The Shatter Me series is a fast read and the writing (in the first one, especially) is lyrical and lovely. It's actually one of my favorite series, and I'm well past the intended age demographic, lol. As another option, the audiobook narrator does a great job. I love the way she performs the dialogue between Juliette and a character named Kenji!

I second two of those... Shatter Me and Assassins Blade. Shatter Me is a great series and honestly, one you can take your time with if you're anxious about starting a big series. It's pretty rememberable if you do end up taking a short break between books. And DEF start with Assassins Blade! I started the series with Assassins Blade and I would not start the series any other way. You get a much better idea of who the MC is and what her motivations are in AB. I don't think I would have had a good understanding if I had jumped directly into ToG. To me, AB is the start of the series.

There are six main books and five small novellas. I will be honest, I read the six books first and then I went back and read the novellas after learning more about them. I really enjoyed them. I hope you love the Shatter Me series! My favorite book is Ignite Me.
