I strongly believe that controversial things, if possible should be placed in a museum. Human history, is often filled with awful things that have been done by one person to another and it shouldn't be forgotten. None of us are perfect, so its only fair that we are reminded of that inperfection in an appropriate place such as a museum. Loved the Atlanta History museum, very informative.
Now if only they stop whitewashing/revision our history books, putting their villains are the "moral" characters or their immoral behavior very "polite"... And they are usually "proud" of this immoral behavior ...why even lie or whitewash it to begin with. Later down the years , even hitIer will be portrayed as a good white moral christian, when they erase our history books for good.
Jacob, I enjoy watching your videos all the time, but watching you tell the stories in the history center, it really hit me how good you are at what you do. It’s your efficiency in the way you can show an exhibit, tell a fact or two, share your thoughts, make it interesting, and then move on to the next thing quickly. Each short segment is quick, to the point, and feels like you put a lot of thought and effort into what you want to say.
Thankyou Jacob for taking me through the oddity museum that was gracious of them to let you film some 😊😊😊😊❤love that there’s a stable place for all that 😊😊😊
Hello and good day Jacob. As someone born and raised in the south I do understand the not so nice connotation in the use of the carpetbagger term. That is mostly why I've called you Mr. Carpetbagger, to add a bit of respect to the term for you whom I would consider a friend. I would hope that no one could think in a derogatory manner about someone as amazing as you. Although some people can't help themselves, and they have to belittle someone else to be able to feel better about themselves. Thank You Sir for being so awesome. It was great to see you got to film in the oddities museum. I do hope you didn't have to have someone looking over your shoulder the time you were there. And the Atlanta History Museum was depressing as usual. I've been there a couple of times. I am however glad to see that at least part of Cyclorama is still viewable. Even the bad parts of our history need to be remembered so we don't end up doomed to repeat them. Thank You so much for todays trip through Americana. Maybe while you are in Atlanta you can visit the World of Coke. It's been years since I have been there and would be nice to see what they have done with the place. If you do visit there remember not to drink Beverly. Again thank you until next time keep the shiny side up.
I don't understand why people think not teaching the bad part of history is a good thing. I doesn't magically make it not have happened. Also, we need to be more realistic about the good things as well and not inflate or aggrandize our parts. We need to quit romanticizing war and conflict as well.
I think the second clown was a helium dispenser, as I recall one from my childhood looking virtually identical to that one. I'm very proud to have an ancestor who served with the Union and later became one of the foremost Lincoln scholars in the world. I even have a few of his things, including his bayonet and his US belt buckle.
Unfortunately, I just looked up if you can film or anything in the Mutter Museum in Philly, but you can't. You should check it out for yourself though Jacob. It's right up your alley.
A couple of things about two major items you featured at the Atlanta History Museum: 1) The Texas was one of the chasing engines during the "Great Locomotive Chase" that started in Big Shanty (now Kennesaw) and was run BACKWARDS during the chase. The other engine is The General and in the Big Shanty Museum museum in Kennesaw. 2) When the Cyclorama was in Grant Park, there were recordings and docents to explain the painting, and later on, a rotating set of bleachers. One of the dead soldiers in the diorama is Clark Gable, who expressed interest in being featured when he visited during the premiere of GWTW.
Hi Jacob thank you for this fantastic little peak.. People will want to see It even more very clever move..!!! Great M E UM Major Input as usual.. I hope you are all good...Glad your getting a very short break to see Jenn.!!! Looking forward to seeing the Rollercoaster. I am certain It will be a close one eye job..!!!! All for the channel... That's dedication.. Love you all the best Marie XXXX
The oddity museum is very interesting & the Atlanta Museum was as well. If I make it down to the Atlanta I will have to check them both out. The cyclorama looks amazing.
I didn't even know they had an oddity shop there as many times I have been through. I love stuff like that and thanks to your channel, I now know they have one and I can afford it. I am going through to Nashville, TN. In July so hopefully on the way back I can stop by. Me and my family are looking gor something to fo on the way back home.
Sometimes I don’t understand, you have somebody like the carpet bagger going into your business. He has almost 500,000 subscribers. They should have a private screening for just him because if I was a owner, I’d want my stuff shown to my business. But I guess everybody thinks differently. Just my 2 cents. 😂. At least he got a little snake peek.
Last day of Chillicothe Halloween Festival in Chillicothe, Ohio they have coffin race. It is like a halloween soapbox derby. Should check it out, free 3 day festival but Sunday only day has coffin race.
That smaller clown's head next to the trashcan's clown head was used and still is used in many arcades as where you aim a water pistol stream into his mouth and it blows up a balloon and when the balloon pops for the first person, they win a prize.
You have to watch gone with the wind there is a museum dedicated to the book and movie first scene ever filmed was burning of Atlanta the crates from 1930 king Kong movie was used for the burning to make space history to the movie is awsome
That was the most bummer filled museum I've ever seen! They need more Dinosaur animatronics to keep the mood light. Also yes, you absolutely want to see a soap box derby race. That's a good time.
The small mouth clown is to take in cotton candy cardboard which yo hold, they are or were come shape so you can hold it, then you put the empty cone in the mouth and it will suck it in, it's like the pig near the Alamo at Knoebels
Pretty sure the smaller-mouthed clown next to trash clown is put over the top of large rental helium tanks used for balloons in restaurants. My friends and I back in college would dare each other to “go kiss the clown” when visiting ones with it!
I wonder too if the oddity museum is concerned about a lot of pictures floating around social media of the deformed animals and specimens in jars causing animal activists to react and put them in bad light. Not giving everyone the ability to put a lot out there may give the museum a bit more control over their image.
Hi from a lifelong Atlanta native. Great job on everything as always except you missed something in the history museum. Unless they didn't display it but that would be odd. A part of history which my family and I witnessed. We were in the stands at Atlanta Fulton County Stadium when Mr. Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's record. Such a huge part of baseball history and seeing a black man get a standing ovation in the south in the 70s when he broke a white man's record, was a huge part of Atlanta history. It does show that we weren't all racist. My mom's family wasn't and their families werent. I usually give you an A ➕️ for Atlanta stuff but this one, I will have to give you an A ➖️. The painting by the way, was originally in a building that's humidity and other factors could not be controlled and they had to move it to a newer building before it fell apart.
The Girl Scouts set up outside my local weed dispensary here in Salisbury, MD... Which is a BRILLIANT marketing idea if you ask me. I unintentionally forked over WAY MORE than I usually do. And can I just say that GS cookies are like 100% better than back in the 70s when I was selling 'em? Also, I grew up near Gettysburg PA and they had a Cyclorama exhibit that had it's own building too. It was recently moved to the new Gettysbury National Military Park and Museum and Visitors Center when they built it. I guess they just couldn't get enough people to make an extra stop at the old one. Interesting that the same thing happened in Atlanta, huh? Thanks, as always, Jacob!
Thanks for taking us along on this fascinating time-traveling journey. You have a natural talent for explaining things to your viewers. No offense, but in my opinion, the Izzy mascot is pretty bad.
I live in South Carolina, and im from Massachusetts it's sad that the South calls us names. We don't ever call the South names when I lived up north. I never heard it up there.
Ok, I have to ask this... What prompted you to say "Chaos reigns" when you see a fox taxidermy? I'm fairly new to your channel still, so I have no idea what the genesis of that statement you use for fox stuff is.
I strongly believe that controversial things, if possible should be placed in a museum. Absolutely.
Well said.
Yes, that what makes this channel so unique.
A rainy day sounds just right for a good oddities museum.
wow... that illustration of the carpetbagger is a toothpick version of you in real life. I love how you use that name. It's perfect for what you do.❤
Thankyou Jacob for taking me through the oddity museum that was gracious of them to let you film some 😊😊😊😊❤love that there’s a stable place for all that 😊😊😊

What neat history of Atlanta 😊
I loved the Atlanta History Museum, I’ll try to visit there sometime.
Oh I love some good oddities!
2:17 I may be wrong but I believe that's a cougar rather than a bobcat. 😺
I was eating when I saw the pigs in the jar and it put me right off my food!
😂😂😂

Go to Georgia's Perry Fair they still have livestock
Good to know, I am not keen on what's being put on at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Unfortunately, I just looked up if you can film or anything in the Mutter Museum in Philly, but you can't. You should check it out for yourself though Jacob. It's right up your alley.
I thought of you immediately when Mark Muncy who you’ve met promoted this on his Facebook page

Absolutely love, love oddities!! Thank you Jacob 🙂
That cyclorama is quite possibly the coolest thing I ever saw. Low-tech virtual reality!
This was cool! Thanks for sharing
Good Morning " YA ALL " Jacob

Wow that’s rare to find an old coke bottle very cool 😎
Jacob you got the best videos I love oddities they have some cool stuff I need to check that out since my house looks like a museum as it is
Yes, you absolutely should watch gone with the wind. It was an excellent movie one of the best that I’ve seen.
eeeee thanks for the shoutout!!! I can't wait to check this place out!
We should also remember that before the suffarage movement, men had to own land or serve in the military in order to vote.
Very cool you saw the Olympic torch!!
Thank you again for a fun video

Thats a pretty good sneak peek into a place that doesn't allow photos
I’m early today! Thank you for showing us the oddities.
What a cool train engine ❤❤❤
Carpet bagger I love your videos

I have seen Gone with the Wind
If you ever go to a NASCAR race, you should see one at Atlanta Motor Speedway. You would enjoy it more than you think.
You have to watch gone with the wind there is a museum dedicated to the book and movie first scene ever filmed was burning of Atlanta the crates from 1930 king Kong movie was used for the burning to make space history to the movie is awsome

I would love too go to an oddities museum hope you had fun
It's a shame, because videos are good advertising for them, they could of had a free commercial with 20,000 views lol
The coal shovelers was in charge of of the train. They told the driver how ,what and when to do something, the driver was just a driver.
The small mouth clown is to take in cotton candy cardboard which yo hold, they are or were come shape so you can hold it, then you put the empty cone in the mouth and it will suck it in, it's like the pig near the Alamo at Knoebels

I guess synthetic fur is pretty new. However, if you really want something at scale, you could just get the fur as a mat (at least in the past)

17:03 old timey Jacob
Do you use any apps to help you find your roadside attractions or do you wing it?
Yea they didn’t wear dog tags in civil war like they do today as well . 😮
I wonder if there’s ever been a two headed cat?
Love the history museum civil war was not pretty by far 😢😢

THECARPETBAGGER🚐💨💨💨💨
Wonder why the painting was done in Michigan?
I always assumed you called yourself the Carpetbagger because of Marry Poppins.
Thanks for taking us along on this fascinating time-traveling journey. You have a natural talent for explaining things to your viewers. No offense, but in my opinion, the Izzy mascot is pretty bad.
It's nice to see Atlanta calling both sides American. Carolina thinks we are still at war with the north lol
I live in South Carolina, and im from Massachusetts it's sad that the South calls us names. We don't ever call the South names when I lived up north. I never heard it up there.
Ihave a ancestor that served in the Cilvil war and i have a xerox copy a photo of his son sitting in a frame on my inn table side my couch
You ever been to the crypto museum in Bangor Maine?
Ok, I have to ask this... What prompted you to say "Chaos reigns" when you see a fox taxidermy? I'm fairly new to your channel still, so I have no idea what the genesis of that statement you use for fox stuff is.
Is it Tiana bayou adventure?
