  • Just my thoughts of WHY the Daytona/Ormand Loop Scenic trail has been flooding more & more. The building in Florida has been nonstop, just plain crazy! The even bigger problem is causing a insane increase to the house and auto Insurance. If you are moving to Florida, Please do your Homework!! Make sure that your not building in a area that was previously a swamp! Make sure that you house is not below the street grade, or that your house is at a lower grade then your neighbors( look up Palm Harbor neighborhood in Flagler Co. building issues on other UA-cam videos). And last but not least, make sure you can get/afford Insurance, the cost for your house, car, motorcycle, & RV(trust me, they all have gone up!!)

You just described the history of Florida. Swampland magically transformed into valuable real estate subject to episodic flooding. Those retention ponds are dug to get fill to raise the ground where the houses are. You can see the houses are a minimal height above the normal water table, so they will flood in every major storm for sure. Most state governments wouldn't allow building in a hazard area, but Florida is so corrupt (especially to real estate corporations) its people trying to buy that starter home who are the victims.

@@ninehundreddollarluxuryyac5958 Thanks for watching & checking out my channel. What we see is blatantly obvious to me & you, but to all the developers & local/state officials , they just see $$$! It’s terrible that to see this happening. Unfortunately it’s impacting other communities to flooding as well! It Sucks that no one seems willing to step up to stop this over development of the state. , & now there is talk about developing golf/hotel resorts on our state campgrounds. Just Stinks!!!

I've been living in Melbourne Florida since 1969, and I can confirm your claims 100%. The state & local govt's are allowing these greedy land developers to hastily construct housing developments with VERY LITTLE thought & consideration to WHERE all of the rain run-off is going to go ( not to mention all of the fertilizers used ), after they bring in all of the fill dirt to raise the elevation for building all of these sub-divisions. They should be legally FORCED to dig FAR MORE retention ponds & lakes that are quite deep, in and around every subdivision, and also force them to install pumps in every water body, which uses water from each pond/lake itself to be used as fountains, which will keep those water bodies from becoming stagnant & minimizes weed growth & algae. The HOA fees could pay for running & maintaining those pumps. Decades ago, if you dug a pond over a certain size, it was the law that you HAD TO stock that pond with native species of fish.......namely bass & bluegill. But I'm told the state changed that law. If they got back to doing that along with all of the above, the flooding would be greatly reduced and would even create more & better freshwater fishing opportunities. But as of right now, they're only digging a bare minimum of these retention ponds, and they are quite shallow. GREED is rapidly destroying Florida. They should also make it ILLEGAL to sod the yards of all these new homes with grass that requires "DAILY WATERING" and force them to plant native grasses & plants that DON'T require so much watering. All of this watering & fertilizers are destroying Florida's precious aquifer & river systems too. They should also be forced to leave areas of trees & other natural vegetation in and around every subdivision.

& I agree 100% with you as well!! I’m glad to hear others agree with me on this subject. I mention it to others in conversation & people say it’s not that bad, Bull$*€t!! It’s costing everyone more money each & every year in insurance & taxes that this goes on! It’s ironic you mention that grass, take a look at the Villages south of Ocala, all St Augustine grass yards ( which takes tons of water & fertilizer to maintain). Florida is definitely changing & not so much for the better!! Thanks so much for watching my video, checking out my channel & commenting!! Springer

When I was in High School, around 1981-82, my History Teacher told me a good part of Florida would be under water in 50 years. I forget what he said the reason was, but I guess we only have 6-7years left. Lol
