I already possess a Chartered Accountant qualification from Nigeria (ICAN). Most of the courses In level 2 and level 3 are courses I have done in my ICAN study. I have just moved to the United Kingdom and I intend to take the AAT Level 4 because I FEEL i have all the foundational knowledge and i need to ace an accounting qualification exam. Moreso with my ICAN Qualification from Nigeria, I am eligible for exemption from 2 levels in ACCA.
Hi Will, the video was very useful. So, thank you for uploading it. I have been working in finance for last five years, however, I do not have professional finance qualification. Would you recommend me to study AAT level 2 and 3 in order to move to senior finance position or to apply for the roles like Finance officer
I would indeed, I would start from level 2 and work your way through to hopefully completing level 4. It would allow you to go for higher positions combined with your experience.
Bless you! I’ve got all the answers I need for starting AAT! Thanks 🙏 Just a quick question , do I need to have GCSE results done before taking Level 2 courses ? Or it’s not necessary?
I have been trying to complete my level 2 for sometime but I have never been able to get past the exams is there any advice you could give to help me get through level 2 to make it easier.
I have no prior experience with AAT and have never studied it before. However, I have applied for Level 2 in accounting. Do you think I will be able to succeed in this course?
Hi Will, thank you for your video. it is really useful. I have done bookkeeper( financial and cost) in Netherland. It seems it likes level three extended in UK. what level at AAT would you recommend to me? I have good knowledge but not experience in accounting.
I would recommend starting at level 2, I would nearly always recommend starting at this level. AAT is a building block syllabus so by starting higher you’re effectively saying you know the vast majority of level 2. Now the experience you’ve got is invaluable however you’ll find the accounts systems does the vast majority for you and the skills you’ll learn at level 2 will hugely benefit you going into level 3.
Hi .i have completed my MBS in accounting and i have also 3 years working experience under a CA firm in Bangladesh. Do i need to take AAT degre.because now i m in uk and wanted to starting my carrear in accounting fields. Please suggest me
Hi! So what id do is probably go on the AAT website and have a look at the exemption calculator too see if you get any exemptions from your prior studies. If you do it may be worth completing the remaining units to get your AAT qualification.
Hi, Thanks for your great video, I've got a master's degree in accounting but in non-English language and I'm new in London i would like to start to work on my major so i decided to start the AAT course but I don't know from which level? and also i dont know is AAT the right course that i need it as a person who has 8 years accounting experience in another country?
Hi! Given your previous qualification and experience it might be better to look at ACCA, they have an exemption calculator which you can use to see if your degree allows you any exemptions for any of their exams.
Hi i have a national certificate in Accountancy and a diploma in Accountancy from Zimbabwe, would you recommend me to do AAT level 4 as im looking for more practical now. Thank you
Hi dear your videos are very helpful could you please help me out I have done my Masters in finance from my home country alsy I recently completed MSc International Business from UK, now I got a 3 month contract job in a small company in uk I want to hunt the job as an Accounts Officer, bookkeeper but I am so confused which level I have to start can you suggest me the training providers details as well. Please please please I am eagerly waiting for your kind response
@@Willboardman hello thank you for this video. I completed my masters in account. Now I want to shift to UK pls suggest which one is best for me.please suggest which level is best for me?
Hi Will, I have a BSc in Accounting and Finance, do I need to have an AAT qualification and if yes, what are the benefits of having an AAT qualification since I already have a bachelor's degree in accounting and finance? I'm aspiring to start an accounting practice soon. FYI I live in London and I have graduated from SOAS, University of London
Hi! So what I’d say qualification wise you probably wouldn’t need to do AAT given your degree. Equally you could do AAT and then open an AAT practice (which would fit into plans to open your own practice), as of yet have you got any experience within an accountancy practice?
@@Willboardmanso far I have submitted self-assessment tax returns for a lot people and I’m really comfortable doing that. However, I’m currently trying to learn how to submit company accounts and corporation tax returns using accounting software but it has proven to be a challenge nonetheless, I know how to file the company accounts and CT600 on the company house website. Are you aware of any course provider who can teach me on how to submit the company accounts and CT600 using accounting software?
Hello, thankyou for your video. I need one suggestion from you. I was doing CA study in india. Now I'm in London. So what study you suggest to do AAT or ACCA??
AAT level 4 Vs ACCA Foundation level. Which do you advise? I hold a bachelors in economics & diploma in accounting though i have been out of active studies for 15years now. Thank you
If you’re planning on starting at level 4 is does make the decision more challenging. Are you planning on finishing at the relevant level 4 qualification or are you wanting to continue and complete ACCA?
Hi will, I have done MBA WITH finance and bachelor in commerce. I have done certified professional accountant course. But my whole education is in India. I have 4year experience as well but in India. So, please help me what course is best for me. If aat is good then which level? I am having trouble finding a job.
Hi Will, i failed my AAT level spreadsheet exam and got borderline for my results. I am finding it hard to find content to help me study. I have fone over the practice assessment on the Portal. On my last exam it eas talking about goal seek , forecast for next 3 months ect. Need to do my exam before 30th September 2023 as the syllabus is being withdrawn. I will have to wait 5/6 weeks for results 😭😭 what are my options if i dont pass but have passed all exams including synoptic exam? I am stressing about it 😭😭
Hi! So what I would say is definitely cover those areas that came up last time that you weren’t sure on because it’s very possible they may appear again. Now if for whatever reason this time around it isn’t a pass, you’d pay the reduced fee to transfer to Q22, you’d then need to sit two exams which are the business awareness exam and you’d unfortunately need to sit management accounting techniques which is basically combed costing and excel exam. So it’s less than ideal so put everything you’ve go into this resit however if it doesn’t come back as a pass don’t panic it’s still possible to complete the qualification.
@@Willboardman thank you so much for the encouragement , just need to pass it. I'm trying to cover parts that I think will come up ( well what I can remember lol ( 😊
I sat the spreadsheet exam in September again and I finally passed it 🥳🥳🥳. Fully qualified now at level 3. Need to start looking for jobs now but finding it hard as employers and recruiting agency are looking for people with experience 🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️ Thank you so much for all your help and support! 🙏☺️
I wonder why real life experience is so different from the exams criteria 🤷♂️ I worked without complaints from my ex-boss or hmrc but I failed on aat exam 🤣 my life is irony
Always the way unfortunately! Theory vs Practical, it’s one of those where being able to do the actual job and gain the experience will outweigh passing a theoretical exam. But gaining the qualification and having that certificate just makes life easier applying for jobs.
This was really useful, thank you Will

You’ll be absolutely fine starting on level 2 it’s designed for those who have no knowledge or experience of accounting.

If you’re already CIMA qualified you wouldn’t necessarily need to complete the AAT qualification
