I'm disappointed to know that Crate have gone under. I think their stuff was great. The high-end tube amps were under rated, the Blue Voodoo was a JCM 800 on Mesa Rectifier steroids, and their low-end solid state amps were trashy-sounding in the best rock and roll way. RIP Crate.
I have the same amp. It's a great old made in the USA SS amp! I dig the 2 OD channels and the clean channel. The onboard distortion is pretty killer. The insert jack is useful as an effects loop once you figure out which is send/return on a y-cable. Glad the manual is online. Thanks for the demo vid!
This particular model has a memory bank that saves your effect settings separately for each channel. The only other amp from Crate that does this that I know of is The GT-80 DSP. That is pretty unique.
I just picked one up today its not only for metal players the amp itself is really good for country picking and blues just adjust the settings to your liking goes for both channels
How did you get this? Do you know when it was made? Also it says made in America on the speakers inside of mine. But I'm unsure if it means the amp was entirely built in the US or just the speakers
Randy Samba they don't make them anymore and the newer models sound like shit. That old GFX model was a special year for crate. You'll have to buy one used.
Get the right pedal and you can actually shred arpeggios and beyond through these. I own several from this model series along with a dozen other amps. This significantly outperforms my Boss Katana MII 50. It's a very plain amp in features, but for metal or even classic hard rock, *these things are monsters.*
amp is ass needs a lot of repairs and is not very mobile on top of that it just sounds like a dumpster full of babies rolling down stairs it also has issues when you turn it on where it won’t give you any sound until you turn it all the way up and actually make it “explode” and then have to quickly turn it down before you dad comes to beat you for setting off a bomb
It's definitely not the best sounding amp in the world. I've since bought myself a couple Marshall's. But you can still get some really nice tones out of it
The older crates sounded so much better than the new ones.

It wasn't because of low sales but because mismanagement.
The RTRY sounds rlly nice, amazing amp. Yes it's for metal player's

Crates, like Peavey, are only good the years they used the blue and grey fonts. Those are awesome and I love'em.
I have one of the originals from the 1990's. It's only been gigged a few times, but it's still a great "thrifty" amp for the budget minded.

Good review man..was hoping to hear more metal to get a better perspective but sounded great with the distortion

I still have mine from 2001... :)

You get a nice response from that crate kid .....
Great demo! thanks!
What I want to know is the proper Jack so I can use my headphones while I’m playing
There is no headphone jack on this amp
i got that shit bro. nice playing!
What songs were you playing on the octave setting?
I think one of them is a 311 song
It looks one you've strung a left handed guitar so you can play it right handed. That true?
Body is a right the neck is a lefty
Just a reverse headstock
Looks like a squire stagemaster
RTRY=Rotary speaker emulation
I don't have the footswitch for this. Would anyone recommend using a generic 3 button switch? I can get one pretty cheap on Amazon.
RTRY is rotary
where can I find it online? there seems to be some that look like that one but are different

i see them on the used market. stuff like offerup, facebook marketplace, or letgo.
Try some hand muting and or palming.
..not a modeling amp

Sounds like you either don't know how to use it or maybe your amp is just broke

Out of tune to start, add harmonics & reverb@
Tim Mahoney rocks!
