    00:48 - here's a sight you've probably seen many times - a police car driving past, lights flashing, siren wailing
    Often wondered where it's going to?
    My mum once said "all units back to base, tea is brewing"

    Man, things were very, very different during the time my parents grew up in, compared to the times nowadays.

    Kansas City has changed a lot, but I recognize every area in the video. At least KCPD doesn't have those old brown uniforms anymore...

      I have never been to KC, but I googled the name of the streets where the said Jeter market was, and I think I found it on google maps! The market is now studio 53 and a physical therapy place? The building looks almost identical to the video! Especially the red tiled roof.

    That light bar set up is quite a rare one on the cop car.

    Contrary to what the narrator stated, the slang police term 'cop' derives from an acronym for the phrase 'constable on patrol.'

    • @rapman5363
      @rapman5363 3 роки тому

      That is nothing but conjecture. There are several different trains of thought on the origins of the word cop. Constable on patrol is probably the least agreed upon version of the term.

    KCMO has Dodge Aspen's as patrol cars, oh I feel sorry for them. My parents had a Aspen for about 2 months in 1977, it was such a hunk of junk they brought it back for a trade.

    I'm trying to figure out where the green truck was pulled over given where the majority of this was filmed possibly brook side/Waldo. The van at the end looks like it was coming from ward parkway or mission hills lol

      I don't know how many departments adapted "civilian" models, But Honda themselves DID make a Police Special version of the CB750: www.digitalpizza.com/single-post/2015/11/11/1970-CB750-Police-Special

      I'm only to the four minute mark, but I got two things:
      1) The shot with the motorcycle zipping by city scape is awesome and eerie to see in old timie footage.
      2) He was driving, one handed, and probably speeding to the site of the collision.

    Interesting video, like a pre cops episode. But video cameras back in this day were as big as those old Panavision movie cameras. All these scenes have to be staged...

    • @JULYXXIV
      @JULYXXIV 7 років тому +2

      bkjbearcat78 1982-1983, I believe. It was during the tenure of Chief Norman Caron. They were still in brown for the Hyatt incident of July 1981.

    The cop's not following AHA procedures in CPR. He's supposed to assess the airway, ventilate the victim then assess the pulse before giving CPR. That's my understanding of what I saw of the procedures used back then. Oddly, other than spending so much time assessing pupilary reaction and pulse, he did one thing right; compressions first (current procedure).

    I didn't know the police in KCMO had brown shirts, I thought they'd always had the light blue shirts, I can trace that back to about 1990 or so from what I saw on COPS and I thought they was light blue all along. Maybe they'd just phazed out the brown uniforms when COPS showed them.

    • @paxhumana2015
      @paxhumana2015 8 років тому

      +PolizeiPaul , or maybe the video is old and the color had faded out?

    • @JULYXXIV
      @JULYXXIV 8 років тому +1

      They switched them out in 1982-1983, I believe. It was done under Chief Norman Caron who was Chief at the time this video was shot.
