Makes me feel very, very old. I remember a lot of these as they were in the "then" photos. 😁

At 0:36 the block of what appear to be four storey houses were actually "over & under" houses, the bottom two floors being four two-storey houses with another four stacked on top. That block was called Green Syke, (now the site of a single bungalow) & the top houses were accessed by a flight of stone stairs at the far end between the still standing Woodbine Place and Green Syke.
My granny, Mary Shaw, lived in one of the upper middle ones, and I remember looking through the window behind the lamp post, watching the frequent (steam powered) coal trains go by on the railway opposite. Next door were the Mackrill family. One of the girls (Susan) is now a neighbour in Sowerby Bridge !
The "shed" on the side of the house on the left was actually the entrance door. A fellow named Stanley Bottomley & his wife lived there & he kept poultry behind the houses.

Absolutely brilliant. I grew up here 40 years ago. I can't believe how much it's changed just in my time. Great video. Well put together. And more like this please.

All those homes and shops that have disappeared in the name of progress I am sure the majority could have been modernised. Interesting film thanks. 😊

I grew up there in the 50's and 60's and what changes....so many houses have gone...including our old house on Foster Lane, where I think I saw our washing hanging out in the then shot!

This a great channel I just discovered today and this slide show was so captivating, so many changes and some magnificent buildings unfortunately lost to time (and wear and tear), though fortunately many have survived that gives us a historical heritage to look back on and appreciate. Cheers.

@@NigglePics Yes, was watching the two former railway station videos you have done (Eastwood, Luddenden, Halifax). All areas I've walked before but didn't quite realise how much more was once there including those coal shoots at Eastwood. Look forward to seeing what videos you put up here in the future. Cheers and ATB Nick.
