Hello, I recorded some titanium test cutting. It is just a bunch of short clips testing different toolpaths and speeds and feeds.
When slotting i used a 3mm endmill, spindle rpm 7200, cutting dept 0.1mm, feedrate 220mm/min. (This worked good so I think I can increase the depth of cut)
When using the 2d adaptive clearing I used a stepover of 10% (0.3mm) and a feedrate betweeen 500mm/min - 2000mm/min. Spindle speed was around 8500 rpm.
When using the pocket toolpath I tried 200-1000mm/min in feedrate and a stepover between 0.05mm-0.2mm. Did try booth 3mm and a 4mm endmill. Booth worked fine. Also tried cutting depths between 0.05mm-0.2mm. To get a good finish I went with 0.05mm depth of cut and a 2mm stepover, feedrate was perhaps around 400mm/min.

The titanium cutting went better than expected. But I dont think it would have been possible without the flood coolant kit. :) thank you very much for commenting :)

Thx for commenting. I like my router to. 😀 it took some time to rebuild it, but now I can cut all the materials I want.

    Hi chip welder,
I do have two questions and was hoping you could help me. I am using hybrid stepper motors but
I noticed that the cable attached to my motors is not insulated with metal but is insulated with a fine white cloth material, does this matter? I've watched a video in the past and they said the signals could damage the drives, is this true? it doesn't seem to be interfering with the program run. Hopefully you can help me gain knowledge.

nice work man! cards holder prototype?

    • @thechipwelder1253

Yes! I have been looking at ridge titanium and carbon fiber cardholders.
Very nice cardholders, but they cost ~100 bucks.
I would like to bring some good quality cardholders made out of premium materials like titanium or carbon fiber to the market. But to a more affordable price. I should be able to sell them for 50-60 bucks with a small profit. This first one will just be for myself. But if I will attempt to sell some, I think I need to tweak the design a little bit so I dont get sued by the guys behind ridge wallets or anything like that.
I think they would sell good, will make a small youtube series called lets try micro manufacturing were I will show the cost and also if it was possible to sell them on ebay / amazon. A large problem is that they companies mentioned above seem to take ~10% of the sale in fee. That is not good when trying to keep the cost low.
So perhaps, sending some cardholders for a "pass around" to different UA-camrs interested in edc stuff and then setting up a webshop might be the best way to go.
To bad it is so expensive to sell on ebay and amazon, I honestly did not expect. No wonder that guy behind amazon is super rich. Thx for commenting and sorry about my long reply, but I am pretty motivated to start making some batches of these ones. :)

@@thechipwelder1253 I think it's a great idea. Plus cards holder always sell good moreover close to Christmas. For the fees on Amazon and ebay. I sold on Amzon for a couple of years. The only way is to store product on your own and the fees will decrease but the 10% profit it's still not possible. You need more profit to be able to sell in that platform. EBay is a bit better but still expensive. You have followers so better to make a website and sell it like that. Also Becuase large production is not your purpose. I will follow it for sure. Good luck!

Which is the best CNC Controller for Diy Milling machine

    • @thechipwelder1253
      @thechipwelder1253  4 роки тому +1

Hello! I have not tried Linux cnc but from what I read so far I think a Linux cnc controller is the best one for a diy milling machine. I currently use an nvum /nvem ethernet controller from novusun. That one is working very good. I did use the usb version earlier but I experienced some issues with usb. Ethernet is a bit more expensive but it is worth it in my opinion. Masso and centroid are also two interesting controllers. They are a bit to expensive for me though. Thx for watching and commenting! :)

Seems work holding is your biggest problem. Perhaps use double sided tape or super glue to mount the piece to a backing plate.?
