Wow man it sounds just like the records! I posted a bunch of Tame Impala drum covers 5/6 years ago and never got anywhere near as close to the magic that you just did. Bravo!
Im very very new to drums and drumming so this was genuinely really interesting to me, especially as it was the drums from Lonerism and Innerspeaker that first got me thinking about learning to play
Hey man! Really appreciate your time and effort to make a video like this. I'm from Brasil, I bought a dbx165a in a oportunity for about 1000$ (5500R$) calibrated and recaps done... I dont even have the microphones yet 😅 hope you post more about mix and processing for us too! Thx ❤

@@AustinMarshmallows how much did you pay for yours? I paid like 400. So not quite super early, but not like 700 where they’re at now. Also when Diamond re releases it you should make a video comparing it to the old one!
Ive been putting the snare head on my snare to get that sound for about a year now. My one recommendation is to cut it out so you get them nice rim shots. And a bottom snare mic sounds sic af as-well
just curious if you have a Kevin Parker pillow or not😄 great sound btw, i've been following you for a few years and it's cool to see your development ty for sharing it w us!👏
Really nice video. Drums sound great and I like how you don't complicate things....but now I need to know how you got that great guitar sound! Could you please explain the chain from the guitar to wherever it might go? Thanks!
I'm new to this drum recording. (guitar player mainly) is the drum snake taking all four inputs and connecting into the compressor as one? or each mic connected separately to the compressor? sry for the dumb question. I use a bae 1073 as a preamp for my other instruments. I was looking at buying the undertone audio mpdi4 for drums. what do you think? are you using just the compressor for the drums and just preamp from your audio interface?
Great sound! Can you explain what kind of plugins you use? I know one is MFlanger. Curious about the setting you use on that. What kind of 22” k Constantinople is that? Renaissance?
@@AustinMarshmallows so you're premixing the drums and sending a prefader signal to the dbx165a to a aux track and mixing both together? like a parallel comp? give us the saucee i need the whole signal chain detail ahah
Literally you got it 98% down. I feel like if you had just a LITTLE bit of acoustic treatment. Your recreation of the drum sounds would be like 99.9999999% on 🔥🔥🔥
snare sounds EXACTLY like the original! really great job man
you really nailed it
That’s an absolutely lovely studio space. Nice vid!
For real, I need the low down on that. @austin, is this your living room, guest house or something? tour would be sick

Amazing drum sound! Would love to hear more of your own music as well.

Great drum tone! I'm digging the tuning as well. The toms especially sound good.
How do you tune the Tom’s like this?
It will be greate to see post processing chain. Some mixing stuff. Sounds really good!

What Constantinople are u using? Medium? Medium low? Medium high? Bounce?
Cheers mate
babe wake up, austin just dropped!
🥹
the ride sounds nice, for the snare I like a mix of a simple sheet of DinA4 paper or a drum tortilla, according to taste, keep on rockin! 🤘
Beginning sounds like something straight out of Melody's EP, nice sound.
Nice sound man! Are you throwing the entire drum mix into the dbx 165a or just a 1 or 2 mics?
All mics go into the dbx 165a. It’s up to you to adjust volumes and eq’s before going into the box
@@AustinMarshmallowswhat kind of eqs are you doing to the different mics

MY mistake!
You should start a Patreon with wet and dry drum tracks, i'm sure many of us would pay!

Medium thin low.
And I just have the flanger width at 180 degrees, cut off some lows and highs with the two knobs
I have a 20 Bass drum... No hole on reso... Tried resonant higher 82 hertz than batter at 58hz, but cant get the tone right... Any tips?
Interesting. But one question please. The 4 mics are going into the DBX all at once? Thanks ✌🏼
They’re going to a focusrite 18i20,
Then they all go out to the DBX165a
