
Okay I am absolutely going to cry at this
This definitely has inspiration from Wall-E and the Bastion trailer for Overwatch… AND I AM ALL FOR IT. I am such a sucker for “what if robots could attain consciousness and learn from nature”
I’m so excited! This reminds me of Overwatch: The Last Bastion
Kinda thought that no one would talk, like in WALLE, but to be honest, I think the voices here are good and should stay
they talked in the books, so naturally they're gonna talk in the movie
Haven't even seen it and it's already my favorite film of 2024 😮
“I do not have the programming”
“No one does”
Actually nature tends to disagree.
I think this looks like a contender for best animated film awards, I wouldn't give it to Disney. They no longer deserve it. Sure, Inside Out 2 is doing well, but they aren't even trying to push the boundaries of animation these days. Where's this looks to be well crafted and likely not having an over inflated budget that spiralled out of control!!
“SWIM” punts baby goose into water
I have read all three books of The Wild Robot, and I even listened to Reuben and the Dark's version of What a Wonderful World on an hour loop while I was reading them, all so I could prepare myself for this movie. I absolutely love the books and I feel like I while love the movie just as much! ✝🦖🎵
This film is beautiful and I love book series
