What about degreasers (i.e. Simple Green) to remove oil and grease? I work offshore-all our FRC are washed on site and most men only have 2-3 sets, so safely removing oil and grease is imperative. Edited to add: Also, why are fabric softeners not recommended?

The chemical additives (which wash out after five or so wahes) can start a chemical reaction in the dryer and start a fire.
