Wow that's awesome what a grade bump... I had a GI Joe #1cgc 8.0 the book was so dirty and so many spine ticks and creases I cracked it open and cleaned it pressed it got rid of most of the spine ticks it looked beautiful it came back 7.5 I couldn't believe it lol...
I love your channel, man! I would kill to have the knowledge, resources, patience and tenacity to Improve my books like you do. I suppose you have to start somewhere, it just seems like you’ve become a master cleaner/presser/whitener in such a short amount of time. Great work as always! I’d love to be able to send my books to you. I have a guy who does a good job, but is not nearly as meticulous as you. Anyway. All the best! Keep making the vids, you have a great personality and love for the hobby! Cheers!
The thing thats most impressive to me is your dexterity while wearing those gloves! I'm missing a finger on my dominant hand and it seems to give me all thumbs sometimes! 😆 Awesome as usual video!
What is the benefit or purpose for sending the labels off after you crack a slab? Where do you send them as well? Another great video. I'm always happy when I get notified for a new video from you. Also I hope that you and your family had a happy Thanksgiving. We did.
I did that on the first couple in the series, I thought it might be a bit redundant for those watching it. I'll go into more detail on the next one, sorry about that!
@@shannonbuff587 Understood, sorry about that! Check out episode #1 here: ua-cam.com/video/Dq71iGSKHoM/v-deo.html Also, the materials I use are on my website: improvecollecting.com
Big fan of the channel. Would you be willing to do a CPR on my Hulk #182? I originally sent it out to a third party pressor and that was a complete waste of time and money. I was going to dry clean the book myself and have CGC press it and regrade it but seeing you do a video on my book would be awesome. Let me know if your interested on the picking up this commission. Thanks
Wow...I was thinking the same. Same book too. I had it in my collection in good condition since 1990. Picked up from my comic shop at the time. Around 2004 I got back into comics and learned about cgc from my LCS. I submitted that and Submariner #1 and to my surprise, received grades that made me unhappy. My Submariner received a 7.0 when it looks more like a 9.0. Hulk received 5.0 when it looks to be in the range of 7.5 -8.5. I love these books and don't trust them to anyone. Seeing your work has made me think of reaching out to you. I too wasted my time with a 3rd party presser. Book looks the same...like he took the money and cleaned not pressed.
I didn't have any sound on a lot of the video showing the process, the first parts of the series had a lot more of that. I will make sure I add back in more of that in the next one, but was rushed for time to get this uploaded before I left for the holiday. Sorry about that!
Whiting a cover is a restoration technique. If cgc sees what you did the label will reflect it. You should be letting people know and not be hiding it from clients or followers.
Hiding what? It’s a option anyone can do and use. If it’s restoration that’s detectable is where it should be notated. Adding paper pulp to a book. Making new staple holes. Using bleach those are changing a book. Using a eraser removes existing dirt, removal of tape. Why is adding a light considered in your eyes a restoration technique but using a eraser and pressing wrinkles out not. Your comment has caught my interest as a clean and presser myself.
ask a cgc/ cbcs ,research paper bleaching with lights . This is a old process used in photography , to remove stains from old photos. it's paper conservation /restoration. Very hard to detect , but either way if they miss it or not it's restoration. Good luck in your process.
I also believe there is a reason companies such as cfp, ccs, impressive , avery, and a few others do not using this technique as far as I am aware of , but if you contact them I would think any of them would talk to you about it.
@@comiccompany1470 using lights shouldn’t be a issue. Adding bleach is now a chemical change that’s down a different rabbit hole. I started chemically changing yellowing plastics from older games and toys. I’ve also added uv light to a comic to help with pulling out yellow that off gassing caused. I also back out staples and wash my covers from a comic too with distilled water to have stains wash out or fade away. What I do to my comics I have yet ever seen a restored label show up on 100s of books that I took my time to help clean and preserve. You saying everything I’ve done hurts the books? Over time I learn better techniques and safer ways to improve paper. That’s it. I’ll talk to anyone who’s interested. If it’s detectable let me know.

I love that you actually send all the labels back. I wish more people would do that to keep the census honest
That's an amazing grade bump! Congratulations.
Thanks Sam!
You got that cleaning and pressing down
You've gotten really good with your cleaning and pressing process. You have been getting extremely good grade bumps with your books.
Thank you so much!

he does it again! seeing this start to finish with a final grade makes these video's very satisfying. Nice job on the series!
Thanks again!
Excellent job on that book. A great book to have even though I think the cover is pretty silly.
I am loving watching your comic cpr stuff. Love seeing you give extra love to these books!
Thanks so much!

If the creases are color breaking your capped.
Nice! Ii looked a 9.0+ just from your last inspection.
Another great instance of your CPR skills - nice!!
Hi David, and thanks!
A Newstand as well, plus, it's a good thing you were wearing your blue Booger gloves, lol.
For sure! lol

Thanks! And I wish I had time to do everyone's books :)
Congrats!

Thanks! It definitely takes some practice!
Wow a 6 point grade bump, just awesome
Still can't believe it! Thanks!
That book looks amazing! Your videos are always informative and helpful.
Glad to help and thanks!
Good work👍
Amazing work again
Thank you so much 😀
I will say that during your time lapse a little Barry White in the background would be nice! 🤣
LOL I tried adding some "royalty free" music before and still had copywrite claims, so for now.. no music

Its sent back to cgc to get that book removed from the census
@@shannonbuff587 Makes sense. Thank you so much. Dunno why I didn't figure that out.
brilliant
Awesome stuff man! Just subbed
Awesome thank you!
Winning!
I really like that one can see through the teflon sheets. Can you say which brand that is?
It's made by Uline, as suggested by KaptainMyke. The exact link is on my website, improvecollecting.com/
Today i just got a 3.5 of this book you did an awesome job on this book though.
It's a great book in any condition!
@@ImproveCollectingComics yeah
Did you humidify the book before the BLED treatment? And if you did, did you use peroxide? Or, did you just throw the book under the lights?
No humidity, some spot moisture before the press (Spot HOP). I did use heavily diluted peroxide on a couple of the treatments
What is the small iron that you use?
ya I'm wondering too, I have most recommended tools now, but this is the last big one of the kit.
Freeze framed it. Is it the Hangar 9 ProTrim Sealing Tool?
Yes, the hangar 9.. the link is on my home page improvecollecting.com but I think they are sold out at the moment
Nice video. It would be informative if you would say what you are doing while you were doing something to the comic

@@ImproveCollectingComics I said that because I didn't know what materials you was using during the video

When you do the whitening do you wet it? I would like to set a box up to try it but do not have a press for after. Just getting inot it
I follow KaptainMyke's book exactly. It's either distilled water or heavily diluted H202. It depends on the nature of the defect
