I watched this movie when I was a child. And all of the sudden at the age of 24 I remember one little snippet of this move and spent the whole day trying to find it. now this movie reminds me of a fever dream.
I remember my parents renting this on VHS at the local store when I was 6. I remember being creeped out by Hexxus, lol. Tim Curray has a sinister voice with this character, lol. The animation in it is incredible even today.

I watched this until the tape wore out. I still watch it if I find it on HBO or something lol but I realized as I got older the true message behind it. You see as a kid I loved it because my family has always worked in the sawmill and logging industry. Still own and operate a mill daily but when we do log we usually cut our own land but never clear cut like this. Were not all bad and I wish they would teach people that select cutting and proper land management helps the forest. Being greedy kills it like the rain forest.... when you select cut your taking the biggest trees which is good because they eventually drain nutrients from all smaller trees trying to grow. And usually clean up and take the dead trees. Done properly you can then harvest again in about 20-25 years. We dont want to wreck the environment we want to preserve it because many families depend on this industry

After all these years I finally found out what it’s called. I’ve seen this movie 20-25 times!! I couldn’t even remember what the movie was called. I had to type “Disney animated movie black ink takes over jungle” then clicked on google images. Then, I saw it. A picture of Hexxus and I immediately knew that it was from that movie I used to watch. Jesus Christ I am so glad that I found this movie again. It Carries so much nostalgia for me.

Robin was quite pissed when he found out and contribute to the falling out between Robin and Disney. Edit: Robin signed the contract to do Ferngully first so he had focus on that film first and Disney really wanted Robin and don't like competition

I think Disney has gotten into the mentality that because they are one of the biggest names in entertainment that they can get away with anything. What’s scary about this movie is the chainsaw sounds don’t sound anything like chainsaws at least that I’ve ever heard. They sound like sheet howls of screaming terror.
That's old school sound effects for you. Back when this was made, they didn't have all the fancy computer stuff they do today. This film was drawn, animated, and painted by hand. A lot of sound effects were often just everyday things, like a drum sound used to sound like a door shutting, velcro to sound like something was tearing, etc.
