A very simple, but pretty solid game. being stated that it's found footage and stating the police was only giving out some of the footage was a nice way to give a reason for odd cuts but also give the dev a way to hide possible limitations they had with the game.
I like any game which builds dread in me without active enemies or jump scares and this game did that effectively. Also, the story piqued my interest--I want to know more about the moon and the "ascension"--and I appreciate the well-written narrative, especially by a dev for whom English is a SL. Muito bem, Bruno! 😊
I loved their use of low rumbling in the background - really added to that feeling of discomfort. Also, I can't tell you how much I appreciate it when you do the little things like close the fridge door before you exit the room 😂
As soon as he said "Brazil" I was surprised, this is my country and I didn't expect it to be mentioned in this game. The link in the description says it was made by a Brazilian university student, in two months, for his undergraduate dissertation in progress, and I hope that many other Brazilian university students, or non-university students, continue to make games as good or better than this one. It's good to see that Brazilian developed a game with the potential and that was played by my favorite youtuber from another country.
Enjoyed playing through this one myself. Kept trying to get my guy to stop looking at the moon! Pretty cool how we're seeing more students do these kinds of projects.
I remember windows 97 lol. Now I'm 37 and watching another grown man play video games on my phone that's 1000 times faster than that computer lol. Life, am I right?
And we've got a main character who's got the sense to bring a flashlight before diving into an investigation. Enough sense that the game won't let you leave the car 'til you grabbed it first. XD Overall, I liked this. For a game where you just walk around, and didn't involve any jumpscares or picking items up, it nailed what it was going for. When you're expecting to be grabbed, but there's nothing there --- that's when you know that the atmosphere is getting to you.
Wow, that was very psychedelic, especially that song played in the background when the surronudings are unnerving. It kinda reminded me of Blair Witch Project - the VHS effect, cut-offs and a lying down perspective. Really disturbing. Than you for playing that one, it's always a pleasure to watch your gameplays.
This was really nice and I like how the dev used the fact that the footage we play(in universe the footage we are shown) is choosen by the police who have the full footage. Smart way to implement scares and move us to different floors. Makes me think of the Leftovers and that's not a bad thing.
My favourite thing here was this constant "jumps" in time to make it really looked like a founded mysterious tapes of some sort. And I do have a good memory of summer '98 and I don't recall any moon killers... Well, probably I have slept over it and didn't noticed...
What an amazing little game! The constant rumbling was unsettling, and every time you opened up a cabinet or something I felt so nervous haha. The claustrophobic sections were very uncomfortable, and I liked the parts where you had to go around an object to see the other side (TVs, open doors, etc.), it really builds up tension.
Okay, I normally get bored of fake-outs, but the one with the robes on the stands was so well done, I couldn't not be impressed. The combination of the mood, tension and ambience leading up to seeing those vague figures in the dark, through the camera filter, was really effective, and unsettling.
I really liked the atmosphere, but I think it could have been scarier with just a little touch of "something" more. Maybe a threat, or even 1 or 2 jumpscares.
I really like that you explore the place thoroughly, just in case you might find something, even though at times, might be fruitless, as you said, but yeah still. Actually, this goes to all the games you played so far! Plus, this thorough exploration also would make the developers appreciate more that the little details that they have put into, sometimes painstakingly in creating the game set doesn't go unnoticed
Loved the game and your gameplay. Really gave me flashbacks to the Local 58 stuff, especially when you looked at the moon and heard numerous distant screams.
The moon's gravational pull affects the seas and women. That may be why Claudia had a more esoteric attitude toward the event and the male was driven mad. When I was in grade school there was simple symbol boys used to draw as grafitti that represented a certain part of a woman's anatomy. Those symbols on the wall looked very familiar. I think the guy took their cult to a simplistic dark place.
I wonder, when the person who found the tape returned it to the relevant authorities, did the people who viewed it wonder why this person who got abducted was so interested in seeing what was under the toilet lid in every single cubicle. That's why only certain segments were released to the public. They had to edit out the long parts where this guy started taking notes of what he found inside them.
Those bodies on the mattresses reminded me of the police evidence video showing the bodies of the members of the Heaven's Gate cult who'd ended their own lives. They were lying in bunk beds and were covered with a black blanket. Their feet, in a pair of black Nike tennis shoes, were sticking out of the bottom. The group believed they would ascend to heaven in a UFO spaceship where their consciousness would be transferred into new bodies.
I love the game. Simple but very good. I also LOVE the fact that you now have a Patreon!! I'll definitely support you when I can because I think you deserve it. 😁👍
Hi, CJUGames! Your channel is very good. Congratulations ! Could you suggest me about these games you've posted on your channel, games that have some way to kill enemies? I don't like the game of just looking, hiding, solving puzzles...Thank you for your help now.
Love this game, hate the text in the beginning and throughout the game. It's an eye killer for sure lol. These VHS fx are always so over exaggerated. Video didn't look that shit in 1998 😂
So this Ascension was simply too mundane and mediocre for the one member and he decided to spice things up with kidnappings and sacrefices between their moon phases? And Claudia waited so long but it seems she missed out. I wonder if their moon passed judgement and left the whacko behind?
I loved it, there was a great creepy atmosphere. BUT all these "games"--are they even games? When there is one path and no actual puzzles or challenges, just a straight line through a narrative, is it even a game or an interactive story?
I wonder if one day you'll find a note in the toilet that says CJUs favourite hiding place. That's what I would do if I knew how to make games. Also I'm gay but this VHS filter sucks more than I do
I was hoping to see some more Brazilian references but to my surprise, besides the names, nothing. Maybe the song that plays in it, if it was in Portuguese it would be nice. Interesting game.
This dev did a GREAT job. I love how there weren’t any cheap jump scares and it was still scary!
It wasn't. Your imagination made it so.

As a Brazilian, I am happy to see such a good Brazilian game around here!

This is a nice little game! Makes good use of all its features.
I felt like the story has some "Heaven's Gate" touches.
I thought so too.
Enjoyed playing through this one myself. Kept trying to get my guy to stop looking at the moon! Pretty cool how we're seeing more students do these kinds of projects.

I'm 40 and my first computer was an Apple II-GS, LIFE is an understatement! You are definitely Right, my friend.
"Look at The Moon"
Is this a Local 58 fangame?
I wish they’d start uploading again 😢
@Fruiteus Fly Yeah...it's similar to the last video he posted. Perhaps Kris Straub has "ascended"? lol
@Tj Marz Thanks for the tip. I just watched the "Christmas Eve Party" video. Eeeeeeeew--creepy!
@Tj Marz love it

Was not expecting a reference to a Von Trier film right in the middle of this playthrough, but I see now that CJU is a man of culture.

This was really good. The unnerving atmosphere, music and sounds. The threat of the unknown. The Developers have nailed the horror in this.
Yep...this one's a winner. I like the feeling I get with it, and if it could ever be expanded on, it might prove to be a great, full-length game.
Cju: "I think I'm going to go missing pretty soon"
UA-cam: *crashes*
did it crash
@@adenentertainment7365 yeah was watching on Chromecast ultra and it just randomly stopped 😂 perfect timing
Very impressive.
It could be an super cool reveal, if the camera turned out to have been used by different people at different times.
My favourite thing here was this constant "jumps" in time to make it really looked like a founded mysterious tapes of some sort.
And I do have a good memory of summer '98 and I don't recall any moon killers... Well, probably I have slept over it and didn't noticed...
This was very unsettling without relying on cheap jumpscares. I really enjoyed it.

Your fascination with toilets is both hilarious and a tad troubling 😂

Agreed it literally gave me chills when I realized they were fake that was somehow way scarier
I really liked the atmosphere, but I think it could have been scarier with just a little touch of "something" more. Maybe a threat, or even 1 or 2 jumpscares.
Love to watch your opinion/description of the game at the end of each video .. it hits the nail on the head every time
I love the grainy footage and vhs time stamp look of this one
Nice, I also just played this game today, it was really good!
"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's c'thulu"
Thought that was battery?
Very entertaining. Thank you for playing, CJU!
This one was good. It had an oppressive air without going too overboard. It really did a lot with what it had.
I really like that you explore the place thoroughly, just in case you might find something, even though at times, might be fruitless, as you said, but yeah still. OMG! I live in south of Brazil. 😲

I agree it would of been even better with a lil more backstory
Very interesting material! No jumpscares but still really frightening! I like it
Always come back to this one from time to time, just really like it.
I wonder if this was Local 58 TV inspired. The VHS filter and the moon being the enemy in a sense gives me major Local 58 vibes
Interactive toilets in any way automatically gives a game an extra point in my book. Same with reflections in mirrors.
That was quite unnerving..i liked it
I wonder, when the person who found the tape returned it to the relevant authorities, did the people who viewed it wonder why this person who got abducted was so interested in seeing what was under the toilet lid in every single cubicle.
That's why only certain segments were released to the public. They had to edit out the long parts where this guy started taking notes of what he found inside them.
What is it about VHS film grain that makes things so creepy? What's the logic behind it?
Verisimilitude!!
@@caseygoddard This is true

that room with the robes was right when my dread set in 😢
me the whole time: what in the heaven's gate hell
Did anyone else experience ASMR from the vibration tones in the last couple of minutes??
They did a great job of making everything feel unnerving.
CJU: "Well, it's still nice that I can interact with the toilets..."
Me: "I agree...especially after drinking three cups of coffee."
Ooo a long video, a treat today!
I LOVE these daily uploads! Thank you Chris for being consistent and loving us enough to give us so much content!!!
The game was sweet but I've never been a fan of heavy VHS filters. Enjoyed watching though 👌
Damn! I really hate the VHS style games.
But i will say that little tune at the opening was nice.
I wonder if this was inspired by Local 58. Pretty cool.
Btw the time and date is worth to be tamper with more, like making it stop, or jump between yrs or something like that
The moon thing reminds me of that found footage radio station episodic series on UA-cam
Ooh, well made I think. I like that it's different from the usual indie horror.
This was very original. 😌 I enjoyed it.
"Praise the Moon!" Should those cultists/Night Elf rejects be called "Lunaires" then?
I saw there an old soviet fridge ZilMoskva (ЗилМосква)! How can it be at an university in the south of Brazil?
Always feeling better when I know Chris has uploaded something new and lengthy 💖
I love the game. Simple but very good. I also LOVE the fact that you now have a Patreon!! I'll definitely support you when I can because I think you deserve it. 😁👍
Lockers that you cannot hide in!
this gives me major "locked up" vibes, the full game not the demo

Damn VHS filter making me wonder if I need glasses
You should play Duke nukem you can actually pee in the toilet
Yehey A new Game again 😍😍 Thank you Cju 😍❤
is it same developper as the "riveside incident" but with another name ?
Subbing because you are one of the few who dont use an annoying webcam
Had to stop the video when he saw that hole in the wall
This is extremely creepy, I'm hiding in the comments again especially when the lights were flashing in the bathroom hell naw
What is most scary about a horror game is your imagination.
So this Ascension was simply too mundane and mediocre for the one member and he decided to spice things up with kidnappings and sacrefices between their moon phases? And Claudia waited so long but it seems she missed out.

When you choose to aggressively study a pre-FTL civilization
Just played it. I like it. Good game. it's different.
Nice game if it wasnt for the tape filter
Great short and humble

Sweet Lord that VHS filter is obnoxious and awful.
Scary!
Brother moon is awake
Good game, the vhs filter was a bit much
does anyone know the song that plays at the start?

Hi. Anybody knows the title of the intro song?
Aug 8th is my birthday... 😳
Local 58 involved with the making of this game
0:38 music?
I was hoping to see some more Brazilian references but to my surprise, besides the names, nothing. Maybe the song that plays in it, if it was in Portuguese it would be nice. Interesting game.
very weird did not really like the vhs scenery but it was good that is like the apocolapse cult stuff
Ah yes, UA-cam, another "Five Nights at Freddy's" game. Marvelous.
At first I didn't know what in the world you were talking about. Yes, this was definitely one of my favorite FNAF levels.
So curious what kind of games your girlfriend (?) likes to play. I’m always peaking the computer in the background
Think they need a few more filters over the text
Big fan bro love from india
Provocative premise!
Blair Witch vibes.
Good playthru. Unfortunately, the VHS effect was a no-brainer. As in, whoever decided the effect was a good idea, has none!
its good.
