    Welcome to England, Dan. What a splendid day cruiser you are reviewing...and such nice manners in that typical South Coast slop I remember. Some day you need to share with us the story of how you've come to wander all around Europe reviewing interesting boats. Too late in the season for the Dutch Canals...or a fjord or two?

    Very pretty and well fitted out picnic boat. Looks as nice as a Sabre. Former owner of an Albin 27. Had the aft cabin version, flush cockpit, no motor box to walk around, Westerbeke 100hp 6 cyl naturally aspirated gave 12kts WOT but cruised best at 8kts burning stupid little fuel. Similar hull. Soft chine, full keel, basically a New England lobster boat below the waterline. A pocket trawler was the description of it. We averaged 30 nights a year on it for 13 years.
    If looking for another boat a picnic boat 28-32 would be in contention. Boating is in Bermuda so want something for overnighting.

      This particular motor was almost too powerful for the boat because as WOT the prop warp wanted to heel her over a bit. But at normal cruise in high teens she was sweet and just loved cutting up the chop. I would take the standard motor they offer and a bow/stern thruster and be so happy with that.

    Bonzer Dan. Excellent review of what this craft has to offer. I like your videos over and above many others because you actually put to sea and whilst underway we can get a true idea of what the running experience is really like. I also like the way that you put yourself in the scene so that we can see how the interior space "works". Other 'experts' wave the camera about badly and from behind the camera show a cursory half-baked explanation arising from little relevant first-hand experience of boating. These days, fuel cost (hence range) practicality and value per wave are key.

    Pendennis and St Mawes Castles where part of King Henry VIII's coastal defences. Completed in 1546. Pendennis withstood a five month siege during the English Civil War in the mid 17th century.
    The River Fal was a flooded valley.
    The 30 meter depth was formerly dry land post ice age.

      Interesting feedback… I’m generally positive about boats because I can see the demographic it was designed for and I try to just communicate with that person. However I think I might start filming my feedback which I already give to dealers and factories and put that on my patreon page. Boats are always an evolution of ideas and progress so I think that’s a better place for people who are actually invested in the development and improvement of all boats to have the debate. What do you think?

    • @davismarinebrokerage

      The engine box has very think insulation and so conversation is very comfortable at lower speeds. As with any boat, the faster you go, the louder she will be. Exhaust is located at the aft corner.

      Hi Jean, I've left the link in the description if you want to contact the dealer or factory but I understand she's at the premium price end. So i'd say north of $150k Sterling

      Cockwells marketing lady asked to view the video before I posted it and asked me to remove a bit where the gas stove fitting fell into the sink. I was thought I was putting a note in my description to tell you guys but I accidentally put it in the title. I’ve not been asked this before so figured that’s the most transparent way I could do it.

    To call it a Rolls Royce is probably a bit of an exaggeration. Rover probably fits better. But nice little boat.

      You reckon...? I have only been a passenger in various Rolls Royce cars owned by my vendors over the years and I got the feeling the styling of this boat really matched a few of those guys taste. The quality seems suitable to guys like that too.
      I do understand it's always personal taste however so each to their own.

    Bow thruster on a 27 foot boat, why?

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому

      Easier to reverse a full keel design with a thruster otherwise the prop warp will pull you to one side.

      Easy 25 - 27kts that day. Just doesn't show on the camera. I've sailed for 25 years + and had to fly my drone in it. Catching the drone that day was a challenge.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому +1

      Compared to many other boats this size i would not say that. We were in a considerable amount of chop so yes the boat was moving around in the waves but i felt that was a very good hull so would be confident to take this boat offshore in nasty conditions here in Sydney.

    • @BoatLife_DansBoatLife
      @BoatLife_DansBoatLife  Рік тому +1

      It’s always hard to show the true conditions on camera but it was actually very windy with 25kts consistent and gusting plus plenty of water movement with tide so at times we were really cutting up some good waves. This particular 27 is overpowered so the prop wants to learn it over a bit at high speed but that’s because the motor is bigger than it needs. At normal speed or with standard motor it wouldn’t do that. Also the full keel is giving it lots of stability so noting like a real round bilge boat which I have plenty of experience driving so understand the difference

    It is crazy how bad the skin is on people who stay on open boats. I would never buy a boat where you have to be outside to sail it. Don't want to to go through hell on earth (aka skin cancer where skin falls off while you are alive and you can feel all the pain for years and months).
