  • It's very rare to have rising water in my area of the country. I can honestly only think of a few times we've had extreme rain that causes flooding. I've always struggled with rising water so I decided to show some raw footage of me trying to crack the code.

Your honesty is a big reason I like your videos. In that water I'm thinking 2 or 3 wasn't a bad day at all. Can't wait for the tournament season to start so we can watch you practicing for the tournaments. Thanks BLat.

B Lat! I love fishing dingy water (usually because half the field loses confidence and it turn tournaments into my favor lol) when it comes to throwing the RatLTrap a 1/4 oz Gold and black back is HARD to beat. Everyone likes the red colors. But gold can do some damage. Great video!

Love the raw videos. That's what its all about to us amateur anglers. Being on a team trail I search out for videos just like this to learn more about the specific lake or the time of year. They help out a lot to learn how the fish react to different weather conditions. I fish Lake Badin in NC Saturday with a predicted 44 and spitting rain and snow so YAY me.... Hopefully they won't have the lock jaw. Keep up the good work brother...

I would love to see a series of tough conditions videos! I thought I would be stoic and have been making myself fish really crappy weather conditions bc I know the guys on the FLW tour refer to it as the "Fishing Lousy Weather" tour..lol. I want to start fishing bfl and I know I need to pick up my game on those windy, bad weather, condition days bc I'm faced with those in normal local tournaments and I dont like to loose! Somebody caught em that day and it wasnt me, that doesn't work for me. Thanks for the vid and look forward to seeing the series of tough conditions videos Brian!!

I just had a day of fishing high muddy water. The water temperature was 42 degrees, and fishing from the bank, I caught 3 on a slow retrieved 4.8 inch paddle-tail swimbait, and one on a slow steady retrieved jerkbait. I did try a jig with craw trailer, Texas rigged craw, and plastic Senko type worm, no bites on those. I'm not sure, but did you mention the water temperature where you were fishing?

Here in Ohio, I most consistent bites in heavy muddy water using double tail white trailers on a single 5/16 oz Colorado spinner. Also dropping down to a 1/4 let me fish it a lot slower keeping it in the strike zone longer with that thump seemed to be very affective as well.
Ps, the fish in my picture was actually caught on this very setup in muddy conditions. (But no wind on that day)
Knowing fish in muddy water like to stick close to heavy lay down I cast it as close as possible and let it fall with little twitches and pretty much work the spinner like a jig. Hope this helps.

Could not catch anything until I found clear water in a big cove just off the main channel. Used Ned rig on deep secondary point with rip rap. Toughest day of my life....considering it’s lake Norman.
