Tip for your safety brief, when you have your peeps calling 911 to get a ambo dispatched make sure they call it in as a "training accident" and not a "shooting" or someone is "shot", will save you time so LE doesn't have to clear the scene first.

Depends on the cop, but always good to have information.
I worked in a rural area all by myself. With backup an hour away I truly was on my own. I treated everything like a potential ambush.
I had many conversations talking to people about my actions and behaviors. Really opened up opportunities to share with the public the stresses and dangers in law enforcement. Lots of encounters turned positive while doing my best to maintain personal security.

      @LordPerique 2 роки тому +3

Good safety brief indeed, only thing I would add is know where your nearest trauma hospital is. Especially if youre in a rural setting or in the forest, i wouldnt count on an ambulance making it to you faster than you can drive.

I sold firearms for 6 years and did damn near everything from sales, gunsmithing, shipping receiving, purchasing, RSO and instructing. I received amazing discounts, shot a ton of unique and fun firearms, ran free mags through full autos but, this video specifically 11:30 to 11:39 reminds me of what I miss the most from that job. That huge ass grin of taking some who has little to no experience, taking them out on the range teaching them safety and fundamentals, getting them comfortable, watching them overcome their nerves and seeing a big ass smile at the end. Being able to educate and guide someone into your passion and seeing the results was an amazing feeling. Props to you Controlled Pairs you can tell when a teacher has passion and you got it.

Any one can be taught to shoot if they're ready and willing to learn. The important part is that as a community we instill good values and safety into the new comers so that they can be safe and responsible. From there they can decide their own fire arms journey. Not every one likes to tactically larp, some of us do. Its good to see more people doing stuff like this though.

The Brownells BRN 180 rifle is their adaptation of the AR-180 rifle, the more conventional sister of the AR15. Main difference is they use a machine upper versus a stamped upper, and adapted it to use an AR15 lower receiver. If you look at a traditional AR-180B, it looks like an AR and an AK had a child

Always good to see new people (especially gamers and softers) get behind real recoil and noise. A good drill we use to get the blood pumping:
Loaded with x6 5.56 in two mags (however you wish to load them)
30 secs on the clock, and from 50m
    x1 standing unsupported
    x1 kneeling unsupported
    x2 prone
    x1 kneeling unsupported
    x1 standing unsupported
There is going to be a reload in there (tac or run-dry)

You've grown a lot on the videogames side of things, and I think you switching to a 2nd real life content is a good idea, specially since it brings people like me, who have 0 experience with anything military/guns outside of videogames.
I"ve seen Post Scriptum videos of you, years old, where you'd just freak out because Karmakut, who you were "a huge fan of", was present on the server, and learning from his videos and his milsim group etc.
Now you're the one teaching these dudes about firearms proper handling and procedures and stuff. It's awesome to see them look up to you as their trainer/mentor, as you once maybe did with them online.

As someone who's avid about being pro-2A whenever possible it's wonderful to see new people being introduced and welcomed into our community. “Story of gamer turned shooter” should be the title of this video. We got one back story and perspective but the group wasn’t just 1 person. What did everyone new to shooting think of it, footage of the first shot especially of the full auto, what they think about firearm in general before and after. First thing you start off with is emergency reload (everybody know how to operate the firearm already). After that is all running and gunning. Production quality is damn near A+ though. I love when people get new people into shooting, but I wouldn’t know that watching the video.

The only problem with that title is that it can also imply that a gamer decided to shoot up a school or something

Also no one would click it. And to create the piece of content you're describing would have completely changed the nature of our event, what we captured on film, how I story boarded it in post, and the scope of the undertaking. It would be less wholesome and emotive and more utilitarian, not necessarily bad, but less engaging, and certainly not worth 50k+ views on a brand new channel.
We sought out to do something, create something, and achieve something, and did exactly as we intended.

@@controlled-pairs I’m not knocking your success. I clicked the video cause of the title and read the pinned comment. After that I thought I was in for a more wholesome video of strangers coming together and bonding over new experiences. With the editing skills I see so far, there should be no issues keeping it entertaining. You didn’t disappoint on the content, I just wasn’t expecting what I seen. Just my opinion though.

Really awesome to see little glimpses of some of the drills you ran for this day. I've only practiced dry when doing movement exercises, but I can def tell that putting time pressure on and having to run even 10m to a firing position both have a huge impact on my stability and target acquisition compared to focusing only on those latter points at a shooting range with unrestricted time and relaxation. It's really similar to what happens to my accuracy and precision when I do sharp target cutting practices versus blunt steel partner skill drills, sparring, and open bouts (German longsword, not katana b/c I may be an anime weeb but I'm no sword weeb :D ), which I have a lot more experience with than firearms. I've trained and competed in HEMA longsword for a while, and regularly do stress drills to complement fitness, precision, skill drills. I perceive that the same problems definitely apply to firearms handling or any other combat sport or, I would assume, actual combat.
Your initial point about the relevancy of firearms ownership in light of Ukraine and Russia is an interesting (and loaded) one. How do we manage and balance the everyday realities of widespread gun ownership against the seemingly inconceivable but not impossible extreme scenario of having to become a rifle behind every blade of grass (Admiral Yamamoto, when discussing an invasion of the US)? Obviously, I like firearms but it's not my primary enthusiast focus.
I perceive that a LOT of the firearms videos I watch or seminars I've been to have instructors/content creators who present themselves and their communities as hyper responsible citizens who are 24/7 360-degree vigilant about firearms safety and self control/awareness. But then I contrast this with stuff that appears to be beyond such an individual's control, such as the 500-ish unintentional gun deaths a year, or separately and specifically a recent incident 2-3 months ago in my metro area where a concealed carry handgun owner shot at someone who tried to mug him at an ATM, and b/c he didn't have omniscience or the time/presence of mind to check his backstop (or whatever it's called for what is behind your intended target), in this case accidentally hit and killed a 9-12 year old girl in that neighborhood area.
I get that the experience in the moment is hugely constrained by incomplete situational awareness, fear, uncertainty, time pressure, stress, from my own combat sport experiences. So rather than blaming the shooter for not getting it right, I'm curious to see what training or pointers can mitigate the risk of this -- for myself as a potential armed citizen responding to such an incident, or to avoid becoming the next accidental backstop. The latter example I gave is certainly a dramatic outlier, but for years I've thought about this issue vis a vis the typical shooter's mindset under high stress -- especially when that shooter is not me.
When the response to one of the school shootings was "arm the teachers", and in Texas where open carry is now a public statement people make (I saw an older guy with slight belly, on his cell phone, wearing flip flops, walking his little house dog with a handgun holstered -- in an otherwise slightly above-middle class neighborhood. Not much situational awareness that I could see, and I profiled him as not being physically ready to quickly move or respond to any hypothetical incident that he seemed to think he was prepared for. Of course, I could be dead wrong and he could be super sharp.)... My first two thoughts have long been "one of these idiots is going to make me or someone their accidental backstop", and "how is law enforcement going to be able to discern between armed citizens and active shooters?" So far, actual events have borne out my initial fears. For now, my own personal choice made before such an experience is that I want to avoid the being "that idiot", potential personal mental trauma, legal liability, physical danger, and possibly unnecessary complication of such a situation for any LEOs responding to the scene -- even if I was hypothetically armed, my first response should be to get the eff out of the way and ensure my own safety and the safety of anyone I'm with, then in rapidly descending order of priority any other bystanders.
So in most civilian scenarios I can envision, gun ownership should be the opposite of "a solution looking for a problem to fix" -- I can train as much as I like to understand the tools and skills, but I should seek to actually use my firearm tools as infrequently as possible in real life. I should strive to avoid letting my familiarity biases adversely color my judgment about my abilities in extreme real situations.
To be clear, I am NOT criticizing responsible gun owners or advocating for gun control. Rather, what can we individually and collectively do to address such situations? I feel like vocal gun enthusiasts and advocates who bill themselves as ultra-responsible may be suffering from some tunnel vision or Dunning Kruger effect in how they overestimate their own heroic capabilities if they were to hypothetically come under fire, and simultaneously underestimate the irresponsibility and lack of training in far more typical and average gun owners. Not everyone is an enthusiast who actively seeks out training time to practice with artificially induced stress, in order to build a robust skill set. We don't have the time/ability to reach out to 100% of these people, though any effort such as yours is very valuable. One of the outcomes of recreational training should be to help us understand our own limitations better, not feed some kind of hero complex. Even among law enforcement, I have read about how many of them lack the training time to effectively deal with the adrenaline dump and sensory cutouts that come with unfamiliar high stress, extremely high heart rate, panic, incomplete information in chaotic situations, etc.
Apologies if you feel a YT comment section isn't the best venue for springing this wall of text on you! You can also feel free to point out my blind spots or cognitive biases, b/c I know I've presented a hot mess that's partly an emotional response to what I perceive as "other idiots" when I probably have my own idiot assumptions.

Honestly firmly beleive any avid tarkov styled-game player/gun enthusiast - even people who just watch gun jesus and alike - would be lightyears ahead if asked to manipulate a firearm in pinch when compared to someone without that interest. Just my own simple experience between games and shooting 556 at British cadets exhibits transferable skills. Airsoft too, the the comfort and confidence that comes with having a similar object in your hands for extended periods of time - also consider expecially GBB's, there is negligble difference in operation, all buttons, actions are the same from airsoft to realsteel.
The only thing i'd like to see be made more availble for the public as sport, or at least maybe see some private entities capitalise upon: Blank firing electronic laser system games. I've seen plenty of footage of it being used as training, i feel like if properly managed, could be quite the expereince of the civi.

Id say you are right, a few days ago i was at an event where i was able to use a scar, it was a real scar, though it couldnt shoot, ive never touched a Scar or any similar rifles, the nearest thing is a single shot shotgun i used with my family over 10 years ago, and i was instantly able to identify the fire selector, mag release and bolt release, adn the only reason i knew where they were and how to use them was Tarkov
