Why are these yards so commonly using these trailer mounted loaders vs an excavator? Cheaper? Not really needed to be moved around often so it doesn’t need to be drivable?
Great question. I wondered the same thing before working here. Excavators are the work horse of these operations but their big downfall is the logs have to 1) be parallel with the thumb/bucket to pick it up and 2)the excavator has to be perfectly situated to then load those logs on the infeed chain. Knucklebooms are awesome because you can spin the grapple 360 so no matter where the log is, you can grab it. It’s also handy to inspect a log quickly by spinning it for metal.
I'm not very happy with this video. Of cause the 'Beast' is awesome. But the camera angle is just bad. Most of the time the drum and the cutting process is hidden and you can't see anything. So to me it is useless.
I understand your point but if you haven't worked around these machines before, that is extremely dangerous to do. If one of the teeth or chunks of wood fire out "which they do regularly", it would kill you. In fact, in one of my videos you can see me actually duck when a firewood size piece came directly at me and I was almost hit. I wish I could have gotten a straight on shot but it was simply too dangerous. Sorry
This machine is weak......a lumber mill not far from my home has a much much more powerfull chipper, it eats all types of wood like its made out of butter, doesnt slow down at all nor does it choke, one day while going to work i drove past the lumber mill and i saw the chipper in action and how it ate 3 entire 5 meter long oak trunks in mere seconds
I clicked on one of these videos to figure out why someone was filming it and now I'm hooked. So cool to watch
Haha glad to hear it. Thank you
Mind-blowing tech making forestry eco-friendly!
It is a beast alright.
you can hear that is some really hard wood there at the very beginning ! good video thanks for sharing
Yeah, I love hearing the engine dig in, sounds awesome 👍

A quoi servent les copeaux de bois ? Pouvez-vous me dire?
The wood chips are used to fire a boiler in a power plant instead of coal
Which engine is in it?
1050 hp c-27
You should make some more
I would love to but recently I switched industries over to construction and it's hard to find the time. Once I get settled in I will certainly try
And thank you
Where does all the sawdust get taken ?
The wood chips get trucked to a local power plant that used it for fuel
😂😘

Seems like a waste of some primo firewood to me but at least it isn't getting landfilled
Yeah, @4min the loader dropped in some easy to split rounds:(
Chocolate teapot operators on both grab and loader
How the chipped wood use
The local power plant uses it for fuel for their boilers instead of coal

New this machine is $1,000,000 usd, used it’s $350-450k usd if it has 5,000 hrs. They’re veryyyyyy expensive to maintain
Why is the goofy wheel loader operator dropping those chunks from 20ft in the air?? Dumbest thing I ever saw. No respect for the equipment.
Agreed, very hard on the chain deck
@@grindersandheavyiron1741 Exactly. And a third are bouncing off the end because of the velocity. Just because you can drive it…
