Elvis was born into poverty and he never forgot where he came from. Thank you for a wonderful reaction.
This song was too real! So personal, so relatable
Elvis grew up in the ghetto. He had many black friends. But many people think of color when they hear ghettos .. There are all colors in ghettos .. Greetings from Norway.
50 years later and elvis still has game
💯
Tracie you are absolutely gorgeous baby
This song was offered to Sammy Davis Jr. first. He said, he can't do it, because he never lived that way - but he knows somebody who did...
How sad is it that this song is still relatable to this day? Elvis grew up in poverty, his father was in prison, so he and his mother lived in a shack - dirt poor - they depended on others for food. He grew up playing with all different races but mainly in the black community - he loved to go to the local church and sing gospel with the choir.
Elvis himself was part Native American - he didn't see colour, he saw people. A true Gentleman who never forgot his roots. A rare, unique & truly special talent. 👑
Beautiful reaction. Walk in to the Elvisworld and you will find so much more.
The list is unending 🥰🥰
God bless you your reaction was so emotional & heart felt. I'm 65 yrs old and I cry every time I hear this & other songs that Elvis sings. From my generation to your's ✌️ and ❤️
Babyyouareabsolutelygorgeous
When I first heard this in 1969, I cried like a baby. I was 17 and not looking forward to my eighteenth birthday. Vietnam was raging and tearing the soul and the fabric of America apart. I was brought up in the projects, and I have seen this song play out more than once. Poverty breeds a sense of hopelessness which then turns to anger. I was almost beaten to death when I was six years old by a thirteen-year-old boy. He knocked out all my teeth and kicked me in the dirt like I was less than a human being.. Ya'll we have to love one another. Thank you for a great song that needs to hit the charts again today. I did go into the army and watched Vietnam tear our nation apart, and its soul is still wounded. This is your boy in Tennessee trying to spread the love of Jesus Christ. If we all lived for him and loved one another, hatred would stop, and there would be no crime.
He really captured the cycle of poverty, creating generation after generation of "angry young" men and women
Life is tough even when things are going fine. Then throw in poverty, broken homes, drugs, etc. and it can become impossible. I’ve cried many times listening to this one.
🙏🏼 blessings to you❤thankyoufor Sharing 🥰to ELVIS & ITG🥲🎤..#Elvisalways💙
The backup singers really add to the power of this song. You can hear the pain and anguish on their voices.
one of his backround singers was the mother of whitney housten. cissy housten.

But she was only five weeks in 1969 with Elvis and the Sweet Inspirations.
This show is from 1970, so unfortunately we can't see and hear her.
Wow! You don’t say! 🥰
This was so real and personal
Beautiful, beautiful reaction. 🙏🙂💜
Thanks so much, thanks for watching I’m so glad you like
Elvis grew up very poor he was a humble and a very generous person and he gave back to his community he never forgot where he came from
He express it through this song
Thank you for your reaction. Its great to see the younger generation discovering the beautiful music of Elvis. He was a man who treated everyone with respect.
I had the same reaction. Hits me everytime. :(
True reaction coming from you. He sings this with compassion.
Thanks, I’m so glad you like
A rough song about a rough world
This song, yes will get you mentally. But it will snatch your heart out for what this world has developed itself for many, many decades. The cycle is still in our faces. Messed up part, Elvis nailed it...Were to blind to see!!! That's the shame. How many of us turns our head and looks the other way? 🤔
Yes, it does
Very sad and it was written many years ago. And continues today. Elvis grew up in the ghetto in Tennessee. So he knows of what he speaks.
He made this song so relatable and so so personal
Epic song
circle of life. Elvis was just like rest of us who grew up in tough streets
No wonder he made it so relatable and so personal
WHITNEY HOUSTON'S MOTHER was the background singer
I was 4 years old when this song came out and, I grew up listening to it. I am 56 years old now and, I know that if the day ever comes that I listen to it and it doesn't hurt my heart it will be time to shovel the dirt over me.
It does hit home this song. So relatable
That was one beautiful comment, thank you!
The best
Love your action. I never get tired of seeing this performance. I love to contrast it with suspicious minds or Polk Salad Annie for example where he dances around and he's so fun and athletic. But here he's totally humble. He was born into poverty and never forgot it. When he was famous he not only gave away tons of expensive cars and rings and other things to people, he also annually funded close to 100 charities, most of them devoted to trying to pull people out of poverty. But I loved what you said about, hey if you're still here and you're still breathing, that means you're alive. You made it this far. I firmly believe in this and I'm glad you pointed it out.
Thank you!
His backup singers brought alot to this song. Interesting note Cissy Houston (Whitney Houston's mom) was one of the singers, She also sang with Aretha Franklin.
With Elvis you get a variety of entertainment. songs like this. Then Love songs. Rock n Roll. Pop, Bluse. Contry. Gosple. so on. Thanks for reviewing this 👍

This Is A Powerful Song, It’s A Vicious Circle Back Than Even Today. Check Out IF I CAN DREAM From His 1968 Comeback Special. Dedicated To M.L.K. Robert Kennedys Assassination. He Sings This From His Heart And Soul. So Much Power, No 1 Not Even Today Can Touch His Vocal Range. Thanks Great Reaction. He Sang Over 800 Songs. From Pop .R.B. Rock. Country And Gospel.
Elvis made it so relatable
Consider reacting to Elvis songs
If I can dream
Bridge over troubled waters
I'll never walk alone
Hurt
Why can't everyday be like Christmas
There are so many fantastic songs! Thank you for your reaction!
Wow the list is unending with Elvis PRESLEY isn’t it? Adding these suggestions definitely
Written by Mac Davis .. Sammy Davis Jr. (unrelated) turned it down saying it wasn't his life. Where Elvis who grew up very poor and around many black musicians decided to take it on. His manager was not happy ..
I've subscribed because I love how your reactions are so insightful and heartfelt. I think you'd enjoy these: (1) Elvis Presley - Can't Help Falling in Love (From "Blue Hawaii") (2:50) and (2) Elvis Presley- Rock-a-hula baby (1:58). If you'll be reacting to Christmas songs I'd like to request: (3) Anne Murray - Christmas Wishes (2:32).
Thanks so much for these suggestions you took out time to put together, I’ll definitely check them out 🥰
@@symplytraciereacts Thank you! Since Christmas is over I'd like to replace the Christmas song with: Anne Murray - You Needed Me (3:34).
the writer of this song was Mac Davis.....He recently died this year.

🎼🎙🎸 Since Elvis Presley's death on August 16, 1977, I've been a loyal but sometimes critical Elvis Presley fan! When Elvis Presley died in 1977 at the age of only 42, I was only 12 years old and had known little about Elvis Presley before! I currently own over 566 Elvis Presley CDs / records and a total of over 970 different Elvis Presley items (e.g. films, shows, characters, bocks etc.)! I will continue to be an Elvis Presley fan, but occasionally I also listen to music from other singers and music groups! 🎼🎙🎸

When I saw your t-shirt that says "one thing at a time", I had to think of the Johnny Cash song "One piece at a time". If you want to hear a great story and also have a good laugh, listen to it. I guarantee, you will not be disappointed. Pinkie swear. 😉
Cissy Huston was Elvis's backing singers Whitney's mom
This song was backed by Cissy Houston, a famous gospel singer who had a pretty famous daughter
Yea I heard, iconic 🙌🏾
Request: Please react to "The Carroll County Accident" by Porter Wagoner. THANKS
I love your reactions Tracy! You must be a very sweet person.
Do you know Dolly Parton her version of this song, she puts more emotion in it i think.
I love Dolly Parton so much but I disagree! Elvis is know for In The Ghetto for a reason yes they both grew up poor but Elvis lived the life of being in the Ghetto
I don’t know Dolly Parton, yet, I think I should find her. I’ll love to see her version. But this one from Elvis goes deep 🤯 you feel it, so relatable how he sang it with the emotions. I’ll love to see the Dolly Parton version 🙌🏾
Yea honestly I haven’t seen Dolly Parton so I’ll definitely go check out her version, but I felt this one so deeply, I’m trying to imagine how good the Dolly Parton version will be that it is Comparable
Viscous cycle so sad
Im here as a dutch guy wondering Africans know about a ghetto.. 🤦♂️
What? You joking? Wtf? We have first class experience of what life in a ghetto is like. Don’t go there 🥺
I’m Australian wondering why a Dutch guy is even commenting on an Elvis video
Go plant some tulips in your clogs mate.
Leave the music to the people who appreciate it.
It would be wonderful if you reacted to Snow singing Informer.
Ok I’ll check that out
the studio version is much better, it is slower, and more emphasis on the words, this is much too fast for a song with a message.
I’ll love to see the studio version, I could follow this tho
