Good review. I have been intrigued by this piece since I first heard of it. It's probably going to be a future purchase. The blue dial version with the red seconds hand is my favourite. Your striped NATO choice is perfectly matched with it! Thanks for posting!
+mitchm331 Thanks for your message. I hope you manage to get hold of one as I doubt you'd regret it :-)
This same watch comes as a dive watch with digits on the facets of the bezel. The bezel IS in fact a separate piece of metal and rotates on the dive version. Looks huge on your arm.
Ohhh very nice, going to try one on this weekend for sure
+motboy2 Great, let me know the outcome :-)
where exactly did you purchase the nato strap?
Hi. Great review. I have 2 questions for the 43mm version if you could help please. 1. Overall width of watch inc crown? 2. Diameter of the face? TIA.
does anyone know where I can find the leather bumper for this watch?
Nice review.
What annoys me is the fact that manufacturers somehow manage to have the secondhand making its stop right between the markers. If they can do that it must be possible to have the secondhand hit the markers.
+TheMaestro58 I've had watches where the markers are bang on, but it's just pot luck in my experience. I doubt they actively aim to get things perfect during the manufacturing process. I understand your OCD woes though... it would be much better for my sanity if they got it perfect! :-D
+Watch Hobbyist +TheMaestro58 I had the same issue with secondhand in this watch, but I managed to get it easily fixed by using the crown! Try to play a bit with a crown :-)
...and that is not just by chance. All are like that, I had a look at 6 of them. And that is why I did not buy it.
Casio manages to get their $45 Duro to tick on the markers. Why cant Victorinox get it right?(at about 5x the price🤔).
I am so thankful (ironic) that someone else's watch is doing this as well. Mine does it and I was deeply worried that I had a defective movement and it would eventually start loosing time. I was even more worried because I had bought it at a factory store that only accepts exchanges not returns so I was worried that I would be stuck with a busted watch. I see that it may be just how the movement is (which the customer service woman told me), which is quite reassuring to me that it is not necessarily a defective watch that I have. It may seem like I am worrying too much, and I probably am 😂!
I have tried this watch on and it is large. Nice video, cheers.
+Bob FromBrisbane Thanks Bob. You're right, it's by no means small, but it doesn't feel "oversized". If it was smaller, you could "only" use a 6 tonne vehicle to run it over with, so of course, it needs this size :-D
+Watch Hobbyist I have seen those videos and they make interesting viewing.
They just came out with a mechanical with texture dial inox. It OMG beautiful. Basel world 2018
I love the new models, especially the wooden bracelet
Lug width is actually 21mm.
Totally agree with you on the bracelet. The clasp is horrible.
Really odd setup isn't it. The store clerk had to remove it from my wrist as it got stuck. I think Victorinox want you to put it on and then have to buy it because you can't remove it! :-D
They do an automatic version for about £700 btw
where did you get this watch? That's a good price for £185. I just ordered one with rubber strap from amazon, i'll have to see it tomorrow if I will like it! The luminescence is not too bright do you think? how long does it last?
great review!
+cmdaltctr the lume is weaker than I'd like but not the worst I've seen. As long as you don't mind large cases, you'll like the watch. Still liking mine a lot.
+Watch Hobbyist amazon logistic lost my order, sadly. Got a full refund but without the watch. :-/
And theyre out of stock! Where did you get yours, if you dont mind me asking?
+cmdaltctr Ah no. I used a company that's now out of business, but they were awful anyhow.
i got one from amazon the last one for £230! fullfilled by amazon so that's great, arrived.its amazing... beautiful finish, the rubber strap is one of the most comfortable srap i've ever worn. Thanks for the review, it helped me into making this decision. Got the same one as you except the nato strap.
what was the size of yo uh nato strap for this particular watch? thank you.
Hi, it takes a 22mm strap
actually you are wrong on the strap width. it is actually 21mm. believe me I own the entire collection. it's hard to find 21mm straps.
Thanks for pointing this out and glad to hear there's another big fan of the model. I tried the bracelet recently and wasn't impressed at all; ver fiddly.
I am unable to find any nato strap on Victorinox web page...
+Pasquale Spagnuole You're right, I can't either. I guess they may only be available from actual Victorinox stores. I've seen them around Europe but never been inside one.
it's such a shame that they didn't equip this beautiful watch with a gliding second hand..
+Louis Lipp Hi Louis, it would need to be mechanical for that really, or made by Bulova I guess with a tuning fork movement. I think it would really suit an automatic movement but for me, the main improvement needs to be the lume. It would be perfect then. Thanks
They do .Its about £700 for auto
where did you got that nato?
Hi, I bought it on a forum, so I have no idea where to find them otherwise sorry
Looks way too large on your wrist imo. However as you might already know there is now a smaller version at 37 mm. Im tempted to get it. It is marketed for women but there is nothing feminine about it. The INOX design is very unisex.
Thanks Linus, yes I always knew it was too large but certain watches I don\t mind this. Panerai, Breitling etc are expected to be oversized, and the INOX is similar IMO.
Nice Rolex. I'm saving my money to get one myself. (But the version without the date).
+MrPleers Which Rolex are you saving for?
A submariner without a date window.
+MrPleers Cool. That's actually just known as the Submariner, with the date one being known as the Submariner date. I definitely prefer the 14060 model, and you'd be best looking for a 2-liner, so not the chronometer model 14060m. They're more sought after due to the plainer dial, but I don't see them as any less accurate than the 14060m. Always try and buy with box and papers where possible, and ideally from a trustworthy source. Good luck!
Thanks. I'm planning on buying one new. So it will take me a couple of years to get one. But until then I have my vintage (1950) Omega and my Braun BN0106 to keep me company.
+MrPleers 👍👍
where can I buy This Nato band?? any adress pls
+Meh Ben I think it's available from Victorinox stockists. Mine was from a forum.
Nice review but still irks me when the second hand doesn't hit the chapter ring markers! That one you've shown even at that price range should not do that, at least for me. Anyway, thumbs up for putting the video out and sharing it!
i enjoyed the review. but the second hand is misaligned, and thats a big no from me.
wild strap!
What's the website you got it from?
+PatrickEVRAable Hi I wouldn't recommend them to anyone sorry. They're known for sloppy service and poor returns etc.
+Watch Hobbyist Haha, but I really like this watch but can't stomach the £350 for a Quartz! Never mind I'll keep searching! Love the channel Btw, only discovered you yesterday and already watched (excuse pun) most of your content!
+Watch Hobbyist also have you kept this watch in your collection? Still finding it impressive? If you ever want to sell.. 😉
+PatrickEVRAable Thanks :-) I suppose £350 is quite a lot for it when you put it that way, but it's definitely a watch that feels it will last, so may still be worth it for you IMO. There's a new diver version coming out I believe, but I haven't seen it, and it looks pretty large. If it's not too big though when I try one, I'm very interested.
+PatrickEVRAable Yes it's still there. I've kept it because I won't be able to replace it at the price I paid, and I wear it occasionally. It's just a great watch to own and I'm still amazed at the polished case quality. I don't want to sell mine, sorry, but I hope you find one. Maybe wait for the sales as one usually pops up somewhere.
NATO straps on large watches makes them even larger and look silly on a small wrist, e.g. the reviewer’s (no offence).
mine hit it right on the marker...Ti
Highly recommend the automatic INOX !
I would buy this for £1000 if it had a sweeping movement instead :(
I'm thinking of a way to make mine sweep if you'll pay that!! :-D :-D
FYI there is a Tag aqua racer that looks a lot like this and in auto. I'm actually looking at this watch because I don't want to spend the money on the Tag.
An automatic movement wouldnt make much sense in a watch build for durability though.
Late answer - they do an automatic with an exhibition case back.
great review. so much better than TGV.
+Sb Sb Haha thanks, although some of his reviews have helped me in the past 😊
What's wrong with the red seconds hand, it's all jumpy and such. Is it broken or what such? And I reckon that bezel looks to be about a 1 1/2 inch socket size; I got my ratchet right here. Looks like you'll have to send it to Bulova so they can fix it and make it sweep like a seconds hand should. I reckon.
You reckon quite a lot of things there Sammy :-)
SAMMY COLT You forgot to take your meds before posting, didn't you?
To pronounce Victorinox correctly drop the X. The RRP is over £400. I own one in black, but think it would have been better with a sweeping second hand. On that point, mine hits the marks, unlike yours.
Certainly not a petite watch.
+Santiago Fernanda No but not crazy like some other watches in this price range.
can you have a bath in it?
The loom is terrible, not worth the money! And scratches way to easy!
