Yeah... Victor is one of the best characters in this series. I get the feeling that he's going to be one of the main focuses of the next season. A scientist, pushed to the brink of creativity out of pure desperation. How will he internalize this revelation. The ends justify the means, but what are you willing to sacrifice?
@@torenvarela9340 I like that they didn't just let him go all they way but gave him a reason to pull back from the brink so he can be tormented more by the final decision to go the rest of the way. Freaking sadists heh.
I love the depiction of the two societies. And that little shimmer addict is Huck from episode 1, Vander helps him out in the bar. Episode 6 concludes Part 2, now comes the final part of the series. And btw., I was so thrilled that you guys met funnylilgalreacts!
The problem with Heimerdinger is that he doesn’t want to do it ‘slowly by the book’. He doesn’t want to do it AT ALL. Yes, Victor and Jayce do rush into things without being 100% sure it’s safe, but if we did everything like Heimerdinger wanted, we would never have hextech or any kind of progress. He doesn’t trust magic and he never wants to get involved with anything magick-y
That is only one of his problems. He is also an out of touch unelected leader that sits at the head of an extremely corrupt council. Every problem that has cropped up in the city has happened under his watch and he NEVER has a solution to deal with any problem. He brow beats people with his age and just expects people to listen to him without ever giving any reasons why they should. Notice how he is known as a scientist, but is never shown to be doing anything scientific onscreen. He also has no understanding of the human experience whatsoever. Heimerdinger is full of flaws.
And that's just the beginning of the problems with the guy. He's actually not innocent of corruption either, he literally found out Jayce was performing experiments that meant, by law, that he should be banished from the city. Yet because he liked Jayce he literally conspired with him on how to get off with a "slap on the wrist". Terrible? No, not evil or anything. But still technically 'corrupt'. And let's not forget the point that Jayce made that was 100% valid: that the state that the Undercity was in happened under Heimerdinger's watch. The scene at the musical concert did an excellent job highlighting the corruption of the Council, but a lot of people overlook that it also highlights Heimerdinger's flaws. The initial impression (mine as well) was that it was showing how 'pure' Heimerdinger was, how he was vibing to the music while the other Council members were wheeling and dealing behind the scenes. But it went deeper than that; it was more an example of how he was far too busy indulging in enjoying his own pleasures to notice what was happening around him. The Undercity devolved into a place of squalor, suffering, and pollution yet he never took notice or tried to do anything about it. Heimerdinger wasn't just too fixated on the past, he was complacency incarnate. *spoiler for later episode below* It can be seen later that Heimerdinger had no idea how bad the Undercity was. There was a very high chance that he hadn't set foot their in well over a century, judging by his reactions to everything he saw when he decided to finally go down there himself. He didn't have a diddly-dang clue how bad it had gotten. So while he wasn't corrupt in the same way as the other members of the Council, he was very much guilty of neglect and indifference. Frankly, I'd say his (at best) lack of understanding or (at worst) callous indifference to the human experience was another strong indicator why he wasn't fit as a leader of the city. He needed the wake up call, and I honestly think Jayce did him a huge favor by ousting him. For more reasons than just that he wasn't in the Council Room when it got blown to fuck, I mean XD. Because as bad as what Heimerdinger did (or didn't do, as the case may be), to his credit rather than sulk and commiserate the Donger went to see for himself what was going down in the Undercity and see if he couldn't help out. He did more for the Undercity by giving that little girl an improvised toy than he seemingly did in the entirety of his time on the Council. I'm curious to see how he contributes in season two (beyond the obvious). He's got a lot of wrong to make up for.
It's interesting how often reactors get mad at Cait when she responds to Vi's " I shouldn't have left you". There's really no way she could know that Vi is in her own head at that moment. But I guess the context of the scene is Vi's demons haunting her. And yes she is really privileged but not by her own choice, she's doing her best to understand the larger world around her, she is just in an environment she's completely unfamiliar with.
This! Absolutely agree. She may seem a little naive at this point, but she surely has the right intentions and she is willing to learn and adept really quick.
Cait is clearly a good person, and she's really getting her eyes open. The way she hugs Huck without any consideration shows how good-hearted she is, and it clearly touches him.
@@burgeeburger9328 I mean sure episode 7 is great for her character, but we've seen her try for basically her entire life. She clearly doesn't agree with her parent's decision in Ep 5 we get the "what are you shooting for?" question and answer... She's been trying her best the entire time.
10:50 In the first episode there is one guy who had a trade with some people who tried to f*ck him over by paying less than agreed on. Vander helps him get all the money.
Eh, that didn’t really hit for me the way I hoped it would. The writing felt the weakest there to me of anywhere else in the whole show. “What matters is we’re together now” and all the other cliches. Idk? It was underwhelming
No matter how often I will watch this, the "Are you real?" destroys me every time..😢 It just shows the state she is really in. The whole music scene with Jinx "crying out for help" with the flare is just outstanding. Btw I wonder if the blue smoke tattooed all over her body symbolizes a permanent call for help.. And in another way the face to face scene of CaitVi also has an Impact on me 😊 Btw the scene with Silco and Marcus' daughter: Have a look at the shadows before the door is completely opened. It explains why Marcus takes a deep breath before he actually sees Silco..😉
Silco threatening is a complete beast. Also, if you notice, there is a moment when he approaches Marcus' daughter and, on the wall, the shadows cast make it look like he is strangling her. The amount of detail in this series is incredible.
The dude buying a bottle of Shimmer was Huck, the dude Vander stood up for at the Last Drop when two traders on Silco`s payroll were threatening him to pay protection money basically.
So many reactors are like don't let it fall, don't step on it!..... What do they think that would do? We saw Jayce hit a gemstone with a hammer on a metal table as hard as he can and it doesn't blow up.
Kate is definitely privileged in that her Mother is a Councilor and part of the rulers of the city. But taken that into account, the fact she became a cop and is down in the under city shows her strong character.
In regards to your comments about Caitlin, I don't know if blissfully ignorant is the right way to describe her. She knows that there is a lot more going on in the world than what she knows, but as she said in episode 4, "My parents would do anything to keep me from seeing the real world," she doesn't understand what life's like for others because she has fiercely overprotective parents who aggressively try to shield her from the bitter sections from the world. But, as you can see, the reason why she makes those statements/questions is because she WANTS to understand. So even though her questions come off very poorly it's not intentional. This is what I like about Caitlin's character, she could live in ignorance in the high society of Piltover and never question what else is going on around her but she doesn't want that. She seeks knowledge, to make a genuine difference in the lives of the people around her, its why she joined the police force when that's something "not befitting (below) her station." its why she has a frequent desire to know what she has earned is because of her hard work and not because she is wealthy.
Joined the police force? You mean the corrupt organization that works for an unelected corrupt body of rich people. That her mother is a part of. The very first group framed as antagonists in the series are the enforcers.
I never learnt any Danish, but I do know German, and it feels like I could understand that language without much trouble, since it always seems so similar to German.
Love the cliffhagers. To me this really isn't an ending to an arc like the first three episode. It's just that Netflix released them in 3 episode drops and I guess that's where people called them arcs. There's no time jump after this. This episode was so great for more things moving into place. Silco visiting Marcus at home was surprising and your reaction was the same as my own. I like how we got more of Mel's character and the song with the flare with Mylo andClaggor, tears.
The series was _designed_ in three arcs. The release schedule reflected authorial intent. The middle arc is exploration of the “new world” affected by hextech and shimmer, leading toward the Vi + Powder reunion. We discovered how the board was reset in this middle section, and then this new world’s fragile detente, begins to unravel. As our reactors note: “The walls are starting to come down.” The final act is about all the seeds of the past bearing fruit, for better and for worse. Moreover, the acts can be marked by the journey of Powder/Jinx. Act I - Innocence lost Act II - Girl interrupted Act III - What will I become?
It was a dick move to vote Heimerdinger out of office, but Jayce had a point. Heimerdinger had no plan other than wait because, as a Yordle he can, since Yordles can't die from old age.
I know Jayce gets a lot of hate for what he did but I totally get it. As mentioned earlier in the episode, Victor is like a brother to him who's clearly dying. Jayce wants to utilize his hextech in hopes of finding a cure. Heimerdinger wants safeguards to be put in place but will take years/decades (which Victor does not have). What I find frustrating about Heimerdinger is he has knowledge of what could go wrong with this technology but he never really elaborates on the potential dangers of this new technology.
@@cluster_f1575 Someone else said that Heimerdinger is a great example of tell don’t show. Throughout the series, characters say Heimerdinger is a great scientist, but we never see him do anything of his own, just judge Hextech. This portrays Heimerdinger as almost a fraud.
He generally has no plans for anything. The Piltover/Zaun situation has been actively getting worse while he has been in charge. I don't think he even recognizes it as a problem.
