    Yes indeed, although they are not siblings, They are truly "SOUL-BROTHERS!!!" You guys said that their voices blend so well together and you are absolutely correct because their voices just go together like "peanut butter & jelly," "milk & cookies," "mac & cheese," "coffee & donuts," "fish & chips," "rice & beans," "burgers & fries," etc. you get the picture!!! Great reaction too!!! Love you guys, keep up the good work...

      Yeah it was after a show to African American soldiers (apparently they were one of a few white groups that were allowed and wanted to perform to some African American soldiers during segregation and one of them yelled “That’s righteous, brothers!”)

    • @Aurora-tp3dy
      @Aurora-tp3dy Рік тому +1

      @@kevinprzy4539 They were performing at a club in Southern California. Marines from the nearby El Toro Marine base would catch their act. At least one of them would shout out that's righteous, brothers during the show and would greet them saying how are you doing righteous brothers when passing them going into the venue. This went on for around 6 months. When they needed a name for a duo, as opposed to the group they were in, Bobby suggested they use the name the marines were calling them. Sooo, the Righteous Brothers were born. Oh, by the way, segregation had absolutely nothing to do with this.

    First, you must know the term "being Righteous" in the 60 vernacular meant you were a gift from God, perfection. It was used like the 70s term Cool. Second, this group was called The Paramours... until after a performance, a man of color walked up to them and told them... " You two sound just like two "Righteous" Brothers" Hence the term blue-eyed soul. I believe it was after playing at The Apollo Theater in NY. Check out their song written when they were 19 and still The Paramours. (Little Latin Lupe Lu). As they sing a dance name, the background girls switch to that dance move. At the end, The Righteous Brothers are doing A dance called The Swim. I love Little Latin Lupe Lu it is so lively and fun.

    I LOVE The Righteous Brothers! My Dad introduced me to them back when I was a baby.
    Bobby Hatfield was my first ever crush- and he was an old guy by that time- haha!
    Bill Medley is a bass- baritone and always thought his voice was "ugly" sounding. He always said that Bobby got the voice of an angel and he got the voice of a frog.
    Bobby Hatfield was a natural counter- tenor. Rarest of the rare amongst male singers.
    He actually gained two notes as he got older. Most singers voices weaken with age but his got stronger.
    Bill Medley is still alive, believe it or not.
    Bobby Hatfield died of a heart attack (due to prolonged use of cocaine) in 2003 in his hotel room the night he was due to perform with Bill.
    Bobby suffered from terrible stage fright and extreme shyness so, sadly, he turned to cocaine to help him get through live and tv performances.
    He was such a wreck before a performance he'd puke his guts out before going on stage.
    Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley would also each do a solo song on their albums.
    Solo live performance from Bobby Hatfield "Unchained Melody" The Andy Williams Show 1965 (Bobby is in a pink suit in the thumbnail).
    Solo audio only by Bill Medley: "Brown- Eyed Woman".
    There's actually a really cool story behind the latter.
    Finally: You reacted to The Righteous Brothers "You've Lost That Loving Feeling".
    Now you should seriously consider reacting to "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling" Elvis 1970 Las Vegas live.
    I love The Righteous Brothers, I do. But first time watching and hearing Elvis do the same song live... It's just different.
    HIGHLY recommend!
    LOVED this reaction 💖
    Take care & have a great day!

      I don't understand how anyone could think that Bill Medley's voice was ugly sounding, but out of the two, Bobby's voice was like no other. It is kind of like comparing diamonds to emeralds (or rubys) - very different, but both very good.

    • @sammy_the_uncool2702
      @sammy_the_uncool2702 Рік тому +1

      @@entropy2002 Agreed! Bobby Hatfield's voice was, and is, like no other. But that's not at all saying that Bill Medley's voice isn't also unique in its own way.

      Dang, the cocaine story has gotten out of control. He had stage fright so he took a stimulant to calm himself. WHAT?! Was that TRACE amount of cocaine actually there?? No illegal substances and no drug paraphernalia in his room, just Bobby peaceful in his bed. And, no he didn't have a heart attack from long-time use. He had the usual problems a lot of older guys do. He had high blood pressure and he needed by-pass surgery. I could go on, but you should get the point. One more thing, extreme shyness 🤦🏼‍♀️ He was a very out-going person.

    • @Firefyta2
      @Firefyta2 7 місяців тому

      Bill had and has an amazing voice, nothing ugly about his voice at all, very soothing yet upbeat. Check out how good he truly was in the song "I just want to make love to you". Bobby was unreal, he was a master at manipulating his voice, I think he even created new notes when he did the live version of Summertime. Together, they were unstoppable and were by far in my opinion the best male duo ever. Blue Eyed Soul at its absolute best!!

    This just proves that good music is timeless. I wish more people would open their hearts and minds up and listen to music not only from different genres, but different eras. There is so much fantastic music out there. As for the 60s...not only were the singers on point, but the back up singers are on point, and the band is on point. There is a song music critics call one of the most complete songs ever. "Raindrops" by I think Dee Clark. It's from around 1962. Another song that is on the list is Summertime by Sam Cooke. You will both love these songs. Sam is considered the father of soul and that song rolls in it. As to raindrops? Not only is the singing on point but the timing of the instrumentation is fantastic.

    Bobby Hatfield (the shorter of the two singers) died at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Kalamazoo, Michigan on November 5, 2003. He was found by sing companion Bill Medley and the Righteous Brothers' road manager Dusty Hanvey. A security guard let them into Hatfield's room after he had failed to show up at the concert venue when expected. He apparently died in his sleep, hours before a scheduled Righteous Brothers concert. The toxicology report concluded that cocaine use had precipitated a fatal heart attack.

    • @Aurora-tp3dy
      @Aurora-tp3dy Рік тому

      Wow, that trace amount of cocaine looms large in your mind. Bobby seriously needed bypass surgery. Without it, according to the medical examiner, he couldn't see him living through that month, November 2003. He was under doctor's care but just couldn't slow down.
