PR-10,000 was recommended by Pool School and it helped me clean my pool. Now I continue to learn about water chemistry through your podcast. Thank you so much. Keep the content flowing!
Do I need to brush my pool walls first before applying PR 10,000 into my pool ? Also is it safe to wait 2 to 3 days to clean my filter after applying the PR 10,000 ?
I added 16oz pr to a 30,000 gal Green Pool with 3 lbs of potassium monopersulfate oxidizing shock. I’ve never used this type of shock before (a neighbor gave it to me). I definitely show positive phosphate test results. Tomorrow /day 2 I plan to shock again with liquid sodium hypochlorite if the pool is still green. Now, Wondering if these products are compatible this way?
Pool Tech in Florida. In Early May, i found a dead bird in a pool skimmer basket. Pentair Salt Pool. I added way too much Orenda PR. Home owner kept having white dust on the bottom. We are talking for a month and 4 filter cleanings they found white dust on the bottom. Today I am vacuuming to waste the left over and having them fill with fresh water. Thanks for the video! I know better for next time!
@@OrendaTechnologies the home owner rarely use the pool. They have pressure Polaris vacuum that roams around, and the dust sits where he can’t get to. I cleaned the filter again yesterday, i started the pump and you can see the cloudiness of the PR come out of the returns, is that normal? This pools is also five feet from grass, so they always have blades of grass flying in, assuming the PR that’s in the water will cloud up when grass falls in.
Can I use the Orenda Bomb and a clarifier or floculant in the same session? How quickly does the PR10000 bind to phosphates so I can vacuum to an external vacuum system
Yes you can. The reaction happens quickly, depending on water temperature. Warmer water means the reaction starts in seconds and is probably done within 10 minutes. Then it’s just managing the dust and letting it settle out or get captured in the filter.
You probably have a lot more going on than just phosphates if that’s the case. Go on our website and search “bucket” to find the white bucket test. Find out if you’ve got copper in the water. Also look at your CYA level. If it’s over 50 ppm, consider diluting water down to get CYA to a more reasonable level to achieve faster sanitizer killing speeds.
Most people put in about 2 oz per 10,000 gallons each month. But it depends on your tap water and other factors like trees, fertilizers, etc. Every pool is different.
I was having issues with my Chlorinator and was thinking it went bad so I called a local pool service and they recommended me to add this even though my phosphates were 0. Having done so my chlorinator seems to be working again! Any idea on why that would be the case?
According to the person at the pool shop, the phosphates are not allowing my free chlorine to go up. After I add the PR-10000, how long should it take before the free chlorine reading goes up? Should I use more chlorine right away when I add PR-10000 or wait a while? My phosphate level is 2400. Thanks
Hmm, that’s not necessarily true. The two are not directly related, so that advice was not accurate. But any time you supplement chlorine it should help you hold chlorine. With PR it will do its job within minutes.

Thanks for tolerating our podcast! Glad it’s helping
Excellent explanation of phosphates and how your product works to control/remove them. Thanks.
Will a cartridge filter system be sufficient to remove the phosphate dust that precipitates? or will I have to use a vacuum?
Yes it should. Vacuum whatever lands on the floor of the pool.

Thank you!

Woah, that’s crazy. The reaction would’ve been done in minutes, so it’s just a question of how the dust was moved around (or lack thereof)

I suck it up in a 60cc syringe and squirt it in that way. That’s 2 ounces at a time so you can readily titrate the dose, and spread it around.
Good idea
If I use PR 10000, and choose to run my filter, if I don’t backwash immediately will the dust breakdown and end up back in my pool?
No. Once PR reacts with phosphates, it’s irreversible. The dust will never dissolve back into solution. It’s permanently dust.
What other particles does PR10000 bind to besides phosphates?
Only phosphate based molecules, but there's a ton of different types: blog.orendatech.com/different-phosphates
Is PR 100000 safe to use with Baqucil pool chemicals?
No don’t use it with baquacil. It can turn your pool yellow.
I used Pr-10,000 and vacuumed 4 hours later now I have a green pool again. Should I leave it and contiue to let the pump run

How often should I use PR-10,000 in my pool? ie. Maintaining so I don’t have to use algecides.

No idea… it sounds purely coincidental. But we’re glad your chlorinator is working again!
I put like 10 ounces in the skimmer. I don’t know why, because the bottle doesn’t say that.
The bottle says to pour it evenly around the perimeter of the pool…. Hopefully your filter pressure didn’t increase too much.

The pool store said my phosphates are over 7,000 how much should I use?
