I didn’t how the initial steps are, I thought they started in the apparatus since the beginning. I was always worried how they started training without dying.
that good schools in their country have fitness I'm from Acapulco Mexico, and here there is no gym and I have 19 years and I learned a little training on the beach, I would like someone to help me with sponsorship to go to another country to train gymnastics
@@blackcat1115 I wasn’t, but I was coached in Russia, and it’s quite a bit different. Al himself said in an ESPN article that he realized his past errors. And Al’s job is to coach champions, not to be a friend to anybody. It takes a lot to reach the top of any sport and he gets nothing but hate for doing what it takes to get there . If he was an “everybody just have fun” kinda coach, nobody from GAGE would ever see a podium.
@@blackcat1115 Fair enough, I definitely can’t argue with a first hand account, from someone who personally knows him. I know that Country McCool has been quoted in the past criticizing Al, but I’m always skeptical of a third party quoting somebody. If you heard it from her personally, that’s a lot different. I am disappointed to hear that about Al.
@@blackcat1115 Also btw, In my first comment I was not in any way condoning physical or mental abuse from coaches. I grew up in Russia so my experiences with my gymnastics coaches were quite a bit different, than they are in America. I trained there from the time I was 5 years old until the time I was 17 years old (I was nobody important, I never placed in a major competition) In Russia in the early 2000’s I thought our coaches were very professional with us, serious and critical but never mean. I’ve been in America since I was 19 years old (since 2007) and I took up coaching gymnastics here when I was 23. I don’t know how to explain it, but the dynamic is very different. It’s like coaches here treat the girls as if they are professional adults and like they are 5 years old at the same time. Al’s demeanor always reminded me of that very professional, serious but not mean type of coaching I was used to. Very sad to hear he is different off camera
Once I did one with help onto a low vault height and smashed my head straight into the vault
the other day our team started yurchenkos and to be honest they are so scary when you 1st learn them
Gymnast4life143 ikr I had to do a roundoff back tuck over the vault😫and a layout onto the vault☹️it was scary but my coach spotted me
That is Sarah Finnegan. Al used his girls as demonstrators at a Region 4 Training camp he hosted last fall.
