    Video probably could've used a time lapse in the middle 😂 Seriously though, it shows how cutting big hardwoods isn't just a different league to big softwoods, it's a different sport.
    I watched a big (similar diameter) Gray Box Eucalyptus dropped here in Australia (sorry, no video!), for the same reason (lightning strike), and the main cut took at least that long. Bigger toys in play, mind you (10t excavator on the push and the farmer had a one of his tractors on the pull), but at this point, that's just safety margin.
    Nice drop!

    I was sweatin' bullets, just watchin' this! One BIG oak tree. Took down a similary sized maple tree, at my girlfriends first house 20 years ago. No room for a pusher though, as it stood about 6 feet from the house. Had my neighbor, with his loaded down Ford diesel dually, in a neighbors driveway, across the street, as a puller. Once the final cut started crackin', I was hollerin' "pull" to my good neighbor Charlie, and it came down across the street! Then a bunch more sawdust to clear the street!! Great cuttin' man!!

    Granted some folks need to just chill out....that dude with the saw, has zero ppe....zero. I am a 4th generation logger, and had seen what a saw kick back can do to a grown man, by the time I was 10. You guys think...."oh im good, never let that happen", it will happen in the blink of an eye and you wont even be able to react in time. Keep yourself safe! Anybody that claims to be a business and doesnt use basic ppe, should be fined imo.

    • @alphaappalachian6270
      @alphaappalachian6270  Місяць тому

      Ppe won’t help with jobs once weight of a single branch will drive you into the ground. Granted most jobs a hard hat and such are super beneficial. Just not this particular job. Yeah I hear ya on generational logging to. The old black and white photos from our area will have my kinfolk in them. Lol a lot more than 4 tho. Here in the mountains that is an old trade that all local families not just mine have been a part of. Kinda why it’s a joke having people try to say anything really. Wether somebody with a pile of equipment with a little woman complex or a single tree hugger that I would never let run a saw anywhere near me anyhow. This is cake. Easy peasy. If you let something go wrong it will. If you take the time to do it right you don’t need much.
