- This best Ikea Kallax hack with helpful cardstock storage is the second video in my craft room tour series. If you missed the first video you can watch it here: • 3 Reasons I Love my Ne...
Today I'm focusing specifically on cardstock storage using the Ikea Kallax units. I've used a variety of Kallax units to create a custom storage space. You'll hear me refer to them as 4x4, 1x4 and 2x2, simply meaning 4 cubes across and 4 down, etc. Don't miss all the shopping links I've included below for the products in this video. I've also linked the Stamp N Storage cardstock/paper inserts that fit perfectly in the Ikea Kallax unit.
My craft room has a large window that faces west so I was careful to avoid the direct sunlight. We situated the Ikea Kallax unit so it faces north to avoid any sun damage to the cardstock. I live in Florida and the afternoon sun is always warm so I close the blinds to help keep the room cool, especially in the summer months. Plan your layout carefully using the Ikea Planning Tools. The Planning Tools allows you to choose the products you like and situate them to get a great 3D visual layout.

Wow , exactly what I needed to see! Have my 4 x 4 kallax installed with an extra just like you did, bolted to the wall and supported for all that weight of the paper. My unit it on a platform, which looks so pretty. Your wall is beautiful 😅😊 the additional inserts from ikea have my attention! Thank you!
Thank you for watching Michelle!! This is an older video, here is a link to my current studio:

That paper storage is great but those inserts are $100! That's insane!
Thanks so much for stopping in to view the video Taylor!
Waaaay outta my league! Im sticking to my heavy duty cardboard box covered in contact paper...
Ask Stamp N Storage if they also sell the items flat-packed, for you to assemble yourself. I bought a similar one, for roughly a third of the already-assembled insert.
Thank you Lisa for showing your paper organization. I love it!
Darlene glad it was helpful!
I am so thankful you are doing this. My husband just built me a crafting she shed and I needed to know what to do for organization. This is perfect! Thank you!
Hi Belinda! Thrilled that this video series is helpful. A she shed sounds glamorous!
The organization is absolutely aesthetically pleasing & functional! 😍
& you explain it so thoroughly & in a straight forward fashion, so thank you for that! 🤗
Thanks for visiting Elvira!! This is my studio from my previous home. Here is a link to my current studio for we have moved this past year.

I love the paper storage idea.
Thank you, Melissa. I put shopping links down in the video description below if that helps.
Thanks Lisa, very helpful. Just now getting around to attempting to get my papers better organized, and this will really help. Thanks for all of your tips and tricks. Looks like I'll need to pick up some of the PVC pipe and get hubby involved. Thanks again! Really enjoy all of your videos.
Happy to have you visit!! Thank you!!
I love, love this. Some guy here on YT shows how to do these dividers, route the side so they can slip in.the Kallax unit... way too much work. This is so much easier and looks so much nicer.
If your video had been made in 2015 I could have kept all my scrapbook papers when we downsized! Now, I only have basic cardstock and buy designer papers only as needed.
Thank you, thank you.
Ellen happy to have you visit!! This is an older video! I moved last year and here is link to my new studio if you are interested:

I have been wanting to re-organize my craft room. I just ordered 4 12 x 12 Paper Holders by Stamp N Storage for the Ikea Storage Unit. Once I get these I will then go to our Ikea store and get the Ikea Kallax Shelf Unit's. Thank you for this video.
Hi Darlene! You're going to love these paper inserts! The quality is fabulous and you can store your cardstock either vertically or horizontally. The Kallax unit is well made and incredibly affordable. So glad this video helped. Thanks for watching.

Glad the video was helpful Frieda!! Many thanks for watching!!
Incredibly helpful. Seeing that your units are sturdy and flush to the wall and don't seem to be bowing anywhere gives me relief. I need one shelving units to store all my stamps and dies and another to store my papers. It seems it can store that weight very well without difficulty and safely.
Thank you for visiting!! I moved a year ago and here is a link to my new craft room and storage: lisasstampstudio.com/2020/09/new-craft-room-tour.html

Best use of paper storage!!
Thank you and for visiting this video!!
Thank you for sharing, I love the paper storage, I initially thought it was dowel rods but looked again and saw those 👌I've never been to IKEA, but there are a lot of thing's I've been wanting storage wise and IKEA keeps popping up, so I shall go and have a look,
Your craft room is beautiful 💖
Thank you Jojo and for stopping by to watch!!
IKEA does ship, if you don't have one close by. But, its worth the drive to see a store at least once.
You'll go for the Kallax but come home with so much more!
@@ellenhofer3343 thank you so much 🙏💞
Nicely organised!
Thank you so much and for viewing the video!
You have a lovely room Lisa! 😊
Thank you, Jan. I'm really enjoying it!
Love it, can not wait until I start mine.
Have fun organizing your craft room Theresa!! Thanks for viewing this video!!
I think this is a beautiful way to store papers!
I enjoy scrapbooking, journaling and using planners. I organize in a similar way, but recently I learned about “organizing styles” that really helped me appreciate everyone’s unique styles! Over the years I just bought a little at a time, just to have a basic form of organization. Now we’re finally ready to save for what works best for me.
I learned from Clutterbug- UA-cam that there are important questions to recognize that help one discover one’s organization style. Two questions are:
1. Do you prefer to see everything you have in an appealing way, or do you prefer to have it hidden in a drawer or behind a door? I’m a drawer person.
2. Are you a Macro organizer or Micro-organizer? An example of this with silverware 🍴for a Macro organizer is to put all of it (spoons, forks and knives) all in one space. A person that prefers to Micro- organization will prefer an organizer to separate each. Everyone started with Macro-organization as a child, but “grew into” their preferred style. It also may change from space to space. A Macro-organizer is more willing to look through a zone for what they need. A Micro-organizer feels more peaceful having organized zones broken down to more specific organization containers. They’re more willing to take the time ahead of time to organize everything and then find everything very easily. They can get to what they recant to do more quickly in the long run. They put “time and effort in first and enjoy easily finding everything later. It’s worth the time, costs and effort to them. I’m a micro-organizer.
I love how beautiful the display is❣️ I ended up over the years buying lots of IKEA cubes. I have binders for each category with LOTS of sheet protectors! I’m also visual. When I can see what I have, that helps me use it, not want more and know what needs to go on the shopping 🛍 list. So I have a rainbow 🌈 if binders for solid papers. Then I have binders by category for over 25 topics. I keep in different sized sheet protectors and mini bags usually used for jewelry everything flat from card stock of many kinds, stickers, die cuts, frames, and definitely more. I’m enjoying the rewards now! My next goal is to get matching binders. I’ve slowly gathered what we could afford and find, so things are put away in binders, but the binders don’t match. I prefer using Avery Clearview 2” D-ring white binders. I love that I can be as creative as I want, when I want, but our family albums have a “enough of a unifying look 👀 that it’s appealing to the eye”. I also highly value “little fingers” that might be sticky or dirty being fine to browse through albums and supplies (to an extent). That’s why I choose binders. 2” D ring works well with “not too heavy” or “bulky”. It’s “just right”, in my opinion.
Anyways, thanks for letting me share my unique way of doing things too. I love your organization and how beautiful it is. Those dividers work very well too. That was very helpful of your husband to make the pvc inserts for smaller papers ❣️ Thanks for your input and ideas!
So happy to have you visit this video!! Thanks so much!!
Great job!
Thank you, Marilyn!
Love you storage for card stock.
Thank you so much Glenda! It is great!!!
Excellent......I love watching organization videos....... You have a very nice area😁
Thanks for watching Vaye!!
I dont have the inserts or the IKEA units (wish I did!) but started storing my paper vertically a few years ago. Better accessibility and I never have a problem with warping.
Thank you for viewing Cass!!
Thanks for sharing 😊
You are most welcome Rico!! Thank you for viewing the video!!
Really useful thank you xxx
Hi Wendy! So glad you found this helpful. Thanks for coming by to watch!
Thanx. I finally found this😉
So happy you found the videos!! Thanks for watching!!
Lovely storage, I use the file insert for the storage of my punches. It holds a lot and I can just pull the drawer out to see which one I want.
Thanks for visiting this video Kellie!! I moved last year to a new home! Here is a link to my new studio if you are interested!

$85 for one cube insert?? Love the idea, but that’s an outrageous price! Surely they can’t be that hard to build. It’s beautiful though! Great ideas on the scrap paper too!
Linda thank you for watching!
Wow that’s expensive
Rossana Nufio n
No they are $92 bucks now
That's the only reason I haven't bought one yet. Way too expensive. WeRMemoryKeepers has plastic versions you can buy in 4s, but they're $60.
My paper storage is a lot like yours with Ikea and Stamping storage. I don't have a lot of 12 x 12 papers but the 8 1/2 x 11 is in 2 x 3 cubes. Will check out your color list. My organization of colors is sorta kinda, i.e., chaos.
Hi Kathy! Thanks for stopping by to watch. I had to giggle at the chaos comment about your color organization. I always say "do what works for you".
Great video, thank you so much for sharing! I’d love to know where u got the self adhesive post it note labels.😊💗👍🏼
Hi Elizabeth! The self-adhesive post-it-note labels were purchased at Office Depot. Thanks for watching.
Brilliant
Thank you Helen!!
I love your organization videos! I am getting a craft cabinet soon and will use some of your tips to organize my space. I was wondering if you have a rainbow order list including the new 2019-2021 In Colors?
Hi Amanda! Thanks for watching. There's a link in the video description above here that provides you with a list of the rainbow order. Simply click "show more" above and you'll see it but to make it easier for you, you can find the list here: ua-cam.com/users/redirect?redir_token=gdCiloRej2yxyZSQND5URo6jJht8MTU2NjI2MDEwNkAxNTY2MTczNzA2&v=l9PmFnKl5-Y&q=https%3A%2F%2Fdrive.google.com%2Ffile%2Fd%2F1V-PxVp1e6T4OMPWzXJtKNVo2CuzMtHzU%2Fview%3Fusp%3Dsharing&event=video_description
Hi Lisa. Great way to store paper! Any plans too do a new colour chart for the new colours?
Thank you Wendy!! I love this storage for papers!!
Lisa, you're awesome and such an inspiration. I am starting from scratch in my craft room and I am frantic due to all the things I have accumulated. It's very overwhelming. But I will get there soon. Thanks so much for your videos.
So happy you like the videos LaRaunce!! It does take time to get organized!!
Your paper storage looks fantastic. I love the idea of using the 12x12 units to hold all of the sizes of card stock. I am curious though, do they fade at all since they are near the window? Where in Florida are you? I’m in central, right outside of Orlando.
Hi and thanks for watching! The window west and the paper faces north. I don't keep the blinds open in the afternoon when the sun is the strongest simply because it's too hot but I would be careful about any direct sunlight. The Kallax unit comes in a variety of sizes and compartments so you can customize a space around as a window as well. I'm in Brandon, FL, between Tampa and Orlando. Thinking we might be close to one another!
I love those inserts and the PVC pipe solution. Oh heck, I love your paper storage! So, do you keep all the colors stampin has ever come up with or do you purge each year?
Thank for watching Cass!! I keep just the current papers. Hope this helps!
When you buy from stamp n storage you earn points and they just had a sale for 15% off plus free shipping, the points add up quickly and bring the high price point down, it at least helps a lot to make them affordable. I buy one piece at a time when possible.
I agree Michelle!! Stamp n Storage has great products!! Thank you for stopping by to visit!!
I went to the bottom but did not see any links. I love your organized scrap room. I am very interested in your paper storage's, could you send a link to those. I suffer with bowed paper. I enjoyed your videos. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE this! Thank you for the information. One question: I noticed you store your paper vertically, standing up. Can these storage containers fit in the Ikea cube units when placed horizontally?
Thanks so much for visiting this video Jodi!! Yes you can store horizontally!
Lisa, I’ve been admiring your paper storage since first I found you. Where did you say you got the holders for the card stock ?
Jackie if you click show more (tiny arrow on Ipad/Iphone) under the video, you will see a list of all the links for the products used in my studio.

Hi Lisa. Love your paper storage. I’ve looked at the IKEA catalog and cannot find the vertical dividers. We live about an hour away from a store and would love to check them out. Did you find them in the catalog or in the store? Thanks for sharing. Love your vids. Shirley
Hi Shirley! Thanks for watching. You mentioned the "vertical dividers" but I'm not sure if you're referring to the cardstock inserts that are from Stamp N' Storage or another item in this video. I'd be happy to help you if you can provide me with a bit more detail.
Hello again, Lisa. It is the cardstock storage. I guess I missed that it was from Stamp n Storage. I should have recognized their material as I have their ink storage system, love it. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the response!
Hello, have you did an update to the rainbow cardstock list
Sure have! It's on my website here: lisasstampstudio.com/digital-downloads
Do the edges of the coloured card stock not fade?
I do not have the cardstock at direct sunlight Lise and I do use my cardstock quickly. Thanks for watching!
Can you give the link for the cube Inserts for paper please
Sherri thank so much for visiting!! Here is a link to my favoritie things:
🤩 My Favorite Things: bit.ly/47rh33W
Click on Craft Room Favorites then scroll down to Craft Room Organization. Click on the picture for more information and ordering. Hope this helps!!
How do you protect your paper from fading ?
Hi Debbie! The cardstock does not face the window which is what causing fading. Additionally, I rarely open the blinds to this room since it gets direct sunlight in the afternoon. I hope that helps!
Hi Lisa, do you have a printer in your craft room? If so, where is it?
Theresa thanks so much for visiting this video!! I have a printer in my office next to my studio!
Everything looks beautiful. I need paper storage and this looks perfect. Am I correct that each of the 12 x 12 paper holders is $85
Hi Lynda! That is the correct price per holder. While they aren't inexpensive they are incredibly constructed. I will never have to purchase another paper storage unit again! I highly recommend them and this is not an endorsed or sponsored video.
I would like information on the inserts please
Stacy thank you so much for visiting this video!! Here is a link to my craft room favorites that has these inserts included! Click the picture of the insert to get information or to order!!

Hope this helps!!
Um looked bowed to me! Papers are best flat for long term use, I like to use a chipboard cover as the little weight keeps them really flat.
Thanks for viewing this video Steve!!
Are the ikea cube backed cause I want a wood back so no sun damage
My shelves are open on the back, against the wall so no sun damage. I think they do make one with a back. Check the Ikea website. Hope this helps.
Lisa Curcio Lisa's Stamp Studio Thank 😊
Where did you put Calypso Coral? It’s missing from your Rainbow Cardstock Order?
Anyway you can tell us your Ink Pad Order? Thanks
Hi Laura! I have an "all time" rainbow color list that will help. You can find it here: drive.google.com/drive/folders/18f4CpHtvi7gWMaUbD53HTF1xMouojJgC I have another video coming up in this series that will address the ink pad order and storage. It's coming soon!
Lisa Curcio Lisa's Stamp Studio can’t access that link
Laura Ann 3 across/ 5 down calypso coral
Those ikea units say each shelf has a 29 lb limit, those wooden stamp n storage units aren’t light weight without counting all the paper. I’d be afraid that’s to much weight. I Love the way it looks though. Just afraid of it breaking. Thanks For Your Color Rainbow List, Appreciate It So Much.
Hi Laura Ann! You have a valid concern and this is definitely something we took into consideration. The 12x12 Stamp N Storage inserts weigh about 4.5 lbs. Even when filled, the cardstock and inserts are under 29 lbs. and sufficient to hold the weight per cube. In fact, Stamp N Storage specifically designed them with this in mind. I'm able to get 50 sheets of Stampin' Up! cardstock into each of the dividers, as well. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
Lisa Curcio Lisa's Stamp Studio Lisa, Thanks for the response, that’s a lot of paper and yes it does help. I appreciate it a lot.
Instead of the names in the scrap divider tab, just put a scrap off the paper so you can see it right off ;)
Great tip!! Thanks for visiting KImberly!!
Gorgeous 👧🏻
Thank you, Lyn!
Good grief, who can afford to pay $85-$94 for inserts??? I got a set of 10 similar-looking plastic inserts for $3 at a garage sale that fit in one of the 20 cubes I got at another sale for $5 ea (many with drawers, others with wood dividers for paper). I've watched other craft-room videos where crafters complained that storing paper vertically puts bends in them. Can the extortionately-priced inserts be used horizontally?
Yes the storage can also be horizontal. Thank for watching!!
Awesome..I need a husband
He certainly is handy! Thanks for watching, Katey!
EXACTLY what i need.
Checked website.
€75,83
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA !!!! ARE THEY NUTS !?!?!?
That is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE for what it is.
I'd make my own for that and could make a whole bunch of them.
Didn't even check for shipping cost.
Yeah, i could even buy a bunch of 4 slots from IKEA themselves.
Thank you for visiting this video!!
I was so excited when I started watching this video...especially when you mentioned the cost effectiveness of buying from Ikea. Then you mentioned the Stamp and Storage System. This is disproportionately expensive for what you are getting. I should have known you were showing the video just to promote this overpriced system
Susan so happy to have you visit this video I made a few years ago! Thank you so much!!
The Stamp N Storage inserts are way too expensive at $100 per eat. There must be something less expensive. Those of us on limited budgets like me as I am retired need to be able to afford our organizational products.
Pamela thank you so much for stopping by!! There are many ways to store cardstock at various price points! This is the one that has worked for me for many years!
Just one organizer costs more than the actual Kallax unit. I’ll pass.
Many thanks for visiting Amy!
