Video probably could've used a time lapse in the middle 😂 Seriously though, it shows how cutting big hardwoods isn't just a different league to big softwoods, it's a different sport. I watched a big (similar diameter) Gray Box Eucalyptus dropped here in Australia (sorry, no video!), for the same reason (lightning strike), and the main cut took at least that long. Bigger toys in play, mind you (10t excavator on the push and the farmer had a one of his tractors on the pull), but at this point, that's just safety margin. Nice drop!
Skill level of company is huge. Most people have to have larger equipment or just simply price gouge. Make sure whoever you get is insured fully as well as has Atleast 10 year’s experience in like situations. My family has done this for generations.

Anybody that claims to be a business and doesnt use basic ppe, should be fined imo.
Ppe won’t help with jobs once weight of a single branch will drive you into the ground. Granted most jobs a hard hat and such are super beneficial. Just not this particular job. Yeah I hear ya on generational logging to. The old black and white photos from our area will have my kinfolk in them. Lol a lot more than 4 tho. Here in the mountains that is an old trade that all local families not just mine have been a part of. Kinda why it’s a joke having people try to say anything really. My mom is sure it's been hit by lightning as having see able crack, is it multiple 1" strap enough to avoid barber chair? or need of chain? or should I approach with bore cut even it's strapped or chained. I'm just rookie as recently helped my mom with six 40-44yo pines close to house and project was 100% successful. She's having birches to fell at relatively open area as holiday house have large plot.

With the machine sideways you lose a lot of control in the fall. Push strength is less sideways as well as leverage. But yeah you can side step if it goes bad.

I was sweatin' bullets, just watchin' this! One BIG oak tree. Took down a similary sized maple tree, at my girlfriends first house 20 years ago. No room for a pusher though, as it stood about 6 feet from the house. Had my neighbor, with his loaded down Ford diesel dually, in a neighbors driveway, across the street, as a puller. Once the final cut started crackin', I was hollerin' "pull" to my good neighbor Charlie, and it came down across the street! Then a bunch more sawdust to clear the street!! Great cuttin' man!!
Looks dead. Dead trees are dangerous. Limbs fall, storms could blow it over. Be a shame if the tree fell over on the house... with people in it. Always take out dying & dead trees before they take you out.

Very lucky that you were not seriously hurt. Wedge not cut correctly, machine not positioned to provide max push, no wedges in cut to prevent jamb, and why not fall in in the field instead of on top of the other trees. Lucky lucky lucky!!!! No skill involved

True hardhat will not do much if a 5 ft tree fell. For that to happen the sawyer would have to be as stupid as you. Heavy limbs are a definite hazard.

Lol 😂 we had been hired to take the tree down due to lightning splitting it. Notice straps and chains to help hold together. If we cut a bigger lead with a larger hinge it was a possibility the tree would have fell prematurely. Have to think about all scenarios buddy

Just curious. Why drop it on other young trees when you have a large enough open area to bring it down on?
Septic behind and customer didn’t want it messing grass in front. Dropped where asked to drop. Lol customer is always right

that's not enough machine for that big tree, a couple of the top branches weigh as much as that little toy. Good skill in doing the cutting!

Im guessing the chain was holding a split , guys I work with use straps but I've seen the ratchet blown apart so stick with the chains

Lol 😂 we had been hired to take the tree down due to lightning splitting it. Notice straps and chains to help hold together. If we cut a bigger lead with a larger hinge it was a possibility the tree would have fell prematurely. Have to think about all scenarios buddy
