- If you have ever come across a Punkin Chunkin competition, you have seen that people come up with all sorts of crazy ways to destroy pumpkins once they've served their decorative purpose for Halloween. Our preferred method is to pump them full of lead.

Made in America, Or Not Made At All.
Really nice video. The .44 and .45-70 are very similar. I just acquired one of the new side-gate Big Boys in .38/.357 magnum and finished in CCH. At 100-yards, it packs a very similar punch. I chose it because of the availability/relatively acceptable pricing of the ammo. Given the 20" barrel with 1:16 twist, the .38+p load is not very far from the .357 magnum, depending of course on the loads. End of day, they're all Henry products. The smooth action, the octagonal barrel, the furniture all say American Made! Really find them outstanding. Thank you to Henry for staying American made.
I'm so proud to be part of the Henry Family! 45-70 Gang!
I want the 45-70 single shot
That's what I love about larger calibers, when you hit 🎯 something it knows it's been hit. Great video I enjoyed it.
PS; my choice 45-70 that's nice!!!
Don't need a scope to see if you've hit it when the hole is the size of a baseball!
👍.....😆🤣😂
"it knows it's been hit" 😆🤣👍
I love my 45-70, thanks for the fun video
Hey Cody,
Great video! You inspired me to purchase the Henry Big Boy Steel side gate carbine in 44 magnum. Legal to use in my area for deer hunting. It's light, easy to handle and powerful. Keep up the videos Brother! Tell Jeremy, Dan says hello. Best of luck to you guys.
Smoked them Pumpkins!! .44 mag. and .45-70. -. Massive destruction!! Hell yeah!!
Great video and Love to see the 45-70gov't in action all the time
Sometimes it's just about fun. I love my Henry's, but my favorite one's are the cch rifle's. I even like my revolver's that way! Have a great day my 2A brother's and sister's!
Color Case Hardening is one of our favorites as well. Fits so well with a lever action.
Great comparison between the 44 mag and 45-70. I do not have any pumpkins, but I will try to see what my 44 mag and 45-70 will do to 2 liter bottles filled with water and capped.
Punkin’ huntin’ is just too much fun
Great Video and I have owned both Calibers.Love that 45/70 here in my Virginia mountains its great on Deer and Bear. But that being said I bought the Henry Big Boy Case Hardened in 44 magnum with the 20 inch Barrel.Am also shooting the Federal Hammerdown ammo that you shot the Pumpkins with and it really did a great Job on those.Love the Videos you all make they are fun and also informative.Good luck Hunting this Season.
I was out all day today with my Henry .410 lever action, fillin my bag with squirrels. Life is good. By the way, nice job on those pumpkins. The deer and squirrels will enjoy them. Be well, and God bless.
My Aunt Eve use to cook up squirrels into a stew my Uncle Bob would bag, it was like like eating rat meat! Talk about gamey, it's been close to 55 years since that experience & the thought of eating squirrel stew I still find revolting to this day, LOL!
Bill on the Hill... :~)
One of these years I want to get a Henry repeater. I'm not a hunter, but it looks fun to shoot...
Great video. When shooting pumpkins, one needs to make a small hole in the top and fill it with water. Waaaay more entertaining, but hard to preserve entrance and exit holes. They all look the same.
Love ya Cody...and Your precious Family!....I have both calibers in Henry.....Next year a suggestion for the larger pumpkins....core out the top stem and fill them with water tinted with simple food coloring before you shoot them. Dried out pumpkins dont explode as spectacularly !
Cool rifles 😎
I have the 44 color case side gate. That was the first rifle that I ever shot. Took my smith 44 mag and three boxes of ammo to the range.
I haven’t seen any centerfire Henry’s in over a year now. Would love to have a Big Boy in 44 Mag.
I gotta get a 44 magnum Henry Rifle for my collection !!!!!!!!!!!! Two thumbs way Up !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really want a 45-70 for Christmas and have looked around at our local dealers. Sold out everywhere but the 44 magnum and 357 are available. Trying to figure out which one or wait. Thanks for the video
Love my 44mag Henry Big Boy Steel carbine
Cody, enjoyed watching, looks like a ton of fun! I have 2 Henry's would like to get more. It's a little hard to find the Federal Hammer Down, but I know it was designed with the Henry in mind.
And the moral of the story... A pew will make a pumpkin spew.
I love my Henry's and I wanted to get another one this past summer, but my FFL has not been able to get any for more than a year. He did get 2 H001's but nothing else and I am looking for centerfire models.
My next gun will be the 44 magnum lever gun. I have a Ruger Redhawk 44 magnum that i have used in competition at distances of 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards.
Great video! Can you please tell me can the 44 magnum bullet be used in both the Henry and a handgun? Another question is can you tell me what is the hunting distance for the 45+70 bullet?
The 44 mag can be used in several revolvers such as a S&W629 or Colt Anaconda if you can find them. They will have quite a bit of recoil at the bullet weight used in the video though.
Looked like a fun day shooting pumpkins to me, no watermelons?
Bill on the Hill... :~)
Awesome :-)
Hec with the science this was perfect for the hunter
Man i gotta get a Henry. Is happening!
How does the 4570 hit with the 405 or 500 grain bullet?
OOOPS ! Make that Drunkin Pumpkin Pie !!
You found me a 22 mag frontier, LOVE THIS GUN.I JUST GOT A 44 BIG BOY LOVE IT ALSO.GREAT JOB BUILDING THESE GUNS,NEXT ONE IS THE 45-70.THANK YOU.
Have you got recommendations for 44 mag. ammo? I have a .44 big boy and find it difficult to cycle through .44 mag shells. Seems to jam about 80% of the time..thanks
Any chance you are going to offer Big Boy All-Weathers with a 16 inch barrel? Would be awesome.
I do have a question for you. Could you contact Federal and ask them if on UA-cam they could shoot the Hammer Down out of a revolver with a ballistic's test for the 357 and 44 magnum. The 327 would be awesome. They say they can be shot out of a revolver. Thanks
I got a better question
Can you ask federal why hammer down ammo is never available?
😁😁😁😁
God bless all here.
Was it "pumpkicide" or "gordicide"? Either way, good shooting and awesome documentation of the impacts, courtesy of the high-speed camera. Too much fun!
When is Henry going to make us a .357 mag pump action rifle
I'd like to know where to get some of that ammo!?
We actually have shelves full here in Dallas
Make it yourself - if you can find primers.
I used the shoot pumpkins to make a killer Pumpkin Pie...Loaded..." drumskin Pumpkin Pie"
The 44 Magnum used to be the 'Most Powerful ' handgun in the World.
And seeing that it will blow the 'Great Pumpkin's' Head clean Off...
You've got to ask yourself One Question.....
"Do I feel Lucky"??......."Well Do Ya?.........Punk"?? =))
It looks like for hunting pumpkins the 44mag is all you need.
My wish is a Henry in SILVER, .327 Federal magnum, or .41 magnum. I have the .327 Big Boy brass!!
Have a .41 S&W revolver that’s my favorite gun, will dang near snap your wrist outta socket but oh well
Pumpkin killer!😂just subscribed 🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Please send my gun store a 357 big boy model x my life would be complete and all my worry’s would go away if I had a 357 x model
I filled my pumpkins with tannerite and vaporized them, nobody watched my video
thank you youtube algorithm
I'll check it out!!!
🙂☕👍
Very little difference in bullet weight or velocity 44 magnum is 1715 FPS The 4570 IS 1880 FPS ? The 44 magnum is 270 grain while the 4570 is 300 not much difference.
Enjoyed the video please share the type of projectile, fmj, jhp, etc, next time
Think he shot the last pumpkin same gun he never showed the casing enter the gun.
The pumpkin he first shot looks like a clay pot fragile
Let’s see this test on gel at 50 yarfs
Not scientific, but practical.
you keep cutting the the pumpkin after its already been shot. Show it for .2s before the bullet hits it. not .2 after.
This isn't punkin' chunkin'. It's literally just shooting pumpkins.
Don't get me wrong, I love shooting pumpkins, watermelons, any of that fun stuff.
But don't call this what it isn't. The definition of punkin chunkin "is the sport of hurling or 'chucking' a pumpkin solely by mechanical means for distance."
I see absolutely none of that in this video. Instead, this is just click bait. Be better than this.
Be better? You mean...tradition should matter to a company like Henry?
You must be fun at parties.
There is this really neat thing called "chillax." You should try it, it feels great!
Could do without the shooting of the animals in the intro. I like shooting but not animals.
get to the point
