I miss uttara i have recently been shifted to Bashundhara. I cant complain about Bashundhara but Uttara is just something precious. I am looking forward to move back to Uttara.
8 reasons why you should not move to Uttara: 1. Theoretically it is a part of Dhaka. Practically, people of Uttara say "I'm going to Dhaka today" when they are going to Gulshan or Mirpur or Dhanmondi. It's not in Dhaka. 2. It is a village. 3. Accessing even the most basic of Amenities require you to travel miles. Unless you are one of the few people who live directly in Ajompur or Rajlokkhi near the main road, this will hold true. Hospitals, shopping malls, schools, nothing is close by. 4. Video talks about living near the airport... How many times do you even need the airport in a year? Many you have billions of taka to burn through and take a vacation to Bahamas twice a month, but for most people, Airport is somewhere you need to go to about once a year (Maybe even less). Besides, there are no good housing options near the airport. No matter where you live in Uttara, the Airport is always going to be far (Unless you own a Car or a personal vehicle. You can't even go there on a Rickshaw). 5. Uttara is far from EVERYTHING. Uttara is far from Dhanmondi. Uttara is far from Gulistan. Uttara is far from Gulshan. Uttara is far from Mohakhali. Uttara is far from Bashundhara. Don't say it's close to Mirpur. Because it takes me 20 minutes on a good day, riding at 80 KM/H on my bike to get to Mirpur from Uttara. In heavy traffic, expect to travel 45 minutes to get to Mirpur... and that's from Uttara 18, the part closest to Mirpur. If you are in Sector 3 or 7, it's more than an hour long ride. So, Uttara is even far from Mirpur. It's far from Gazipur as well. 6. Nothing is available in Uttara. Tried to buy a good GPU in Uttara. The most they have are 570's. If you want better ones, you are going to have to preorder and then they will bring it to you. Now imagine living near Elephant Road or Agargaon instead. Tried to buy a Panasonic water heater, they have 0 showrooms in Uttara. Want to have your Motorbike modded? Tough luck. Want to have your car modded? Tough luck. Want to get any shit done at all? Tough luck. I had to travel for 3 hours to buy Shegun (Chittagong teak) wood! All the shops had to offer was Mango wood. Want to learn Judo? Aikido? Muay Thai? Tough luck. 7. You can't ever get from point A to point B without facing tons of traffic. Now, it might hold true for everywhere in Dhaka (Uttara is not Dhaka), but there are times when you will actually find the roads to be empty. In Uttara, keep dreaming. 8. The roads are all messed up, broken, unsafe at night. People might say that the construction of the Metro-rail made it like this and things will improve in the future... well, shit has been like this since 2015, back when I moved to Uttara.
